My WRVS4400N rebooted itself and went back to default settings; it was set for a 10.x.x.x network, and is now back to 192.x.x.x network. How do I configure it back to the 10.x.x.x network?
View 4 RepliesI'll just use the 4400n to provide DHCP to my two VLANs and then a new problem cropped up. I am unable to add a default route to the 4400n's DHCP server. It uses the 4400n's vlan IP as the default route. What I'm trying to ultimately achieve is to configure the 4400n as an access point for our "private" network on vlan1 and also "guest" access to the internet on vlan2.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI live in a house of about 30 tenants. The place uses a cisco WRVS4400N router. It seems that my computer gets assigned a temporary ip automatically and then there will be times when I get "kicked out" and my computer doesn't get connected to the internet. Sometimes for few minutes and sometimes for hours.
No idea what happens there but could be that there are no ips left to assign to my computer and someone else gets the ip address.Anyway I'm trying to find out if I can configure my computer with a static ip.
The maximum number of dhcp users was changed from 50 to 100 by me. IDK if that means that I can assign a static ip from 1 to 100 but say I pick a number 160 so the ip would be xxx.xxx.x.160.
1. What are the steps I have to undertake to configure my computer on the router page? What info. do I have to modify?
2. After I modify settings on the router page, do I have to change settings on my computer?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have established a site-to-site VPN from my head office to a remote location. WRVS4400N router is used in the head office and it is in 10.0.1.0/25 private range. RV120W is used in the remote location and its private range is 192.168.0.0/25. We are able to ping and RDP to the head office from the remote location, but unable to do viceversa. A comcast router is also placed before the WRVS440N router at the head office. I need to get communication to both sides through the established site-to-site VPN.

Internet still runs great on the old WRT54G. Is this WRVS4400 DOA? Or is there some arcane setting the quickstart guide overlooks? OR?

Additional I can ping to dirkle.dyndns.org as well as accessing to the WRVS4400N [URL] The connection map is as following:
Client --> PPPoE DSL Router --> (...INTERNET...) --> NetvigatorGateway ---> WRVS4400N --> HomeNetwork
The NetvigatorGateway is locatet at my home and also distributing IP-TV. For internet it netvigator gateway is set DMZ to WRVS4400N (network 192.168.1.xxx); the WAN IP is assigned to the WRVS4400N and same as on dirkle.dyndns.org. When I connect myself into the netvigator gateway, (network 192.168.8.xxx) i can successfully establish a VPN connection with QuickVPN to the WRVS4400N.But then, what reason ever, I cannot access to 192.168.1.xxx network devices. QuickVPN does not allow me to see the assigned IP as well. This is my issue 2: After the connection is "successfully" established, it does not feel as I am part of the home network....Issue 3 would be: In the company we use CiscoAnyConnect VPN client (Verison 2.4.0202). Is it possible in using this client instead in any later firmware revision?
at our office we have a brand new WRVS4400N with 2.0.1.3 fw preinstalled.In order to make a VPN connection to our cliente, we need to establish an IPSEC VPN with AES-CBC encryption, but in the drop-down list I can only select 3DES.Does v2.0.2.1 fw update include AES-CBC encryption?In negative case, how can we add this type of encryption to the router?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI hardly try to get WDS running with two WRVS4400N v2.The manual (and the web interface) says: "Note: The WDS feature allows WRVS4400N to connect with up to 3 wireless repeaters that can be either WRVS4400N or WAP200." But I wasn't successful by now in getting it working..What I've done so far:
- Setup the primary WRVS as Gateway, WAN through Modem, LAN and WLAN using WPA2 Personal Mixed, DHCP
- works perfect
- Setup the second WRVS as Router using the same WLAN settings, no WAN and no DHCP
- Enabling WDS on both WRVS, giving each the MAC address of the other
- no connection to LAN or WAN through the second WRVS
I really need the second WRVS act like a bridge. Since the manual is saying that I can connect both devices through WDS I bought two of them. On the other hand I've now read somewhere in the community, that this isn't possible with two WRVS (?)
I've got an out of the box WRVS4400N and it will not pick up a DHCP IP from the ISP.
I reset to factory defaults, tried another ISP, returned and got a second wrvs4400n all the same results - no IP address on the WAN port. The internet LEDs are blinking but no IP on WAN port and no internet connection from a laptop connected to wrvs4400n.
I even tried turning of the firewall too.
Is there something with these routers that needs to be done for internet access?
Most typical small routers are just set up as a DHCP client on the WAN side and DHCP server on the LAN side.
I'm having problems trying to establish a IP Sec tunnel from the office to home. All of our machines are Macs so I have been using the directions described in "How to create an IP Sec tunnel for MAC Clients, A QVPN alternative" but I still can't get it to work. My setup is as follows:
The office is connected to the outside world through a MODEM (Sagemcom 2864 Connection Hub). This MODEM is also a wireless router. It's DHCP server provides addresses 192.168.2.x.The WRVS4400N's WAN port is connected to one of the LAN ports on the MODEM. It's IP address from the MODEM is 192.168.2.x. The WRVS4400N provides addresses 192.168.21.x to devices connected to it.We have a DynDNS account and are using the DDNS client on the WRVS4400N router to connect to it.At home, we have a DIR-655 router with IP Sec Passthru enabled. The router provides IP addresses 192.168.1.x for all devices connected to it. I am fairly sure there are no issues with the router setup at home since I am able to VPN into the office of my full-time job without any problems. I have tried just about everything I can think of but have not been able to get this to work. setting up the Local and Remote Group Settings on the WRVS4400N and the IP address settings in IP Securitas?
I've been trying to get my WRVS4400N connected to my ASA5505 on the internet through a Cox connection, but it isn't working. I cannot get the ASA to be the DHCP server for the wireless router. I've configured the wireless router as a gateway and pointed the DHCP server to the ASA but no addresses are being passed through to the wireless router. I've included a copy of my config.

The router is sat behind another router/modem (Belkin) as the UK uses PPPoA and the WRVS4400n doesn't.So I set up DMZ and changed the DHCP to always allocate 10.x.x.2 on the Belkin which is the WAN side for the WRVS4400n as it is the only thing attached.I have now noticed, and I'm not sure whether it was the case before, that the DNS that the WRVS4400 is showing is the LAN address for the Belkin Modem/Router (10.x.x.1), not 192.x.x.1 for the WRVS4400n itself. I assumed setting the Static DNS 1 on the WRVS4400n would do it, but it didn't?When I connect into the network with QuickVPN, the computer names do not show even though I have selected the option in QuickVPN?

I need the telework's router to know to push two ip's through the tunnerl, 9.19.178.( ) and 172.20.0.( ). It looks like when you setup the tunnel you can only do one. The tunnel does work with 9.19.178.( ) but how do I tell the router to also push 172.20.0.( ) traffic through the tunnel as well?

When I bring the iPad onto the internal network, the url routing fails. Externally, it works fine. I think it's some sort of protection that is configured within the router.
Proper configuration to allow the URL to kind of loop back onto itself, when it's in the house? Where, in the configuration, this is set to prevent this kind of routing?
Our business was looking at purchasing one of these Cisco routers and were curious if it supported WPA2 EAP-TLS?

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently installed a WRVS4400N router on my home network. Prior to that I was using the wireless built into my FIOS router. I wanted something more secure so I went with the WRVS4400N. I turned off the FIOS wireless and am only using the cisco wireless.
Im having intermittent issues with the wireless. I have many things hooked up to my wireless including a HP printer and a Sonos system. Most of the time if I just open my ipad I cannot see anything else on my network including the printer. If I try to see the Sonos system can cannot, sometimes I can open the app on my iphone and then I can see it.
Sometimes I can see the printer and sometimes I cant. Sometimes when I do see it and then print to it, it will be gone before it even prints.
I don’t seem to have any issues thru the LAN connections.
Also, ive noticed that the wifi is much slower than the old FIOS box.
FYI, when I remove the cisco and fire back up the FIOS wifi I don’t have any problems at all at any time. And its much faster.
I have tried channel 6, 11 and auto. Also turned off IPC and still no change.

On the tests in WAG-s all ports are forwarding on WRVS and I open 8080 for Remote Management in WRVS. I can get acces to bouth WRVS by Remote Management from outside networks. I make in bouth WRVS client vpn, but when I want connet by OpenVPN Cilent, I have access for few seccend and I get notificatin that the network not respond. Some time i get connection for long time.

When I change ADSL to bridge mode the VPN tunels are working and OpenVPN Cilent connect normaly. But I thing that the solution with adsl mode bridge isn't safely like forwarding ports and routing.
I have a gateway to gateway vpn (home-office) working fine for almost an year btw 2 wrvs4400n routers, This morning, the VPN tunnel was down. I clicked "Connect" from the web based interface, but it does not reconnect.
I tried setting up a new tunnel using the VPN setup wizard, but it says it can't connect to the remote router. Which is strange, since I can ping there normally.
I'm having a heck of a time connecting the WRVS4400N VPN to another WRVS4400N VPN. both of the routers have the current firmware version V2.0.2.1: Router 1 is below, and router 2 has the matching configuration with as it should be the local group being that routers local information and the remote crew set up being router ones information. the status is up on both of the routers, but I'm unable to ping the remote gateway or any device behind it.[code]
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup VPN with WRVS4400N and Quick VPN on client side. I am fairly new to VPN and did some research and looked through the manual but can't seem to get it to work so far and from what I noticed many people are having this problem.
Basically it gives the "Failed to establish connection" generic error, shows it almost instantly.It also showed the certificate error before but then I read about putting it in the installation directory and it stopped showing it, and whats strange is later I removed it but it doesnt show the error any longer, so don't know if its caching it somewhere or what can be going on...
In effort to look for answer and test things out I tried to connect to another location and setup a WRV200 router, I also get the same error but not instantly, it even shows "Activating Policy" but then doesn't go farther and shows the generic error.Also with this setup strangly it always shows the certificate error, no matter if I put one in directory or not... Even tried to name it as the WRVS4400N certificate name...
Anyway VPN IPSec is disabled, and Client Accounts are configured and changed password several times to make sure its correct, VPN Passthrough enabled on all 3 options. I tried to disable Windows Router, I also have a router in place do I possibly need to open some type of ports for the QuickVPN client?

This seems to happen for 2 or 3 days and then it will go away for about a week and then come back. What is causing this? The best I can tell I don't have any IP conflicts on the network and most of the time the network has very little traffic other than 2 or 3 computers surfing the web. [code]

I am new VPN and have not found much information on how to establish this connection. Since Linksys seems determined to rely on Quickvpn, and provides no information on what it is actually doing under the hood I can not figure out how to configure any of the VPN clients available, or the built in VPN tools, for OS X (10.4.8). The only information I have been able to find seems to relate to setting up VPN Tunnels, or running a server behind the wrvs4400n and using one of the VPN passthrough options. I would like to connect directly to the built in accounts, how to set this up on a mac?

Most machines do not use DHCP.After a while (few hours to few days after power up) the router freezes and it is not accessible. I cannot ping it or access to the admin page.I have the latest firmware version (V1.00.09-ETSI)I also called service and they suggested to reset it to factory settings and reconfigure it.

The laptop im trying to connect to the gateway via VPN is a Windows 7 x64 HP Elitebook 8540p with a internal mobile broadband (HSPA+)So.The scenario is that i've installed the QuickVPN client on my Win7-machine without any trouble.I've created a user in the web-administration of the router.The router is configured to disable "Block WAN requests" in the firewall, apart from that the firewall is on.When trying to connect - with a valid certificate that i created, i get a error message after the dialog telling me "Verifying network":"The remote gateway is not responding. Do you want to wait?".
