Sep 20, 2011I use campground WIFI systems to get internet/email but some wifi systems have limited range.I solved this problem with a booster antenna but that means I am hard wired to it. I want to (if possible) to get the wifi signal to a bridge then send it to a router so that I can use my lap top, printer and other devices in my 5th wheel wirelessly. I looked at a suggested system that uses a point-to-point antenna that feeds a bridge, that feeds a router. I don't want to use the point-to-point antenna.My booster antenna is a USB feed.

and i applied this inbound accesslist on the WAN port of router as
"ip access-group acl-in in"
Now i have blocked the external traffic to my network 192.168.1.0/24 but the issue i am having is i am also unable to reach outside now. All i want is to block external traffic on the router WAN port but allow internal traffic to outside. Did i miss anything in the access list?

Apr 23, 2012I have a situation where I have tenants connecting to my wireless network and paying towards the internet bill. I am able to control this by using MAC filtering, but I have just realised that this only works for wireless clients.
Is there a way to replicate this for the router's Lan ports? Or possibly even just disable Lan access. The router model is a D-link DSL-2750U.

I'd like to make exception keywords in the Access Control but I don't know how I could possibly do this. E.g. I have put in the keyword "apple" to be blocked, so if a domain has the keyword "apple" in it, it will be automatically blocked. What can I do, however, if I want to make an exception for the domain "appletree.com"? I haven't found any way to make an exception to specific domains or keywords.

Dec 1, 2011I have in my possession three E2000 and I wanted to buy 3 more, but the model seems to not be on sale anymore so I bought his successor the E2500.In the E2000 I used the Internet Policy menu to block internet access of certain computer by entering their mac address.In the E2500, they seem to have removed this menu to replace it with a Parental Control menu, which offers far fewer options, basically you can only block a computer that is connected to the router, you can not block a pc by the ip or by his mac address.Is there a way to have a menu similar to Internet policy in the E2500? A hidden menu, or a different firmware?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 DHCP Systems Loose Ability To See Other Network Computers
Nov 22, 2012Have Win7 and XP systems in my network wire connected to the router. When IP of both systems are not reserved, each computer can see other network computers and devices, five in total.A good thing that both systems get each time same IPs which even got not changed since I upgraded from E1200.When I reserve an IP for each system exactly that they currently have, both systems loose ability to see other network computers. Network shares not affected, I still can remotely access my XP box remotely from my 7 via RDP by computer name. WDTV Live wirelessly connected to the router can get/update its IP address (no connection issues) but same as others cannot see network resources.
Tried different ways, rebooted, finally ended up with device reset pushing the button.The next day I managed to reproduce the issue, but was able to revert by disabling/enabling of DHCP server.Another issue I got with an external HD connected to the router when some files got converted to folders by uTorrent started from that drive.I had to use Unlocker application to be able to delete folders converted. I can just assume that issue because of anonymous access was enabled to the external disk. No problems when same HD connected to PC USB.

Oct 24, 2012I have tried to setup access control by setting up a policy that restricts certain MAC addresses during a period during the day from certain websites. I set up the website filter and a schedule and selected them for the policy. Instead of blocking just the websites on the filter list during the time setup in the schedule, it blocks all websites all the time.I made sure that I setup the policy to 'block some access' NOT 'block all access'.The only thing that seems to work is that only the computers with the MAC address selected are effected.

I've tried configuring it by both MAC address and IP address (separately, not simultaneously), but it still allows the listed sites in the web filter to get through. Is there something else I need to block or am I not doing something correctly? The network is on DHCP reservation, so IP addresses are always the same. MAC addresses, as I mentioned, don't work, either and they are fixed and logged in the router.

I don't want to turn MAC control on and grant only to listed computers - the list doesn't accommodate enough MAC addresses, and the client has wireless and wired since it's a laptop. I also don't want to set static IPs on all of the devices since some cannot accommodate that feature.I'm thinking that reserving an IP address isn't ultimately the solution either, since assigning the IP isn't going to work if the MAC changes. how to use access control under these circumstances?

Nov 29, 2012We are forced to rush a installation of a WLC 5508 various reasons in a testing lab. I eventually want to configure RADIUS and such but cannot do it at this immediate time. What I would like to do is implement straight forward MAC filtering. The problem I am having is the controller allows either any W LAN or only one W LAN, and a interface setting. I need to have each MAC be able to access several W LAN's but not all of them. Can anyone point me to a article or give me a quick idea of what I can do.I have basic W LAN's configured and have MAC filtering generally working. I cannot just use a user authentication because each user may have 20-30 devices, but not all of these devices should be allowed on all W LAN's and I do not want to rely on the user.

Feb 26, 2008When attempting to configure access controls from the advanced menu I enable the access control checkbox. I then follow the configuration wizard completing each step as directed by the wizard. When I complete the wizard and try to save the rule I get the following error message regardless of how I complete the wizard. "Name can not be empty string". Yes, cannot is misspelled in the message. I have tried every combination of choices in the wizard and many combinations of naming the rule to no avail.
This did work properly on a previous firmware version, probably 1.04 or 1.05. I have not tried back loading to the previous versions to see where it did or did not work. I don't know how well the router goes back and don't really care to reload all the settings again by hand if the automatic recovery doesn't work.I want to use this feature to control what hours certain machines on the network have access to the internet.

Jan 9, 2010I'm trying to block internet access to a range of IP addresses using the Access Control function of the DIR-655 router. Unfortunately, the router does not allow me to block a range of IPs. Instead, I can only create policies based upon individual IPs or MAC addresses. I have over 60 machines I want to block Internet access and I'd hate to have to type them in individually. How do I go about blocking all Internet access (HTTP/FTP/email/everything) for a range of IP addresses? They will have to be able to continue to use the internal LAN.

We're setting up the ASA for many different vendors, and need to control access for each vendor with different policy.
For example, Vendor one is in AD group Vendor1 and will only be permitted access to a specific group of defined IPs in our network. Vendor two is in AD group Vendor2 and will only be permitted access to a different group of defined IPs in our network from Vendor1.
