My main computer is a desktop PC, which is in my upstairs study. It is connnected wirelessly to the internet, and the Virgin router is downstairs in the living room. This has worked perfectly for 2 years. The computer uses Windows 7 ultimate. (COMPUTER 1), I recently purchased a laptop (COMPUTER 2) and installed Windows 7 ultimate. This uses the same wireless connection and at first I had no problem setting up a homegroup so that I could watch videos stored on Computer 1 on the laptop. The first problem is that the homegroup stopped working some time ago and when both computers are switched on, I get the message on both computers: "no other homegroup computers are currently available."
I figured I could leave the homegroup and start again but if I try to leave on either computer I get the error message: "Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup." In services, both the Homegroup settings (listener and provider) are started, as are the peer networking options. I have tried disabling them and re-starting to no avail. Now, this hasn't been a major problem because I have still been able to access files on Computer 1 via Computer 2 by clicking on network>Computer1>user. But here is where it gets complicated. I have now purchased another desktop PC (COMPUTER 3) which I intend to place in the living room and connect to my TV, so that I'm not constantly connecting wires from my laptop (computer 2) if I want to watch something on the big screen. Again, Windows 7 ultimate installed.

1) We have a server running active domain, and it also assign the IP address to domain users.
2) All the server, computers are connected to Cisco ASA5505 for the network.
Currently our VPNs were set up to use DHCP and local IP pools. It seems that I can get into the network, however the IP address the VPN gets was from the internal pool not From SERVER. As a result, the VPN is connected, by VPN is not able to ping to the router or the server. Is there anyway, I can configure the router treats VPN as the physical port. then the active domain server can assign the IP address to VPN.

I've worked on it and read on it for almost 2 days and I'm stuck. I'm using a Win 7 Pro desktop that is hardwired and a Win 7 Home Premium laptop wireless. Both current on all updates.
My Comcast modem is hooked into a WRT160N that is hardwired to the desktop PC and to a WRT400N which is being used as an access point. Both routers have the latest firmware. Both routers have the same SSID, security and password but use different channels. (2 & 6) Internet works perfect both wired and wireless through both routers.
The homegroup has been set up through the desktop but I've removed and added homegroups on both machines multiple times. My problem doesn't go away. The homegroup works when the laptop is either wired or wireless using the WRT160N. It will not work at all through the WRT400N. I can be in the room with the WRT160N hooked to the homegroup, when I move to the other router so the wireless switches to the WRT400N, it drops the homegroup. The internet stays connected just fine as I move back in forth so the IDs and security has to be correct. Once the laptop drops the homegroup, it can't find it until I go back and connect to the main router.
Both machines have IPv6 addresses, auto discovery is on.
I also have an XP machine hooked to the main router. The desktop can see it but it also is invisible to anything using the WRT400N router. I also made sure all PCs are using the same Network ID with no password.
It seems to me that neither Homegroup or Home Network are passing between the two routers since everything works fine using just one router.

Ive been having an issue for the past 3 weeks keeping my primary wired PC and the wireless PCs in my home network connected to the Internet. The internet constantly disconnects intermittently (with no rhyme or reason) and have tried everything I could do to try to resolve the issue. I connected my wired PC directly to the Optimum Online Cable Modem (Arris Telephony Modem v 3.0) I use to connect to the internet and it still has connection issues. Most of the time when it drops the connection, the network icon on the taskbar says Im still connected to the internet. Only after a few minutes will the network icon finally appear with the yellow exclamation point over it. When I right click the network icon, I will check the network and sharing center and will click on the red x over the connection from my router to the internet. Sometimes when Windows checks for internet connection problems, it will state that it cant resolve the issue, and other times it will state that the DNS server isnt responding or cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server. Ive had my ISP cable guys check my cable wire (coaxial cable wire) for packet loss, swapped my old router for anew one (twice), readjust the connection outside for a specific low node issue, and did 3 or 4 trace routes, conducted a multitude of ping tests, went on speedtest.com to check the signal strength and they state that everything looks great on their end. I also used different Ethernet ports built into the motherboard of my PC to see if my network adapter was the issue, but my internet connection it still continues to drop, even when only my pc is wired directly into the cable modem. I even changed the Ethernet cables themselves to see if they might have been faulty, but it still continues to drop.
I forgot to mention that I did the flushdns and registerdns commands , plus reset the TCP/IP, but my internet connection still continues to drop. The only thing(s) I have not done is change the network adapter completely (install a new Network PCI adapter ) and have the cable guy re install an entire new coaxial cable wire, of which myISP is adamant that I dont need to have done since when I am able to connect to the internet, my signal strengths and speeds are great (download speeds of 32mbps and upload speeds of 5mbps). I know Ive said a mouthful, but Im at a loss of what I should do next. When connected to my cable modem through my wireless N router, ALL of my PCs (my wired PC and my wirelessly connected PCs through my home network)will disconnect from the internet . Both the cable modem and the wireless N router still appear to be online (none of the lights on the front of the modem or router have changed ) Ive even considered the strength of the ethernet cable itself, possibly thinking that the ones I have may not be strong enough for my internet speeds (purchased a CAT 6 Networking Ethernet Cable). My router , OS, cable modem, ISP, motherboard, and built in network adapter specs are shown below;
ISP: Optimum Online (with Boost Service) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (with latest Windows 7 Service Pack 1 updates) Cable Modem : ARRIS Touchstone DOCSIS 3.0 E-MTA Telephony Modem TM802 Wireless Router: Netgear Rangemax Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit Router WNDR3700 Motherboard: ASUS Rampage Formula Built In Network Adapter: Dual Gigabit LAN (2 RJ45 Ports)

Basically, my home network is comprised of a WRT54GS Router which the cable modem and my main computer are plugged into (as well as vonage, networked printer). That leaves one port open which is used to connect a Dlink DES-1105 10/100 switch. I am connecting it using a crossover cable, though that was not necessary.I just noticed that a computer connected to that switch gets MUCH less download speeds at speedtest.net, and it gets STUCK on the upload test (doesn't even start).I unplugged it and plugged it directly into the router for testing. I get 20-30 megs down (like I should), rather than 5-11 like the switch gave me (ONCE the switch gave me over 20, not sure why..)The upload test NEVER runs though. I've tried different computers as well. I tried setting the computer to "100 full duplex" manually and no luck.

I have multiple macs and when all of them are connected to the wag120n router, macs can't seem to find/see each other as if they are connected to different networks. I have tried another router ie. netgear dg834g router and this problem didn't occur and i am able to connect over the network without a problem. Obviously there is something wrong with the router settings.

My Dlink DIR-615 had worked flawlessly for almost 7 months now.But since last week it started showing problems. All the computers connected to LAN thru the switch could not access the Internet but the Server(192.168.0.100) which is connected to the DIR-615 could connect to the internet.the above screenshot was captured thru a laptop running Win7 Ultimate connected to the DIR-615 thru WiFi-n.Even after repeated Reloads the same error cropped up in the browsers in the computers connected thru the switch. The computers connected to the switch could access the Internet after I restarted the router.

I've got an RV042 router at home and am connected from my office via the QuickVPN client ver 1.4.1.1.2. I can ping the RV042 and log into the administration page and make changes. However, I can not see other computers on the remote network. I can not ping them. When I open my Network page, I still see the computers on my local network.
All machines are running Windows 7 Ultimate. ISP is Comcast at both locations. WAN IP's are dynamic, but have not changed in over a year. Local IP's on the remote (home) network are static..[url]....

I have 3 laptops connecting wirelessly to this router. One is running at 18Mbps, the other two at 0.4Mbps. the internet setting are the same and the security is the same (WPA2-Personal with AES encryption). One of the slow computers is brand new and WAY faster than my "fast internet" computer. The other is about the same as the "fast internet" computer. I updated the I connected the new computer to the router tusing an ethernet cable and it had superfast internet. I redid the Cisco connect on each computer, but it didnt change anything. Why is it so slow wirelessly?

Everything in our small network worked until today when I had to manually reset the router. We run a application through a provider which requires that we view it from the same IP address for access. We have a statis IP assigned by our ISP solely for this purpose. For simplicity, lets us 23.11.23.176 as the statis assigned by our ISP and 23.11.23.175 as the gateway also assigned by our ISP. The application we need to browse requires that we use the 23.11.23.175 address else it is blocked from viewing. When we hard line into the modem, we are able to browse it fine. When I connect the CISCO router and do it wirelessly, it shows our address as 23.11.23.176 what are the required steps in order to set the CISCO router to use the Gateway address as the browsing IP for computers connected to it. We had set it up about a year ago, and i completely forgot how.

I've been noticing a Belkin router on my network for a while now and just yesterday another Linksys router as join the party, causing havoc on my connection speed!
The strange thing is that I'm the only one seeing them through Norton on my laptop, all other computer on my home network is not detecting them. could this mean that someone is monitoring me? is possible? If I move permanently to Ubuntu linux would the problem go away? OR will they still be able to connect and monitor me?
