How do I audit a network PC to see what it has on it or delete what does not need to be there. If I do it through the Windows add or remove they re-install. In the old days I could do it in DOS and then 'Tree' to list the properties and then delete what I wanted permanently.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI reset my Dlink 615 wireless router. I held down the power and reset for 30 seconds and rebooting the system with the disc. I did change the router name, but believe everything else stayed the same. My desk top is working fine being "hardwired" but nothing wireless will connect.
I did see this time it installed Network Magic which I have since uninstalled and again rebooted the computer system and still cannot get the wireless to work. It shows the network available, but my password for some reason does not take.
My school have a couple of public network drives like one containing all the network printers the school own. But when i am trying to access this drive through my lenovo laptop by typing a command in run \addressname. I receive an error from windows telling me: "You cannot access \addressname | Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problem, click Diagnose" after a couple of minutes.

This feature allows you to remotely connect into the router and access any external drive attached as well as your computers shared folders.My issue arises due my location. I live on a school campus and with this being the case, setting up an IP address that is static and is available from everywhere is not really possible. I have my router which I can setup with a static number but the school breaks theirs down so mine will never stay that wayI am trying to see if there is a way to make an address static using an update feature or something of that nature to constantly have a new IP when mine changes.

I'm having problems connecting to a printer. It has worked for a long time, it's still my default printer, but when I try to access it, it gives me a spooling error.
Now here's why I think it's a network problem.I can't access the main computer's network location (the one hooked up directly to the printer). All the other computers come up on the networkjust fine. And the one in question is only able to access very few computers in the network browser. let me simplify:
computer A/ brother printershared computer B/no longer sees A on network A/ sees only a small portion of other computers on network B/ sees all computers but A
Again, I don't think it's a spooler problem. It probably gives that error because it's a default printer with a lost connection.
I am trying to connect my wireless router into the wired ethernet so that i can create a private wireless network for our room. The thing is, my school realizes what you are trying to do and your browser only displays "you are attempting to access (college.edu) network on an unauthorized wireless network. My friend has made it work by turning off the dhcp with his airport extreme and setting it to create new network instead of extend, but after I turn off dhcp I dont know what i should put in for a static ip/ dns/ what to do at all. I can look at all the connections with ipconfig/all , I just don't know the magic things to put in after turning off dhcp to make this work. I have a netgear wireless wndr 3400 n600 router.

Students bring their ipods and iphones and are connecting to the existing unsecured wireless access points and are taking up the remaining IP addresses in the DHCP scope. I am running out of IP addresses and was wondering if I could set up a VLAN using the Cisco WRVS4400N for all of these wireless devices the students will be using. I plan to pull out all unsecured wireless AP's and replace with what ever solution we come up with. I will need about 6 access points/routers to cover the entire school. There is not a lot of money for technology and the ipods were donated. I have never set up a VLAN before. Is there an inexpensive way to allow the students with their personal ipads/ipods and the 20 ipads owned by the school to connect to a VLAN to keep from using up our DHCP IP addresses from the server.

When this happens, the lan speed drops to 1.0 mbps and I get the "No Data Received" error when I try to load pages.My internet is on fine and my brother can access the internet fine on a desktop which is wired to the router and modem. My mom's notebook sometimes gets this error as well.
Is there any real solution for this problem or known compatibility problems between my WRT54G (version 1.1 I think) and Windows 7? Really need a solution to this, before I had to re-setup my whole connection, I didn't get such a problem. My laptop doesn't get the error in the school network either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy USB Belkin Wireless G Network Adapter seems to disconnect whenever I remove another USB device (usually a memory stick) from the PC.The problem started when I accidentally updated the driver via Windows. It didn't seem to work at all with this updated driver and I couldn't roll back or do a system restore to fix it. I'd done this before and ended up doing a complete re-install of Win 7. This time I did an upgrade install and the driver problem was cured.I'm running a HP XW8400 with Win 7 64 Pro which has been faultless for the 5 years I've had it.The only other change I've made recently is that I've stopped using a D-Link USB hub and started using the USB connectors on the HP LP2465 monitor.This only affects the wireless and no other USB devices.
When it disconnects, Win troubleshooting goes through the motions and reverts to LAN and doesn't see the wireless USB at all. This also happens if I don't use the troubleshooter.Device manager shows the driver to be working, but the wireless USB doesn't function even if I connect it directly to a USB port.The router is still working as all other devices in the house are connected.The only way around it seems to be a re-boot, but when this fault happens the PC gets stuck at "Shutting Down". Without the fault, re-boot or shut down works fine.When it happens I have to power off and on. This usually works fine but every now and then I notice the device driver for the Belkin is disabled.I've found a workaround in that I can take out the Belkin USB before removing another USB device. After the USB stick or whatever is removed if I then reconnect the wireless USB it reconnects fine.
I set up a linksys e2500 router with name "mynetwork" and WPA2 password.
The network works fine, my laptop connects securely to it.
But when I View Available Wireless Networks , I see a second , unsecure network named "mynetwork-guest" to which my laptop will also connect with no credentials (not sure how that network got there).
How can I find and delete that unsecure network? When I go into my router setup, I only see mynetwork, not mynetwork-guest If it is of any use here is the IP information for both:
The settingd for mynetwork:
IP Address: 192.168.1.133
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
The setting for mynetwork-guest:
IP Address: 192.168.33.137
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
