Belkin Wireless G Network Adapter Seems To Disconnect / Remove Another USB Device From PC

Nov 4, 2012

My USB Belkin Wireless G Network Adapter seems to disconnect whenever I remove another USB device (usually a memory stick) from the PC.The problem started when I accidentally updated the driver via Windows. It didn't seem to work at all with this updated driver and I couldn't roll back or do a system restore to fix it. I'd done this before and ended up doing a complete re-install of Win 7. This time I did an upgrade install and the driver problem was cured.I'm running a HP XW8400 with Win 7 64 Pro which has been faultless for the 5 years I've had it.The only other change I've made recently is that I've stopped using a D-Link USB hub and started using the USB connectors on the HP LP2465 monitor. This only affects the wireless and no other USB devices.

When it disconnects, Win troubleshooting goes through the motions and reverts to LAN and doesn't see the wireless USB at all. This also happens if I don't use the troubleshooter.Device manager shows the driver to be working, but the wireless USB doesn't function even if I connect it directly to a USB port. The router is still working as all other devices in the house are connected. The only way around it seems to be a re-boot, but when this fault happens the PC gets stuck at "Shutting Down". Without the fault, re-boot or shut down works fine. When it happens I have to power off and on. This usually works fine but every now and then I notice the device driver for the Belkin is disabled.I've found a workaround in that I can take out the Belkin USB before removing another USB device. After the USB stick or whatever is removed if I then reconnect the wireless USB it reconnects fine.

Remove Business VPN Tunnel Access From Home Network?

Jul 17, 2012

"disconnect" home network from VPN tunnel to business location due to close of business. We had a business network that we could access from home. We've lost access to the business network, and it seems logical that we should be able to use the home network that is existing, but was fed internet from the office, and "re-direct " it to read just the home network.Currently at home we have a windows XP cmptr with a Netgear router, wireless access box, and Bell South Westell DSL box. How to we basically cut off the VPN link and just get what we have to read the home network?

Home Network :: Use Access Point As Main Network Device

Aug 15, 2012

I currently have a BT Home Hub 3 router and an Ubiquiti Power AP N.What I am trying to do is use the Ubiquiti access point as the main device for all connections in my house (ethernet and wireless) so that I can use the QoS settings etc. I basically want the Home Hub router to play as little role as possible in the network except for providing the ADSL internet connection.I know I need to enable DHCP on the access point but everytime I do so the devices connected to the access point lose internet connection.(BTW I have an ethernet cable connected from one of the routers LAN ports into the access point's WAN port)

One Device Won't Connect To Home Wireless Network

Jul 2, 2012

I recently upgraded my wireless router from D-Link DIR-615 to D-Link DIR-685. Before the changeover, all of my devices were connecting to the router, although I had several problems with dropped connections, etc. The devices in use were:

- Desktop computer
- Laptop computer
- All-in-one touchscreen computer
- Netbook
- iPhone (original model)
- HP TouchPad tablet
- Sony Blu-Ray player
- Two internet radios (Aluratek and Livio)
- Wii

ALL of these devices were connected wirelessly to the network. When I set up the new router, I used a different network name/SSID, but kept the same security key/password. All of the router settings were kept the same (e.g., WPA-2, etc.). After the new router was up and running, every single one of the devices listed above connected (after an initial setup with the new network name, of course) EXCEPT the All-in-one/touchscreen computer. I've tried over and over, and it refuses to accept the security key/password. (The desktop, laptop, and touchscreen are all running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.) After doing some research, I tried some suggested solutions, but nothing seems to work. Nothing on the problem computer has changed since it was last connected to the old router. I checked the "Properties" of the network device on both the Desktop (which has no problems connecting) and the Touchscreen, and they are identical: WPA-2, AES, etc. And I'm 100% positive I'm entering the security key correctly. I've rebooted the router and the computer several times.

Home Network :: Public IP On A LAN Device (in Front Of Router)

Mar 19, 2011

I have a video conferencing device that uses a lot of ports and is very bandwidth intensive. I have been messing around with two routers (cheap ISP Thomson and my Netgear DGND3300v2) settings for a couple of months now and I couldn't get it to work properly (ports were getting blocked randomly). I have recently discovered that Netgear has a "secret" page where you can switch the router to a modem mode. I gave the device a public IP and now it works fine (at least so it seems for now). The thing is, I need to connect another device (my PC) to the device via web interface for monitoring purposes. I am wondering what network arrangement would be best for me. I want the video device to have nothing to do with natting or firewalls at all, I want it to have a public IP. However, I also want to be able to connect to it somehow and also share the connection with my PC.

Home Network :: Advanced Home Network Setup (3 Subnets) And Port Forwarding?

Feb 24, 2013

I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc). The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:

- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface

Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range. That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.

- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.

- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.

Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.

Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)

Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).

Home Network :: Need Input On Network At Home Newly Wired

Jan 14, 2012

I am a new student in networking, taking the CCNA courses, and now want to rewire my home. I currently have a cable modem and E2500 setup running my network. I want to get the modem and router out of my computer room and in the basement where the cable enters the house. I want to do this to clean up the computer room wiring a bit and to run line drops to different rooms in the house where the internet will be utilized.Currently there are two PC's, a laptop, a tablet, sometimes a phone, and an XBOX using the internet. I want to get my printer back up and running on the network but thats another story. Only one PC is currently hardwired. I would like to run two cables into the room with the PC and XBOX that are currently using wireless, at least two into the computer room for the PC and network printer, and one or two into the living room for the blue ray player and possibly an internet tv.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Remove Secondary Network From E2500?

May 11, 2012

I set up a linksys e2500 router with name "mynetwork" and WPA2 password.

The network works fine, my laptop connects securely to it.

But when I View Available Wireless Networks , I see a second , unsecure network named "mynetwork-guest" to which my laptop will also connect with no credentials (not sure how that network got there).

How can I find and delete that unsecure network? When I go into my router setup, I only see mynetwork, not mynetwork-guest If it is of any use here is the IP information for both:

The settingd for mynetwork:

IP Address: 192.168.1.133
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Home Network :: Playing MPEG-2 File In Webpage From Home Server?

Dec 20, 2012

I have setup a webserver on my home PC and I have forwarded port 80 on my router to the IP adress of the PC that is running the web server. The web server is working great; I can get to my web pages from outside of my home by going to http://MyIpAddress/Anyway, the problem is with the Windows Media Player plugin I'm using. I want to embed 6GB MPEG-2 videos into my web pages. I have some videos on my PC and I want to be able to watch them remotely by connecting into my web page. It works fine when I'm at home; other PCs can connect and play the videos no problem. The problem is when I'm at work. When I'm at work, I go to my web page (via my IP address in a web browser) and the Media Player plugin says "Connecting" for a minute, then it says Ready, but the video will not play. I tried using a smaller, AVI file (680 MB) instead to see if the problem was streaming such a large file, but the video still would not play.Do I need to foward more ports on my router so that Windows Media Player can connect back and get the information it needs?

Home Network :: Unique Situation With Home Network

Mar 9, 2013

My Set up at home is as follows: [code] Now according to what I have read I should be able to set the subnet on .2.0 network to a subnet of 254 and this gives me 512 Hosts I believe however my question at this point is how to route between 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0.Or when I set the subnet .254 does the router just route it automatically.I would still set the subnet mask on both networks to 254 correct? I believe I can only use 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.255 w/.254 subnet mask. However I already have some servers that are configured with applications (On the 192.168.2.0 network) that I do not want to change ips on because it would be a pain to reconfigure so, my other question is other than using .252 to extend it to 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.3.255, (I need the 192.168.2.0) is there anything I can do? Like use 192.168.1.0 with subnet mask of 255.255.254.0 to get the 192.168.2.0 network? The reason I asked is I was using a subnet calculator to try and figure this out but every time I put in 192.168.1.0 with .254 subnet mask it changed the ip to 192.168.0.1 to 192. 168. 1. 255.I would really like to use the netgear only. The way I have it now is not working I am able to ping the internet from the 192.168.1.0 network but I can't ping from 192.168.2.0 network to the 192.168.1.0 network.
