View 1 RepliesFor awhile every now and then my computer decides it needs to 'acquire network address' on booting up. It never does succeed unless prompted by my going into Wireless Connections and pressing 'repair'. Yet my connection to the Internet is not impeded even while the little yellow ball hovers round mini monitor in the taskbar. It is hovering now as this thread is written. ipconfig reveals Connection Specific DNS suffix is missing, but the IP Address is there. My ZyXel 7087 router shows a fixed W/LAN/WPS and DSL light, but the Internet light is continually flickering, regardless of whether the computer is on. The TCP/IP is set to,'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'. Advanced TCP/IP Settings shows DHCP Enabled. DNS tab - DNS server addresses box is blank 'Append primary and connection specific DNS suffixes' is dotted and 'Append parent suffixes of the primary suffix' is ticked. 'Append these DNS suffixes (in order)' is unchecked. WINS addresses box is blank. 'Enable LMHOSTS lookup' is ticked. NetBIOS setting - Default (checked) - Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server. If static IP address is used or the DHCP server does not provide NetBIOS setting enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Enable & Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP unchecked. While reading the WNC status the computer has found the Network address, but all above remains true.

Since I did not have the password I performed a hard reset. Now when I try to acces any website I receive error 105 ERR_ NAME_ NOT_RESOLVEDThe only difference that I can see now is that there is no longer a connection specific DNS suffix assigned.Could this be the issue? If yes how can I configure this?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi'm using ACS 5.3.0.40.2 and its setup with an AD External Identity store for wireless PEAP MSCHAPv2. AD is configured with Alternate UPN suffixes so that for example: 22056 Subject not found in the applicable identity store(s). ##
I've checked the release notes for 5.3.0.40.5 and there are some changes/fixes for AD but nothing I can see to explain the behaviour above. I'm looking to upgrade to 5.3.0.40.5 soon but I really need the Alternate UPN suffixes to work.mydomain.com is the AD domain namean Alternate UPN suffix of another.com has been added to AD
A valid AD user can add either the @mydomain.com or the @another.com suffixes to their username and login successfully. This works fine with 5.3.0.40.2 but changes when I upgrade to 5.3.0.40.5 - users who use the @mydomain.com login ok but users using the Alternate UPN @another.com fail with the error: [code]
Is it possible to strip suffix on wireless client running PEAP (MS-CHAPv2). ACS version 5.3 (patch 5) - 5-3-0-40-5
Look like ACS 5.1 does not support this - see below link [URL]
Suddenly after more than a year of running fine, my wap seems to be giving all clients a bad DNS suffix which of course breaks DNS resolution internally (no problem with internet resolution). I assume it's a wap problem since all of my wired clients receive the correct suffix. I'm using a RVS4000 router if that makes any difference.

I lost connection for a moment on my computer last Sunday, it connects with a very strong signal but doesn't renew the IP address. I tried Run>cmd>/release>/renew and got a message saying something like "Cannot contact your DHCP server" (something like that anyways)

i'm running xp sp3, but it is not completely updated. (i was offline for about 8 months and missed tons of updates, still slowly getting things up to date but not there yet.) i install new programs all the time, but none that seem to coincide with this particular problem.
starting a few days ago, my internet randomly goes out. when i try to "repair" my connection through network connections, it says windows cannot renew the ip address. going to command prompt and trying ipconfig/release or ipconfig/renew gives a message about RPC not available. however, a simple reboot fixes everything. for a few hours or so.
i haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when the problem occurs. i often leave utorrent and peerblock running when i go to work - no other programs running - this is what first alerted me to the problem, coming home to find that at some point my internet went down and downloads didn't finish. just this evening i was surfing the web, watching youtube videos, when suddenly my connection went out. this time, only firefox was running, so not a problem with utorrent or peerblock. something else is causing the problem.
I am having some issues with my internet connection. release and renew method and using Google's DNS server.
Since last week, I have not been able to connect to the internet. I have had some trouble with this in the past when booting up, but usually I can manually select our wireless network on my own and it works fine. But since last week, I have not been able to connect at all. On the Wireless Connection Status, it showed Limited or No connectivity. I tried the repair button in the Wireless Network Connection Status Support tab, and that told me that I cannot connect because I could not renew my IP address.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two computers - one that is a newer mac with no problems getting on to the wireless home network (from which I'm posting). The other is an older Dell desktop running XP and using a wireless card. I'm trying to setup the desktop on a new network (has worked on other home networks in the past) and I keep getting the "Limited or No Connectivity" and the network repair fails because it can't renew the IP address. In the IP config, I'm getting the default 169.254.x.y.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to go wireless with a desktop PC running Windows XP SP2. I've got a 2WIRE router which works fine when plugged into the computer via an ethernet cable. I purchased a Netgear N300 Wireless USB adapter and installed it - it seems to be working fine.
The trouble is that my wireless connection shows "limited or no connectivity," although the signal strength is "very good." When I try to repair the connection, it tells me that I could not be assigned an IP address.
At the moment I'm working via the Ethernet cable with no difficulty. why the wired connection works but the wireless (from the same router) doesn't, even though it should?
So I have decided to register here and see where that gets meWhen I try to repair my wireless network connection, it gives me the error: "Unable to renew your IP address" accompanied by a little bubble that says something about limited or no connectivity. Other computers are working fine, so I doubt it's the modem. If I try to go into the cmd and type in "ipconfig/release" it says that it's already been released. Then when I type in "ipconfig/renew" it takes a while, but tells me something along the lines of "unable to connect to your DHCP server."I've tried the winsock fix and that hasn't done me any good. I've also tried: netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset reset.log, and netsh winsock reset catalog. All useless.[CODE]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use this computer at work and at home on wireless network. At work it has been fine but at home I sometimes get the "Limited or no conectivity" message. I have not tried any solutions yet as it usually goes away if I reboot and if that does not do it taking it to work (where it works FINE) and then back home ususlly fixes the problem. Last night I was able to go online and google something but when I clicked on a link it did nothing for several minutes and THEN told me I had 'Limited or no conectivity' where just a few minutes before I was 'connected' signal strength 'excellent'. When I click on 'repair connection' it tells me it can not renew IP address. As stated I have not tried anything, changed anything, and there is no one else using computers on the network

My computer stopped connecting a few days ago. It had been working great until then. I have two other computers in the same wireless environment and they are working great. I've done all the preliminary checks and had all the settings checked by Comcast (my internet provider) but they were not able to evaluate the problem without cost. I've been unemployed for the last two years so I need to find another option to correct this issue. Every time I attempt to connect, windows says that they are unable to renew the IP address. Limited or no connectivity is shown. I've also noticed that If I leave the home where I'm trying to connect, I'm able to connect to outside sources like Wayport or any other network without any problem. My router is a Linksys Model #WRT320N. It's working just fine with the other computers in the house. I tried cleaning out all my "preferred networks" in the wireless Network Connection Properties but that didn't work either.

I've run multiple scans on the computer with 3 different programs so have determined it does not appear to be any sort of malware issue but either a windows issue or hardware issue? When this first occurred I performed all the usual steps for repairing the connection, rebooting the router/modem, running IP config to make sure it was even showing up, direct connecting to the router, malware scans, removing dead networks from the auto-connect list, checking TCP/IP properties, checking ipconfig, looking at router settings to make sure nothing is turned off, all to no avail.
I don't know if I missed anything in the areas I looked at, or if I am just looking in all the wrong places. The computer is a Dell Inspiron E1705 with XP Media Center Edition version 2002, Service Pack 3.

I have an RVS4000 located at my office. A user of mine also has one at their house. We have created an IPSec Tunnel between the 2 of them and have them successfully communicating between the 2 networks with no problem.
The problem I have is if I make a change on their end and the router needs to reboot to apply the changes, the WAN port never renews it's DHCP address. The end user must unplug the unit, plug it back in and then the system comes back up with the correct WAN DHCP address, and the tunnel is connected automatically.
I beleive they have the newest firmware (2.0.0.3) but I cannot confirm that right now as the unit is down. I bought the 2 of them at the same time - my unit at the office has the 2.0.0.3 firmware so I am assuming the users does as well.
We currently are using a self-signed cert (for PEAP machine authentication) that was created on an ACS 3.3 appliance. That cert was manually installed on our laptops when they were configured for wireless conenctivity. My problem is, that self-signed cert will soon be expiring and I am not sure what needs to be done to issue a new cert AND deploy it to my Windows XP Pro clients without a service interruption. If possible, I'd like to leverage our exsiting AD infrastructure for this, but I need some direction, and time is of the essence!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several Cisco WAP4410N access points. They are configured to automatically obtain an IP address through DHCP. This works fine, but I've discovered when the DHCP lease expires, the access point doesn't renew it. It continues to use the same IP address but does not renew the lease. If I reboot the access point, it will renew the lease again. Is this a known issue with the WAP4410N? Is there any way to work around this, other than setting a static IP address or rebooting regularly?
