My dad keeps turning off the internet at the worst of times. Especially when i need it. I was wondering if there is a way I can turn It back on and off through mine without getting on his. If I need to get on his to do it is there a way to hack and get the password to his computer. Tired having to ask to get on the internet everyday.

Does not show any problem. But when I ping to the computers that are on the switched which are not directly connected to the same switch but are on the other swtiches. Ping replys some times and some times it gives request timeoue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got wireless internet which I access on two laptops and an ipod touch.Recently, on the ipod touch I have been able to browse for a while then the internet stops loading pages. It shows I am still connected but I have to turn off the WIFI and then turn it back on again and reconnect and everything is ok for a while.Now it is starting to happen on one of the Windows XP Home laptops.I browse for a while, then pages stop loading. I am still connected. If I turn the WIFI adapter on the laptop off then on again and reconnect I can surf for a while. During the period I cannot surf on the laptop I can on the ipod so there is a live connection beyond the router.

My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. I'm having some trouble getting two Cisco 888's to work correctly back to back.. The two routers will ultimately be used in conjunction with a BT EPS8 circuit which is effectively four wires short distance between customer sites. We have configured lots of these using the older Cisco 878's.
Anyway, as i've been struggling to get line sync on site I've gone back to basics and connected the two 888's back to back. However, I've found that no matter what I do I can only get the routers to sync at 384kbps!? And that's with a one meter RJ11-RJ11 cable.. Very strange. When we've used the 878's we get much more bandwidth. I have tried statically assigning the line rate at both ends but it still only works at 384kbps.
I am setting up my lab using two 2901 routers which is running on 15.2 IOS.I am trying to simulate a back to back BRI.BRI Module: WIC-1B-S/T-V3 (x2) one of each router.
I followed this amazing document to understand the concept of BRI and configuration. url..but it never says if i can use the module that i have mentioned.

I have a primary internet connection which is broadband and the secondary connection as a Reliance data card in my laptop. I have noticed that which ever connection,connects the last, becomes the primary connection and if the primary ever goes out, the second connection takes over and gives me continuous connectivity.Is it possible to configure and specify which connection I want to be primary regardless of which connection connects last etc?

So, I know I have internet, as I am writing this now. But for some reason, that computer is now telling me I lost the internet connection. I have tried unplugging everything, restarting the computer, and nothing has worked. I dont know how to get the internet back on that computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an older (but still good) computer...it's gotten to the point of being somewhat less than functional due to remnants of old programs and viruses and such scattered thoughout it. After a few weeks of fighting it to get it to run properly I think at this point my best option is to reformat the hard drive and re-install the original OS from CD. I've already backed up all my important files to CD and DVD, pretty much ready to pull the trigger here.... Concerned about getting back online! I have cable internet (Bresnan)...I want to make sure I have the proper drivers and any applicable software to get back online, I know people have had problems with this after reformatting....The computer is a dell dimension 8400, I'll be returning it to a windows XP home edt. with sp2 from the OS CD, (circa 2004ish). I plan on putting a comodo firewall installation on a CD as well, so I have a functional firewall in place (instead of the crappy norton one that will get re-installed) when I go to get the sp2 updates and the sp3 and updates and not just end up re-infected again...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell XPS desktop, with Widows vista; running on a wireless connection. The Internet connection seems to just turn off randomly. Most of the time it immediately re-connects, but sometimes it just kicks me off completely.
I've already called Dell and as usual, their tech support sucks. They advised me to reset the router and when that didn't work, they had me uninstall Dell Network Manager... which also did not work.
I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

We currently have the 54G plugged into our LAN, the Ethernet cable plugged into one of the Ethernet ports, not the Internet port, on the back. It is giving wireless clients IP addresses according to our main LAN DHCP, as if they were hard-wired which is correct. Bad thing is, I have no idea what IP address is/was assigned to the 54G itself as it was not logged when done, way before my time. I cannot log into it and take a look at its settings and attempt to mimic what is going on in there on something like an E1200.
Therin lies my next questions. What could be occurring on the 54G that is enabling it to dish out like a WAP and does the E1200 support WAP function? If not, which models do that can be added to the 54G?
I have a CISCO modem from SHAW set as bridge. I recently bought a CISCO EA4500 which got automatically upgrade to the current Firmware 2.0.37 after connecting it to my ISP. After a few days I noticed my internet speed was slow. When I checked the router I saw it flipped from 1Gb to 100Mb. Called Shaw they could not figure this one out, while waiting I decided to turn everything off / on and internet port came back to 1Gb. 2 days later same thing again, I just turned off both the modem and EA500 router. A couple of days later again same problem but this time I just turned EA4500 off/on and internet port came back on with 1Gb.Otherwise I will have to turn this one back in to the store for an exchange.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm on a home computer and we use a router to deliver internet connection to the multiple computers in our house.However, lately I have been noticing that occasionally one of the computer's, on the network, internet connection drops but yet all the other computers are still working fine with their internet connection. And the internet doesn't completely turn off, like there is no "X" on the two computer screens down below...it just loses its little globe icon...In order to get back the internet, you would have to basically disconnect from the internet connection network and then go back into it and it's back again.
I was wondering, because I'm starting to get suspicious, is it possible that somebody on the network in my house the deliberately found a way to turn of the internet access for one of the computers? I was alerted by checking different websites that it is possible that somebody on your own home network can "hack" into another computer, view its internet history, and even disable internet. How do I know this is happening for sure and take steps to stop it. I want to catch who is doing this because nobody is telling the truth .
For the past few days my laptop's connect has been really spiky and constantly D/Cs. So I turn on my other laptop to check and its connect works. Then I check my current laptop and the connection works now too. Long story short, I found out that if I turn on my old laptop (also connected thro wireless) my current laptop is able to connect flawlessly. I tried it the other way around, turning off my current laptop and only using my old and it works so it must be a problem with my current laptop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Wireless-N PCI adapter on my Windows XP Home SP3 desktop computer that has been working flawlessly for months, until last night when it suddenly stopped being able to connect.I was just on the web last night doing what I normally do, and all of a sudden out of no where I lost internet connection and I couldn't get it back. I've tried resetting the router downstairs, I've tried restarting and shutting down the computer, and did three system restores (that all failed anyway), and none of these things are getting my connection back. Now also for some reason I can't even open up my network adapter's wireless network manager anymore because it closes itself not even a second after I boot it up.The modem and router downstairs look perfectly fine and all the other computers in the house, even the laptops, can all connect but mine, so something must be up with my network adapter.

There is allot of devices connected, which may affect the speed, but I am sure it shouldn't change upon reboot. I literally reboot every hour or 2 during peek periods.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyway, a neighbour is letting us share their broadband by way of a wifi connection (on a very long USB lead into the front garden...) but this only works on one PC.The PC is right next to the Orange router (Brightbox) but so far I've failed to do anything like bridge the connections from wifi to ethernet to the router and beyond. Should I persevere with this? I don't understand how this would work in terms of DHCP and routing IP traffic.I'm prepared to buy new kit if necessary (but not much). Most of my equipment is wifi enabled but due to the signal strength of my neighbour's wifi you have to be on the front lawn to get a signal.
