I'm using the WAG 160N as bridge to connect to Du Broadband. I changed the setting to bridge and its working properly. However, once turn on the cable TV. The internet connection to wireless gone. How to solve this? Is the WAG 160N suitable for Du Broadband?
View 1 RepliesThe last few weeks my WAG 160N stops accessing the internet perhaps four or five time a day. Pulling the power plug for 20 seconds and reconnecting it usually gets it going again - until the next time.
Also I have noticed the internet light - the right hand LED - is red every so often. The gateway is behind my PC so I haven't been able to see if it always correlates withe the lack of connection.
I have a WAG160N v2 and a UK Online broadbad account, windows xp. The connection intermittmently drops out, approx 15-30 times per day. I have spoken to my ISP and had the line checked (no packet loss issue), checked the settings on the router against my ISP and also updated the router firmware all with no improvement.

The router I'm using as Model WRT-160N V3. My second computer, operating with Windows 7, has complete access; it's the computer on which I'm working right now. I have reset the router (unplugging everything and waiting 15 seconds before plugging in again), and I have rebooted the other computer. I suspect that somehow some of the applicable settings have been modified on the affected computer, but I don't have the knowledge about what the settings should be or where they are maintained.

When I connect my linksys 160n router and plug in my computer I show a connection but can't access the internet. I can ping the bullet and my computer from the router and get a response. I've also borrower a wrt54g router from a friend and have the same problem, The bullet is in bridge mode. My computer is running xp pro.

I have a WAG160N that I've used as a wireless router for ages. I have changed broadband providers and as they have supplied a new router I decided to use that and connect the old WAG160N via a Home Plug AV network and effectively use it as a range extender.
I have read some of the other forum posts and made the following changes:
1) Set up internet as Bridge mode
2) Set DCHP server as relay
When I connect via an ether net cable it works brilliantly but as soon as I try to connect wireless I can't talk to the internet.
Half of the time i have to stay at hotel due to business trip. The hotel i stay will provide free internet broadband with cable but no WIFI. Can i set up WIFI if i have router?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WAG160N with firmware V1.00.16 (version 1 device).The router is connected via ethernet to my main iMac running Lion 10.7.2, although the issue's I'm having have occurred for some time before upgrading to Lion or its's latest update.Firstly, devices I connect to the router wirelessly such as my iPad and iPhone will allow me to use the internet on said devices for about ten minute then the internet will simply stop. The device is shown as connected (checking the wifi settings on iPad etc show the router is still seen). If I switch WI-FI off on the device, then back on, internet is restored. It's not an internet provider issue as I can use the net all day on my ethernet-connected iMac without a problem.My printer is connected to my iMac via USB and shared with other devices. It is seen on my Macbook which connects wirelessly via the router. If I try to print from the macbook, the print job will not progress until I re-start the router. Likewise, there are applications that I sync between my ipad and iMac via iTunes with my mac connected via the USB cable. The iPad will not bee seen by the iMac unless I re-start the router. My Apple TV will only sync wirelessly with the iMac if I re-start the router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've bought a "WAG160N v1.0 Annex A" almost 2 years ago. I never used it's wireless feature untill we moved our house. Now it's like 4 month I'm using its wifi feature and I've got to admit I'm really frustrated by its functionality!
For months the modem just dropped wireless connection constantly in various time periods. Somtimes it went like 2 days without any problem but some other times I had to change channel every 15 minutes for it to get back working. And yes it didn't get fix until I changed the channel, otherwise clients had to wait several hours for a 50/50 chance of reconnection. Now It's two days the changing channel trick no longer works. I tried all channels and even put my notebook next to the modem but no luck. The notebook sometimes connnects to the access point but disconnects after a few seconds. Somtimes it doesnt even detect the SSID of my WAG160N modem. Some friends suggested that the wireless hardware of my modem is broken and no longer works but I'm eager to know if it is broken why is it still broadcasting and sending signal.
I've tried everything from upgrading and downgrading firmware to turning on and off the modem several times and changes modem position. And even tried the G-only 20MHz mode.We are at a very crowdy place. Using inSSIDer I could pick about 15 other access points. Only few of them are using Wireless-N, most of them are using Wireless-G.This is the inSSIDer diagram of my WAG160N modem from a client: [code]
Because I have more than 10 mtrs of extension lead between my phone socket and my wireless router I am considering adapting my desktop computer to wireless.Will this speedup my broadband and improve my connection.?

I uninstalled the att software but the pppoe settings remain and my computer says my network is unidentified and will only allow local connection. My XP computer had no problem making the change but the Vista one keeps saying it is an unidentified network. I have tried turning everything off and then restarting the cable and then the computer but it does not work. I have a wireless adapter and can connect the Vista machine to the network with no problem but need a wired connection for games I play so I need to fix the wired problem. I am sure the settings the ATT software changed is the problem but I don't know how to get into the system to fix the problem. There is no router involved. The router is built into the cable modem.

Sometimes it will stay connected for a few minutes and other times it will stay connected for several hours. The only way to get it connected again is to reboot.I have used 2 other routers (D-Link DIR-300 and BT Home Hub 3.0) on the same line and haven't had any disconnection issues with them, so the problem must be a hardware/software fault on this router or I have set it up incorrectly.Judging by a number of posts I found online, there seems to be a general problem with DSL connections dropping on the X2000, especially on earlier firmware versions. I have subsequently upgraded to the latest firmware (Ver.2.0.01 (Build 4)), reset and reconfigured twice, but nothing has worked so far.Unless I can get this working in the next few days I am going to have to return it, which is a shame because the performance of the router is great when it's working!Would someone be able check I have configured the DSL settings on the router correctly?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been using a WAG320N since January. Around a week ago I came home to find the unit attempting to reconnect every few minutes - the DSL light flashing but nothing happening.
I replaced with an old Belkin unit which worked fine straight away.
i have upgraded the firmware, which made no difference, and secondly, tried a brand new unit, which strangly had the same problem even though the ancient belkin unit works first time and my original cisco unit worked for a couple of months before failing.
Are there any settings that relate to the DSL connection that may have been reset on the original unit? Could this be an issue related to signal quality or anything similar?
the other day i set up a new internet connection and to set it up they sent me a WAG160Nv2 modem router and after hours of trying to get it working the technical support guy told me it cant be set up until the dsl led comes on, so what it being off means/how to get it to turn on?

Until yesterday, my provided internet speed was up to 7mbps. I received the same speed regardless of whether my computer was plugged in directly to the modem (1), plugged directly into the router (2), or wirelessly. We just upgraded our internet to 40mbps. Now, I get the 40 mbps when my computer is plugged into the modem or router, but wirelessly I only get about 4 mbps, 1/10th of what I get with wired.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8 recently at my new Dell PC.I have upgraded my PC Drivers and get the latest Win8 update on line.My ISP has came up with a latest version of 4G Connection Manager (software) to allow me to login to the Wireless Network.I am using a small pen like modem called Dongle.
The performance of the new Connection Manager is uncertain, sometime I can logon to the network easily after starting, but sometime I don't.The searching for the network only last for 3 seconds and could not proceed further to detect and connect to the network.The present sucessful rate is about 50%.

May I know if there is any quick fix for this problem such as resetting the control panel / device manager etc to get 100% successful connectivity as in Win 7 PC?
Our family has about three computers that use a wireless network that we all share. We have an old Gateway, a WCG200, that is bridged to an E2000, which was set-up ever since we required better security when someone used our connection to illegally obtain movies. We got a letter which warned us of any future violations that could cause legal action, so we looked into our wireless connection to better secure it from any other individuals outside of our household. The WCG200 is connected to the outlet in the wall via cable, and then connects from the Ethernet to the E2000. The E2000 has a stronger security setup than the WCG200, which is the advice we received from our ISP and would allow us to keep the Gateway. It provides a strong signal, but from time to time, we suffer latency or slow loading through all of our online devices, even though our connection speed displays a solid 72.0 Mbps. I've tried the Event Viewer to see any problems, and I have noticed some small things:
- WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.Wirel?
- WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped. Module Path: C:WindowsSystem32cmihvsrv64.dll
- The server {E10F6C3A-F1AE-4ADC-AA9D-2FE65525666E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
- Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet: The network link is down. Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected. [This last one is strange, since I use the Wireless Network Connection with a DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card, while the Broadcom adapter is under the Local Area Connection and displayed as not connected.]
Other than that, I'm not quite sure what the recurring problem comes from. Our WCG200 has a firewall enabled and our E2000 has an SPI firewall enabled. The security mode of the E2000 is a WPA2 setup. We have disabled the wireless network of our WCG200 in order to make use of the E2000.
I do love your products and I am not just sucking your *beep*, but could you please update the firmware on this modem (DPC 3008). There are a lot of people that are having issues with losing their internet connection when it comes to this modem. It doesn't matter who the ISP is, doesn't matter what we try to do to fix this. I read somewhere that after you updated the firmware in 2011 on this modem is when your customers starting having issues. Now I just bought this modem a few weeks ago so I don't know for sure. All I can say is if this issue doesn't get resolved, I am going to smash the *beep* out of it and never recommend your products to anyone as well as never purchase another product from you. I like you I really do, but I am tried of losing my internet connection when I am playing my games or watching movies. People have stated that they removed your modem for a different brand and their issues were resolved. I am giving you a chance to show me that you value your customers and you will resolve this issue in a timely manner

It seems to coincide with this date that I keep loosing my internet connection on a regular basis, say every 2 days or so, but not consistent. The cure is to unplug the linksys WAG200G ADSL home gateway. Plug it in again and all is well, until the next time. On the box it says the until is ADSL2/2+ compliant.

I'm having a problem with my WCG200 wireless gateway. I can sucessfully use it to connect to the internet using the wireless feature but only for a short time (10-30min at a time). Eventually, I loose the connection. I'm not sure if it's a modem issue or an ISP issue but only one of my two laptops has this trouble.
Symptom: Connecting with a Dell Lattitude E5520 laptop It works normally until the "US" and "Online" LEDs turn off and only the DS light is left blinking. At that time I no longer have a connection to the internet. Once I cycle power on the WCG200 it re-connects and works for a while, then the same issue repeats. I cleared the modem log and let the failure occur again to record the fresh log.
I attached the Modem Log in case that would troubleshoot. I've got the security of the modem set to allow the laptops MAC addresses and using WPA-personal / TKIP encryption. I never had this problem until I started using a new laptop, I'm starting to suspect that my ISP is disconnecting that laptop for some reason ?
