I have DSL on my computer which runs windows 7, using verizon's Westell model 7500. My wife's desktop computer in another room runs windows XP. I purchased a new Linksys USB adapter model N600 which includes an installation disk for her computer. My question: How do I get them to work together so she also has internet connection for her email, etc???

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get a wireless adapter to work on my newly purchased desktop. Tried 2 different brands, same result: After installing drivers, resetting wireless router etc. the wireless connection sometimes shows up but can't be connected to. I used:
1) TP link wireless adapter
2) Netgear N600 wireless dual band usb adapter.
The netgear one I'm using right now just says, "scanning" constantly. Here's diagnostics:

View 2 Replies View RelatedEarlier my desktop was to b in d same place where the router was der. Everything worked fine. Now I decided to shift my desktop to another room. I have kept the router at the earlier place only. I have brought a 25m long new cat 5 cable. When I connected it to my desktop, the orange led on ethernet port do not light up and the desktop is unable to detect the ethernet cable and hence the internet connection. On the router, a light of ethernet keeps on blinking every 1 second. I was worried whether my ethernet port got fried. So i inserted another ethernet cable, but then the ethernet orange light came and the pc detedted the connection. Therefore I thought the cable might be faulty. Therefore I connected my laptop with that 25m cable. But my laptop detected it and showed the internet connection. But now when i again connect the cable to my desktop, there's no light and the pc does not detect it. However, if i connect the 25m cable to my desktop then during boot the ethernet light on router is stable just as when it is normally connected to the internet. But when i go into windows it starts blinking every 1 second.

My desktops _usually_ connect, and then the connection will drop/go slow(14400 slow)/give that little yelow triangle on top of the wifi icon.First i had an edimax wifi PCI, now i have a trendnet wifi PCI. They both do the same thing.If i connect my HTC hero and start internet sharing, it works very well, and is stable. My ethernet works fine as well. It is like my computer is immune to PCI cards?I have tried with different wifi APs now, but its still the same.I have a zyxel adsl modem, and a linksys wifi AP hooked up to that. I noticed, that when my desktop is connected, the zyxel will get some kind of overflow from the linksys. It says "client reached max number of sessions per host" It's like my desktop is killing the network. I have tried many things. Drivers, fail safe, registry cleaner(I know), killing all unnescessary program, switching the PCI ports, but none of it seems to work.
I had my laptop running connectify (access point app) and it actually worked fine, but today it won't connect to that either.I'm going to create another partition on my harddrive, and install fresh windows 7 on that, and see if it does the same. But even if it doesn't I _want_ to find out what is causing this instabillity.When i try running the network diagnostics, it says DNS error, or that the router is fail. But my laptop works fine.Also, when doing speed tests, my laptop gets normal speeds, and my desktop is VERY slow DL, but normal UL ?In speed tests my desktop is very slow, but stable, but during the test, my laptop will first go like 2 mb/s - 3mb/s DL and suddently BURST up to like 64 mb/s although i only have 10 mbit line? It's like its buffering or something. Very weird behaviour, but working fine.And no, i do not have torrent programs or whatever running.Some says that i shout try and change wifi channel and bands, and avoid "mixed" mode, but none of it works. Always the same problem.ATM. my computer can't connect to any wifi at all. It keeps having the yellow triangle.
So I recently updated my desktop to windows 7 and I have lost the CD for my E3000 router. My desktop doesn't have a wireless adapter I always had it set up on a direct connection. So I went to the E3000 support and downloaded the software on my laptop and burned it to a DVD and put it in my desktop so I could update the drivers manually and be able to connect to the internet. But it seems the software only supported wireless connections, am I just sol? Is there some way to get my desktop to update the drivers for the router?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus Model U56E. Recently the wireless has been disappearing whenever I turn off my laptop. What I mean is that when I turn on my laptop, the wireless doesnt seem to exist. I go under device manager and all I have is the eternet and my bluetooth device. About 85% of the time, when I go under "action" and click on "scan for hardware changes" the my Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N1030 will show up along with the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adaptor and I'll get my wireless back. However, when my laptop turns off, the same thing happens.
In addition, my fn F2 button no longer seems to work. I'll press on it and majority of the time my light that signals that the wireless is working does not turn on. Most of the time it stays off whether or not I am connected to the wireless
This is what I already attempted to fix it, based on googling for answers:
1. Under the properties of my wireless and miniport adapter, I went under power management and unchecked the box that says "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
2. I went to my laptop's power plan and changed all my wireless adapter settings "power saving mode" to maximum performance for both battery and cord
3. I went to the intel website, had it look at my laptop wireless system and followed their recommendation of installing an updated wireless software thing. All that happened was that it told me to disable my old wireless and then install it. However, even though I followed their instructions, it continued to repeat the same message. I had to perform a system restore to get my old wireless back
4. I disabled wireless console 3 (by Asus) under programs and it seemed to work. My laptop was getting connected whenever I turned it on. However, the next day my laptop updated itself (b/c of my system restore) and I am back to the same situation except my wireless console is still disabled.
I have a Dell desktop with Windows 7, a Dell laptop with Windows XP & a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 7. I bought a new router for faster internet speed - Netgear N600. I now have internet on the two laptops, the Kindle Fire HD & my Iphone. I cannot access the internet on the desktop. It shows that I am connected to an unidentified network but I can't get online. The techs I talked to said it's a problem with my computer but I didn't have that problem before.

cloud => cable modem => RV082 => DIR655 => win7 PC
At a remote site, I fire up QUICKVPN, enter necessary data and successfully connect. Bring up Remote Desktop and put in the IP of my home pc and the logon username and, after a minute or two, it says "unable to connect to the computer" (or words to that effect). My home PC has been configured to allow remote desktop connections and this has occured in the past but not since the RV082 installation. There is nothing in the PC's logs nor in the RV082's logs.

Downstairs I have an older Dell PC that I use for my business. I have an Ethernet run from upstairs to downstairs. The Ethernet jack upstairs is near a cable outlet because we used to have cable internet. Now we have DSL and the phone jack is on the other side of the room. Here's my question... I have a Belkin N600 wireless router, is there any way I can plug it into the Ethernet port on the other side of the room, and use it like a wireless adapter? I have tried a few time to set it up as an "access point" but it doesn't seem to work. As soon as I do, I can no longer access the Belkin router to make any changes and I need to do a manual reset. can I plug my downstairs PC into the Belkin N600, and have wi-fi internet access from the wireless modem/router upstairs?

I can connect to the internet just fine directly but when I try the netgear it tells me No Internet Connection. When I go through the setup process it tells me No Ethernet Cable is Plugged Into The Router Internet Port. When I hook up my very old Cisco router the internet and Wi-fi work just fine. Im running a fairly simple server from my own desktop. However my desktop is connected to the internet via Wifi. When i make my static IP i am still conected to the internet. However I cant load any pages in mozilla firefox. Though! I can still talk to people on skype and Dolby Axon voice chat. how do i make the static IP without losing any functionality of my desktop, because it is my desktop, I use it for other things.

At first, the only way we could get this to work was by skipping the router and plugging directly in to the modem. This is not ideal - so after receiving no response here to this question - I did the following - I put his PC (by IP) in a DMZ. This has done the trick - but will only work until the next time his IP address changes.
