I bought a cisco 881 router exactly like the one I had . It was configured the same way but cannot get connected to internet.The new router settings do not have an NAT on it, my IT guy turned it on through the console port and we till cannot get it to work?

What configurations do I need to enter into the RV016 to allow other networks connected to the firewall(192.168.3.0, 192.168.2.0) to access the internet?
I've got an RV042 router at home and am connected from my office via the QuickVPN client ver 1.4.1.1.2. I can ping the RV042 and log into the administration page and make changes. However, I can not see other computers on the remote network. I can not ping them. When I open my Network page, I still see the computers on my local network.
All machines are running Windows 7 Ultimate. ISP is Comcast at both locations. WAN IP's are dynamic, but have not changed in over a year. Local IP's on the remote (home) network are static..[url]....
I have configured 2 RV042 VPN with different ISP. Tunnel connected successfully and i can ping each other router but i can't access clients which are connected to router. I have added rules also in firewall.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT120N with two desktops connected via wired connections.In the house, there are two students accessing the Internet through WiFi via the WRT120N.One of the laptops (on an Apple laptop) seems to lose its' connection from time to time.The other laptop (Lenovo) is located the furthest distance from the router and only gets two bars signal strength.Would my best option to improve the signal strength for the Lenovo laptop and hopefully, also increase reliability for the Apple laptop be to purchase a new router such as a Linksys E1500 with speed boost or would it be best to try a Linksys range extender (RE1000)?

I can access the internet by Ethernet in the family room just fine.What I want to do is use a WRT31N as a switch in my family room so I can connect Mulitple Ethernet devices to the network. I'm having a hard time doing this. How to set up the linksys router? The airport extreme ip address is 10.0.1.1. I tried setting the linksys to 10.0.1.2 and turning off dhcp, but didn't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the DIR-655, Rev. B running 2.07NA firmware, and have a strange problem with my wired clients. I have my primary computer/desktop PC connected via wired connection. I also have several wireless clients (laptop, iPad, iPhones, etc.). All have been performing normally. However, in December I connected a wired weather internet bridge to another ethernet port on the DIR-655.
It functions as it is supposed to, and all other connected devices do as well. But here's the problem - whenever I use the desktop PC (the only other wired connection) to do anything on the internet (mostly just web browsing ... I don't stream media from the internet on it, I don't do torrents....nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing really of high bandwidth), the wired weather bridge cannot communicate with its associated website. This continues as long as I'm using the desktop PC. When I stop using the desktop, the weather bridge resumes normally.
I have researched the weather bridge, and it is simply doing POST transactions (or so I'm told) to the website listening to it. It doesn't wait for acknowledgements or anything...just keeps POSTing updates. I tried reserving an IP for the weather bridge and the desktop, enabling QoS, and prioritizing the weather bridge (100 vs. desktop at 125), but it didn't work. I've tried moving the weather bridge into the DMZ. I'm totally baffled how just using the desktop to browse the internet could completely block the traffic from the weather bridge.
On the weather bridge support site, they suggested that I insure I'm not connected in gigabit speeds from my computer to the router, because in the past that has been known to cause issues on clients not running that speed, but I don't think my desktop is connected in that fashion. According to the settings, it can do 10 or 100, full or half. I have it set to AUTO.
I have a PPTP VPN server (WIndows 2008 R2) sitting behind an RVS4000, I have port forwarding for 1732 on and the client's (Windows 7) can reach the VPN server but cannot complete the connection due to an 806 error, which is GRE traffic related. I have PPTP passthrough on and have also created a ACL entry for PPTP traffic. I've seen many posts on this topic over several years with no solutions, and I do have the latest firmware (Version:V1.3.3.5). This is also definetely router related as I have absolutley no problem connecting when I point directly to the VPN server by internal IP address.

I want to connect my internet DSL router on the WAN port and also segment my network with VLANs on the 4 LAN ports. I have port 4 connected to a wireless access point which is in VLAN1 for an open wireless network for any church member to access the internet through. I have a church server, printer and second access point on ports 1-3 in VLAN 34. All ports are untagged. I want the devices on VLAN34 which need confidentiality to be secure from the devices connecting to the internet from VLAN1 for open access but both VLANs need access to the internet..
My open wireless AP in VLAN1 has access to the internet on the WAN port.None of my devices in VLAN34 have access to the internet. I have tried using inter-VLAN routing but that made operation worse so I disabled it.
I have a WRT54GS router, and starting today I am completely unable to access the internet through it. If I connect my computer directly to my modem, I can access the internet, but if I try to connect through the modem, all I get is "DNS server not responding".I've tried changing the DNS server address on the router configuration page, but it doesn't work.

I have a BEFSR41 V2 router connected to a westell c90 modem and my provider is Bellsouth.net (AT&T). I have the modem set to PPPoE and DHCP enabled. I am using the router as a gateway. The router's status page indicates that is communicating with the modem. Release and renew works and I can detect the addresses of the modem. I just can't pull up websites. I am wondering if this router (12 years old) is not compatable with the service.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys RPT300 (firmware 3.1.27) which I need to pass magic packets on port 9 to internal computer. on LAN the WOL works perfectly.I have masked my local lan to 255.255.255.128 to be able to broadcast on another subnet address than x.x.x.255 which the web interface dont seem to allow.Local LAN is 192.168.15.x and I have created a port forward on port 9 UDP to local broadcast address wich would then be 192.168.15.127. However nothing comes through and I cant seem to find a setting to enable/disable internet broadcasts. Is there a work around?

I've looked through so many articles and posts on here, I've fixed the winsock, I tried the netsh winsock and the netsh int ip reset reset.log, but when I put in netsh int ip reset reset.log in the command prompt, nothing happens after I press enter. I've updated through microsoft updates, and updated some drivers from the hp website. Ive repaired, and tried restarting the router, and even the modem and nothing changed. It's still connected, but the interenet still is not working. The modem is fine, as when I disable the wireless connection, the internet works. I'm not sure what happened, but yesterday afternoon, all of the sudden, I couldn't load webpages. I went and power cycled the router and modem and everything, still nothing works. It says I am connected to it and the Internet, but webpages will not load. I'm a little confused because the program Skype was working, but nothing else was. Any idea how to fix this? I am now successfully able to access the machine via the external IP without issue, however the server is no longer able to ping any external IPs?
the machine has been assigned a static IP of 192.168.2.5 and static DNS servers.
I have a BEFSR41...about 2x a week when connecting to internet I have to pull and replug router in order to get on-line.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the firmware on my BEFS41 v4.3 to the Ver.2.00.4 Build 8, off the cisco website. After I received the successfully upgraded message, I could no longer connect to the internet, nor could I connect to the router's configuration page. I tried to do a few hard resets and connecting it to other computers to see any other computers could connect to it, no luck. I tried connecting one computer just to the router, without the internet plugged in, and tried to ping 192.168.1.1 but I received a "transmit failed, error code 1231." Is there anyway I can access this and change the firmware, or am I screwed?

No internet output from WRT54G wired or wireless, but wireless network is recognized by computer, just no internet. I did a reset and installed the latest firmware, then I ran thru the setup CD that came withe the router, and the internet test said no internet connection was available. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a RV082 Linksys router and at the moment it is slowing down my internet connection by a significant amount. With the router, I get about 3 Mbps and with a modem directly connected to my computer I get about 24 Mbps. Before with the router I used to get 15 Mbps, which is understandable because it is connected to 4 computers total. Maybe my setup has something to do with it. I got a cable that is connected to a modem, the modem is connected to the router, from which one port is connected to a computer, and another is used to connect to a Netgear switch, which in turn is connected to 3 more computers.
Everything was fine until I went on a trip and wasn't home for about 2 weeks, and when I came back, this happened. I tried restarting the modem, the router and all to no avail. I also tried to do a factory reset on the router and again got slow speeds.
I have a Linksys RV082 Wired router. It works great but doesn't do wireless. I have a Cisco/Linksys E2500 Wireless router for my wireless devices to use. the RV082 is on the 192.168.1.x network. The E2500 is on the network 192.168.0.x network. The Internet cable goes to the Wired RV082, and a line comes out of there to the wireless router. This all works fine except for a couple inconveniences.I have an iPad that connects wirelessly and some of the apps offer an http:// option so I can transfer files to that app. I also have a network printer hooked in wired, but wireless devices can't see it.I have 2 problems:
1) In order to transfer files from my laptop (which I have hooked in to the wired network most of the time), I have too disconnect the wire, connect wirelessly, then I can transfer the files. Works, but it's inconvenient.
2) I would like a netbook that I have on the wireless connection to be able to print to my wired network printer.
It appears that the 2 networks are not seeing each other. Here are the things that I have tried:
1) I disabled the DHCP on the wireless router. My thought is that requests for an IP address sent to the wireless router would be forwarded along to my wired router... NOT. On my iPad and Wii, they could no longer connect wirelessly. Strangely enough, with the wire disconnected and connecting wirelessly with my laptop, I was still getting a 192.168.0.x IP address, even though DHCP was disabled on the wireless router.
2) Thinking that I would just manually put the wireless router on the 192.168.1.x network, instead of telling it to get an IP dynamicaly from the Internet connection, I manually set it's IP to 192.168.1.245. Bad mistake. I could not connect to it at all from anywhere then. The only way I could fix that was to hook it wired to my notebook, assign a static IP to my notebook on the same network as the router, then I could got to the setup page and set things back the way it was.
Another thing... Even when I'm only connected wired on my notebook and wireless is disabled, I can ping 192.168.0.1 (the wireless gateway) and it returns a value. But, when I try to go there in a browser, I get a "page not found" error.
My BEFSR81 router has never been a problem for over 10 years.All of a sudden I can not connect to the internet..I only use the router for connecting 2 PCs to the internet modem. I have not changed any configuration. tried my IPS COX recommendation to disconnect the power for about 1 minute then try again with no luck. CoX said they tried pinging my router but could not get a reading. While waiting for them to come up with a solution, I hooked one of my PCs directly to the modem. It worked. So I tried it with the other PC. But it didn't work right away. It kept trying to dial up for a connection. I finally got the WIZARD to get it configured correctly. I assume it must be a router problem because either one of my PCs can get an internet connection when hooked to the modem. I did not pusue any further with COX, THEIR AUTOMATED TROUBLE SHOOTER WAS GETTING ON MY NERVES.Should I take the time to resolve the issue with the router or buy a new or refurbished router? If the task isn't too complicatged, I am willing to try and fix it.

When I connect my linksys 160n router and plug in my computer I show a connection but can't access the internet. I can ping the bullet and my computer from the router and get a response. I do not have a modem in my flat from ISP, only a cable, since the internet is set for every apartment in the building. I have a username and password that I use to connect. There is no problem connecting with the cable. I set up by Belkin wireless router and I'm actually connected to internet wireless but it only works if I also enable the primary ISP connection on my computer so my laptop is connected to internet without a cable. But this weird connection does not allow me to connect my phone to wireless or any other computer. Also the router settings site says not connected to internet and the internet light on Belkin is off.I have a Slovenian ISP -Amis, cable connection and Belkin Wireless modem, Avira Free antivirus.

Right now, I have full bars for connectivity on all my devices (Acer Aspire laptop running Windows 7 starter) when the Ethernet cord is connected from the modem to the router, but I have no internet access. Only when my laptop is connected directly to the modem, I have access to the internet (but ofcourse no wireless).
