View 1 RepliesI'm a big fan of Cisco products and recently have purchased an E4200. I always connect my iPod classic to the router and listen to the music on my ps3 and laptop. The only problem is that I can't make any playlists since the media server creates a different link to a song, every time I reconnect my iPod. It'd be great if you allow the server to create links like below. I'm sure all the users will e much happier with it! [URL] like this.
Something tells me I'll never see the day that I can activate this feature on my E4200. Anyways, I leave it to your engineers make it happen...
I am encountering very odd browsing errors when using this router. URLS are being redirected to the wrong IP addresses.

Is there anyway I can disable this becuase the kids stay up all night trying to figure out the password to log in, I just want it to say internet access blocked with no option for logging in for the blocked user.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up WHS 2011 for the first time. When attempting to set up Remote Web Access, WHS continues to recoginze my E4200 model information and router IP address but delivers the message 'Remote Web Access to Your Server is Blocked'. Cisco and MS say the router is compatible with WHS and that it should set up through the wizard but no luck following many attempts, including manual set up of DHCP Reservation and Single Port Forwarding on ports 80/443 (not sure I did this correctly).
I've taken the router back to default settings with the exception of enabling Remote Management under the Remote Management Access section of the Administration menu tab; tried again with the same result. What settings to change to make this work?
I setup several devices in the Parental Controls to be blocked always. These devices are still able to connect to the router. I tried rebooting the router but the problem persists. I have two laptops and two iPod Touches that can connect regardless of the access restrictions.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased and set-up the EA4500 on Thursday. Friday my ISP (Charter) was out and worked on connection for over 2 hours due to slowness issues. Connected directly to modem I get normal ping times on whichever computer is connected. When I get the computer connected by the router (hard wired) I get very long ping responses up to 900ms. They are all over the place 30ms (I can live with that), up to the 900's. I contacted Linksys support last night, who had me update to the cloud firmware and change MT U to 1300, have not noticed a difference. I did end up doing a hard reset on the router last night after I lost tech support. We were disconnected with router rebooted, and I didn't have the patience to connect again last night.
It was so slow on my work computer, a pint to yahoo timed out. The computers connecting to router are
XP SP3 (mine)
Win 7 Home (IPV6 turned off)
Work laptop that uses VPN and VOIP
I have an e2000 wireless router and have several devices connected by ethernet cable including private data on an external hard drive. I am planning to allow a tenant in another building connect via an ethernet cable connected to my router. Can I limit that computer (tenant's computer) from accessing all other devices connected by ethernet cable to my router? I know can password protect wireless access and limit access to the internet that way -- but my question is specifically to connections by ethernet cable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy E4200 router no longer accepts any WIRED connections. I can connect from the modem to the computer and everything works as expected. I can connect other computers wirelessly to the router. I cannot connect any laptops WIRED to the router. Nothing has changed on the systems to restrict internet access. There is something wrong with the router and the WIRED ports. I tried going through the troubleshooting on this site but it was of little to no assistance. The Cisco Connect utility doesn't appear to accomplish anything either. My guess is because I cannot connect to the WIRED ports on the router to connect to the internet to allow for whatever troubleshooting that needs to be done.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a home network with a wired BEFSR41 that, for a variety of reasons, MUST be manually IP configured (DHCP off). All computers and other devices connected to it are manually IP configured. I desire to add a device that cannot be manually configured, and needs DHCP. I therefore need to daisy-chain two routers with the second one DHCP on (and manual IP connection to the main network). The new device needs two-way internet access, but doesn't care if it sees any other current network devices. I've tried several configurations, none seem to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.
I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time. I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time. With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died. The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything. Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.
Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours. Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.
I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1. I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen. I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.
In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out. I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.
I have been trying to get port forwarding to work for a week now with no luck. I use Centurylink for Adsl, modem is a zyxel 660r, router wrt54g, running windows 7.I have made my modem a bridge only. I have set my computer to a static ip. I have followed all the instructions for port forwarding on linksys. Still my ports show blocked no matter what check I use on the Internet.

I have 1 firewall module of ASA 5510. I am trying to block some URL's in it via ASDM but not working.
So far tried by following standard cisco doc which shows hwo to enable URL blocking via ASDM n via regex. Not working in my case.
I purchased a SA520W for my company, and i have some probles for configuring firewall. I want to deny access to facebook, youtube and twitter but not for 4 hosts which needs this websites for work. I tried to configure content filtering > blocking URLs but with this solution, I deny acces for all users, So, I tried to make IP v4 rules :
The 4 hosts who may access to these websites are 192.168.50.124 to 127
Example :
FROM Zone : LAN
TO : WAN
Service : Any
Action: block always
Source hosts : 192.168.50.32 to 192.168.50.123
destination hosts : 66.220.158.11 (one of the facebook's ip)
but it does not work. So, I am looking for an other solution, or maybe my rule is not correctly configured ?
I have a linksys rv082 VPN router with 35-50 computers, 2 VPN connections, 4 servers. I wondering if replacing the linksys rv082 router with a cisco rv180 VPN router is a good idea. According to the rv180's specifications, it seems to be a good router, my concern is that it looks small in size in comparation with the linksys rv082. I wonder if the rv180 can handle the work and the trafic of my network. I would like to know if it is ok to replace it or what are the risks.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy company uses a pair of 5510 ASAs as the gateway to Internet. I once configured policy-map to filter certain webpages (facebook, twitter, ...etc) and they work fine. However nowdays those websites all support HTTPS. In the https the URL seems encrypted so can't do regex match... Is there anyway that I can still block those webpages?
Another two ways I can think of are
1. Block IPs (don't really want do this unless absolutely necessary)
2. Block DNS for the URL (however they can work around by setting static DNS entries)
I have a ASA 5520 upon which I need to build a WebVPN for the company urls - webmail, intranet portals etc. There will be 2 groups -
a. Confidential Access - For senior management.
b. Public Access - For employee access.
RSA Token & LDAP auth would be used for access to the WebVPN. However, I am unclear on certain aspect. How do I isolate the 2 groups? I mean only Senior management should be able to view & access the first set of links while employees see and access the other set of links only. Both the groups will be available to all users loggin on to the WebVPN. Since the authentication mechanism - LDAP - is the same, anyone would be able to access the groups and in turn, urls.
How to block the unwanted urls or sites in firewall?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs we are unable to control downloads and P2P use in our network, we are thinking to block all ports except 80 and 443 in our router so that they can only browse and use them only for office use. They should also be able to use messengers like skype, YM, MSN and also download any attachments in email.I wonder if we implement this, will it going to work or will there be any problem in accessing normal websites too? I know to control downloads there are many premium hardware and software firewalls out there but we don't want to invest any thing for now.I also know PTP clients can still use 80 and 443 ports to connect but it will need user to change manually port so it's fine with us.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am contemplating replacing my Juniper Netscreen 5GT with this new RV180.
serial number 161303LB
RVC180 V01
However, it will not connect to my ISP (DSLExtreme) using the same settings I have been using for multiple years. DSLExtreme is using AT&T DSLAMS, as you likely know, and I am unaware of anything unique about how they serve DHCP?
The Cisco wizard sits on the WAN configuration check forever, and never connects. I have rebooted it and allowed it to sit for fifteen minutes trying. I think that is enough.
The 5GT WAN interface is configured for "DCHP Client" and that is how the RV180 is configured.
It is a standard 6MB DSL line, I have tried both the existing cable, as well as the provided one to connect to the D-Link 2320B modem/bridge, which, as I indicated, syncs almost instantly with the Netscreen. No difference when the cables are swapped.
I am encountering an issue with IPv6 trace route both from within LAN as well as on the Cisco router is unable to function beyond the WAN interface of my Cisco 1941 router with IOS v15.x.

Uninstalled McAfee. Installed Frontier Secure, which uses the Windows Firewall. Received Windows Security Alert message that my Belkin USB Storage Center (where the printer is listed) was being blocked, and would I like to allow access. I selected "Allow Access". Printer has not been connecting all week. No error messages - it tries to connect, and then just stops. Can't find issues with the router or the printer - only with the firewall. Everything looks the way I assume it should - the printer is listed in the Belkin storage center. The Belkin storage center is listed in the firewall. There is no tech support for the firewall. There is no tech support for the printer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPreviously we had a 5512 ASA setup and working properly. We had several internal address static nat'd to external address and were able to access our servers externally. Unfortunatley, when it came time to setup our site to site vpn we found out our ISP was blocking the necessary traffic on the IP we were using for the ASA's outside interface. We ended up having to buy a RV180 to act as a dummy router to assign the restricted IP to on its outside interface and put the ASA behind it so we could assign it an unrestricted IP for it's outside interface for the site to site vpn.
The problem is our NAT and access rules are no longer working. Internet access works fine however. We haven't even set the site to site vpn stuff up yet either. What do we need to change in either the ASA or the router to get this working again. I don't even know where to begin with providing any pertinent information for diagnosing the problem.
I want to ask if is possible to configure the RV180 behind my DSL Router to connect using QuickVPN. First I tried to connect to the PPTP server and worked fine, but when I tried to connect using QickVPN, seems to connect but when the client says "verifying network" after a while appears the message "network not responding..."
In my DSL-Router forwared this ports: UDP: 500,4500,443,60443 - TCP: 443,60443 (i don't know if tcp ports are needed but I opened for testing) and allowed protocol ESP (comes with the rule to allow IPSEC-L2TP)
wether the Cisco RV180 router model can be configured with a public IP address on the LAN interface? I'm planning to use it in the following setup:
Internet ------------- WAN port (public IP) RV180 LAN port(public IP)-------------- WAN(public IP) RV016 LAN (private IP)
Disabling gateway operational mode and switching to router should disable NAT and allow this setup but need to confirm if it works? I'm concerned if the web management interface actually allows a public IP to be set on the LAN side.
