I have been trying to get port forwarding to work for a week now with no luck. I use Centurylink for Adsl, modem is a zyxel 660r, router wrt54g, running windows 7.I have made my modem a bridge only. I have set my computer to a static ip. I have followed all the instructions for port forwarding on linksys. Still my ports show blocked no matter what check I use on the Internet.
View 3 RepliesI need to open four ports and have no idea how. My web host thought that my ISP was blocking them; the ISP says they are not and that it is teh router. I don't have pjone support anymore (WRT54G is old) so could not be walked through it by a tech support person.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a old Router and a new one(the Lynksys). The old one had problems with the Wifi so we bought this one. So when we connect This Router to the Modem it doesn't show connection to the internet. (The Setup fails because of this). But with the old one it does connect to the internet. So either my modem doesn't detect the new router or vice versa. So I am not sure why its not working since on the old one it works fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLinksys WRT54G in reset mode, that is no security, SSID broadcast as linksys as it would be after pressing the reset button. When I go into the network and sharing center on my laptop running Vista and try to connect to the network it doesn't show up in the connect to a network dialog box. Rescanning doesn't work. My friends MAC locates the router with no problem. Disabling and enabling the wireless adapter and rebooting the laptop doesn't work. I'm working right next to the router. If I go to Manage Wireless Networks and add add a new network manually and input the network name (linksys) and Security Type disabled then I can connect to the router and all is well. I've set up a few routers and never seen this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using remote management to attempt to open port 8889 on my Linksys WRT54G router. I have successfully opened ports 22 and 80 with no problem. Additionally, I can close and reopen these ports without having to physically reset the router. However, if I try to open any other port (I have tried various ports: 23, 100, 8888, 8889, and several others) this port will not open. The ISP this router is connected to is Comcast and according to this site URL port 8889 isn't among the ports that Comcast blocks. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue (short of manually resetting the router or restoring the default settings).

When I am trying to connect to change the wireless settings, it always gives me the message that it cannot connect to the router no matter what password I enter! I even used really simple ones such as admin admin and It WONT connect. It gives me the message "Could Not Access Routers Settings". I have the ESET Smart Security AV & Firewall and I have properly configured them to allow communication of Network Magic. I should note that I CAN connect to the router through a browser.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs we are unable to control downloads and P2P use in our network, we are thinking to block all ports except 80 and 443 in our router so that they can only browse and use them only for office use. They should also be able to use messengers like skype, YM, MSN and also download any attachments in email.I wonder if we implement this, will it going to work or will there be any problem in accessing normal websites too? I know to control downloads there are many premium hardware and software firewalls out there but we don't want to invest any thing for now.I also know PTP clients can still use 80 and 443 ports to connect but it will need user to change manually port so it's fine with us.

PC is running Windows/XP sp3 with all updates installed. It has no wireless adapter.WRT54G model number sticker shows ver.2. I don't think the firmware has ever been upgraded.This used to work. What has changed? The laptop that used to connect wireless is dead. I now have a 2nd PC that sits on the same table as the old PC. It has no wireless adapter at this point, but eventually either it, or the old computer, will be getting its internet connection wireless-ly, as the computers will be physically in separate rooms. I can't see how these changes would affect the operation of the router.
I have a Linksys wrt54g wireless router.I have my modem connected to it through ethernet. All of the lights on my modem are on, except for the standby light which isn't supposed to be on. My router says it has internet and it says wlan is active. But still no internet. I get local only. I went on my setup page for my router. I went to status and its telling me that my ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway are all 0.0.0.0 All 3 dns spots are blank. I did a dhcp release and renew. Still all 0's. I did factory defaults. Still nothing. I did ipconfig /all on my desktop and its listing my dns, my default gateway, my dhcp server, my ipv4 address and my dns suffix.

My problem is that whenever 2 devices have joined the wireless network, I will not be able to do so despite placing the laptop or iPhone right next to the router, hence getting excellent signal strength. Or, if I am already connected to the network, I get knocked out repeatedly. I don't think it is a hardware or software issue because I'm still able to connect and get a very stable connection after someone leaves the wireless network.This is getting frustrating and I have tried all ways and means to resolve this but to no avail. Is this about some setting that I can tweak, e.g. to allow more users onto the network? But this has already been configured to '50'!
I am replacing a WRH54G with a WRT54G. Â First I unplugged everything and waited 5 minutes. Then I plugged my ethernet cord from the DSL modem into the WRT54G. Then I plugged in the DSL modem. I waited for the lights to stop blinking. Then I plugged in the WRT54G and waited for LEDs to show connection. Then I plugged the ethernet cord from the WRT54G to the computer. Then I turned on the computer. I was able to access the Interface for the WRT54G but I was not able to connect to the internet. I tried power cycling multiple times both the DSL modem and the WRT54G. I was unable to access the internet. Finally I plugged the WRH54G back in and everything worked fine. why the old WRH54G can connect to the internet and the WRT54G cannot?

I power recycled etc but when I connect to the router, it says limited connectivity. It shows autoconfigurtion ip:169.254.251.135. I don't know why this is so.I don't have the setup cd disk but I read the users' guide and it seems that I really don;t need the cd. But no matter what I do , I can't get to 192.168.1.1 .

I can connect to it from a wireless laptop but just not get on the internet I've read other posts about doing the "clone mac" address and doing the power cycle but still cannot get the Linksys to respond. I enabled the WRT54G to clone the mac address and have spent about 10 hours in two days trying to get this to work and looking online, etc....

I have a one year old Compaq and am running Windows 7 with a wireless Internet connection through my service provider. I installed the router with no problems and was able to get online with the Wii. However, I am no longer able to get Internet access on my desktop. It shows that my Internet is connected, but it shows "No Network Access". I had gotten on fine at first, then I went to the 192.168.1.1 site to configure my data. I changed my time zone and then went to secure my connection. I cannot remember the exact option I chose, but I think it was something like WAP2 Personal. As soon as I selected that the screen froze and I can no longer access that site or get online through the router.

Once you do a power cycle it starts working right again. "Step 1:Open a web browsersuch as Internet Explorer.
Step 2:Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys routers) then press [Enter].
Step 3:When the router's web-based setup page appears, click Applications& Gaming then click DMZ.
Step 4:Select Enable on DMZ and under DMZ Host IP Address enter the PlayStation®3's IP address.
- Try 192.168.1.10 or 192.168.1.20 Save Settings.
- This IP address will need to typed in manually during online setup on ps3. I think its the first address you enter (I think this is the game's IP address).
- Use 192.168.1.1 for the wireless router's IP address on your PS3.
Step 5:Now, click Administration and Disable UPnP. Make sure you also disable UPnP on your ps3 online setup. Save Settings.
Step 6:Click Status. Write down the DNS 1: dns number and DNS 2: dns number on a piece of paper. You will enter these for DNS 1 and DNS 2 numbers during online ps3 setup. NOTE: The IP address listed on the Status page for your wireless router is not used for any setup on your ps3. Remember, to get into ps3 online setup, you have to choose Manual during setup so you can enter these numbers.
Step 7:The WP key crap and whatever during online setup should be skipped unless you specifically setup some kind of password for your wireless router when you installed it. I didn't and just left that part blank and skipped over it.That should get your wireless router and game setup. I just left all of my game settings in place and did this: Logon on to your wireless router. To do this, you will probably go to url.. by typing this address into your address box on your internet explorer. Logon. If you don't know how to logon, go to and follow the instructions in technical support.

Â The factory resetted the device. Â I always get a signal, but it has that little error sign on it. Â It says my internet connection is broken. I can connect to the router and my S2 shows and says my WIFI-connection is OK. But still I can't get any Internet-traffic to my S2.The wireless router is working OK for my old IPhone and MacBook Pro, but not for my S2. Each of these has Windows 7, Avast! Anti-VirusToday I was working on a website on PC#1. When I attempted to upload the files via FTP, the connection failed repeatedly. When I went onto PC#2 it worked first time.I also tried to launch World of Warcraft on PC#1, this failed. It worked first time on PC#2.Websites work fine, so port 80 appears to be okay.I have reset my router to factory settings. ipconfig /release /renear /flushdns all made no difference.

I am able to access the administrative settings fine, and have got it to finally connect to the router, but there is no Internet connection, nless I am hardwired into my cable modem. I dont believe I have the software installed on this computer and I cant seem to find a place to download it even on the Linksys website, and the firmware is probably in bad need of updating.
