Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WUSB54GS Adapter Finds Just 1 Or 2 Networks
Oct 4, 2012
Yesterday, I changed over to my new ISP (Orange). I have installed their router but the Linksys Adapter can't find it?I have laptop which found the Orange router straight away so it is working correctly. Also, the laptop lists around 10 networks in the area.
The WUSB54GS adapter finds just 1 or 2 networks but never the new Orange network I have set-up.I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, downloading the version updates but nothing works.

I've just installed the software for this adapter on Windows XP and it does not see the network (on a Belkin G Plus MIMO router). It doesn't see any networks at all. I've tried the manual setup but it gives me a "Cannot associate with the Access Point" message.
The adapter is plugged in and the green power light is lit up.

Picked up a Dlink adapter dwa-131 usb wifi adapter but same issue, software conflict?Ive added several computers and laptops, different operating systems. Ipad, Ipod, blueRay, printer with no issues. But this USB wifi adapter has me completly stumped. This cant be this hard...dense I can be but... Is there a way simply that Im not seeing, adding a computer using a USB wifi adapter to my network thats compatible with NM?? Computer is an older Dell 8200 with XP sp3. I contacted support but maybe because my question was related to NM response was basically "your question was 'too technical call xxxxxxxx" -

I have had no problems with the WUSB54GS connecting to the WRT54GS up until last Friday...it can no longer connect to the router and reports that the network cannot be found. When i refresh the list of available networks i can "see" the router on the wireless PC but when an attempt to connect is made,it fails.OK,i rang up Linksys tech support today and we tried everything possible to work out what the problem was e:g uninstalling/reinstalling the software, updating the routers firmware, disabling security, trying all channels 1 thru 11,using WEP,using WPA,changing SSID name, using secure easy setup, using windows wireless configuration, changing USB leads nothing will make the device connect.

I have a WRT54GS v1 wireless router and use a WUSB54GS v1 wireless USB network adapter. I am upgrading to Windows 7 RC 64-bit, only to find that there is no support for what I have and that Linksys apparently doesn't even make Speedbooster products anymore. I can find some Speed booster stuff on Amazon but Linksys devices are very version dependent, so it's very much a lottery whether or not I get a version that I can get Vista drivers for and hope they work.
Any ideas for a replacement wireless adapter? Am I going to need a new router too? If so, how are other manufacturers (Belkin for example) doing insofar as Windows 7 or at least Vista 64-bit support of their products.

I've been having major issues with my wireless on this computer (randomly decides not to work while computers in the same room are fine) so I got a new wireless card to see what it could do. Installed it, everything says it's installed fine, but it will NOT detect any wireless networks. Not just mine, any of the 8+ networks I can usually detect from my room. I'm on Win7 Professional 64.
Things I've tried (and I'll be seriously annoyed if people reccomend doing them a 14th time, as I've already spent an hour on livechat with a support person telling me to do things I told her I'd already done):
Installed with 4 different drivers (the ones on the CD, the ones on the website, two versions directly from Ralink for the chipset) Tried both the manual and automatic "update driver" options in device manager. Uninstalled/reinstalled it like 4 times. Moved it to a new PCI slot.
Removed the old adapter before installing it. Removed the old adapter after installing it. Tried connecting to my network as a "hidden" network (which it's not). Installed only the driver and not the adapter utility, and used the utility. Installed the software before physically installing the adapter. Installed it after physically installing the adapter.
I'm at a loss. It doesn't detect ANY networks. No, it's not a problem with my network, there's more than a half dozen that my other adapter, in the same computer, can detect. And I don't know why. It has not ever worked properly. The antennae are on properly, nothing is interfering with it (though that would be odd since it's 3 inches from an adapter that can detect other networks). I might be willing to accept that it's just DoA, but that would be odd considering it installs just fine and reports that it's working just fine.

So I recently took the WMP54GS ver 1.1 wireless adapter out of my old XP computer and put it in my new Vista 64bit computer. I successfully installed the adapter, downloaded the drivers (WMP54GS-v1.1_v4.102.15.53_Vista_dr), and unzipped them on my C drive to their Linksys Driver folder. When I go to find available networks it says "Windows cannot find any additional networks," and when I try to set up a wireless network it shows a blank window and says "an unexpected error has occurred." I can see the adapter in the device manager, so it obviously installed correctly.

I have a Linksys wireless WMP600n PCi adapter installed in my desktop PC and after recovering from standby, it does not automatically reconnect. I have to right-click on the Wireless Networks icon in the system tray then select "Repair". I would say it does this 9 times out of 10 (1 time in 10 I seem to luck out and it restores the connection automatically).
I have an Asus M4A88TD-M motherboard with 1 Gb of DDR3 RAM and I am running Windows XP Home Edition (SP3). There is only one PCi slot on this motherboard. Also, I am not using the wireless network software that shipped with the product but rather the native wireless networks application software that shipped with Windows XP. I have had this problem with the original driver that shipped with the product CD and the problem persists with the latest driver. I have not enabled Hibernation and there are no active power saving modes on the PC.I have reviewed all of the options in the Wireless 600n Properties/Advanced tab and have enabled the Continuously Awake Mode and disabled the Power Saving Mode but the problem persists.
I have two other PCs with the older Linksys wireless WMP300n PCi adapters and they do not exhibit this behaviour after recovering from standby - they reliably reconnect.

I am running Windows 7 with the WUSB600N (v.2). Here is how I got it to work. The driver support is not a .exe. You will have to install it yourself...but it's not a big deal.Download the Windows 7 driver for your OS version from the Linksys Support page.Save it to the desktop and then unzip it to the desktop so you can find it easier.Once unzipped you will see 3 folders: Mac, Win7 32 and Win7 64. Choose accordingly. What I did was install it through the "Device Manager". (Right click "My Computer", choose "Manage", then Device Manager",or use the "Search Bar under the Start Menu...whatever. Once you are in the Device Manager...
1. Make sure your WUSB600N is inserted in your computer.
2. Navigate down to "Network Adapters" If you see your WUSB600N adapter...great! Your halfway home!
3. Right click on the "Linksys WUSB600N Adapter.
4. Choose the option to " Update Driver Software"
5. Choose "Browse My Computer for Software"
6. Navigate to the desktop and choose the folder that contains the name of your Windows 7 platform.
7. It should update but, HOLD ON! We are not done yet!!!
In order for it to start transmitting in that shiny new 5GHZ band, you must go into "Network and Sharing Center". Once there, look on the left hand side of the main window and you will see "Change adapter settings"Go there. You should see here that your existing adapter is still working (enabled) and your new Linksys WUSB600N has a big fat red "X" under it (disabled).Right click on your existing adapter and choose, "DISABLE".Then, right click on the WUSB600N adapter and choose "ENABLE".The last thing you should have to do is choose the network you want to connect to (for me it was the 5GHZ one) ..and Viola!!

I'm using the WUSB54GSC on a IBM Desktop computer, not old, but not new by any means. We have wireless internet through Comcast, and my room is on the second floor. The router is on the first floor, but it's almost just underneath my room. The internet seems to connect completely fine, but it will disconnect at some things. For example, when I tried to go to mapquest, it was like it was flooding, and it dropped the internet connection. I also play games online, and when I play the actual game itself (GTAA/Online) it plays just fine, no lag, nothing like that, but when I try to connect to Teamspeak, when it's loading the channels after it connects, it just drops the connection..

It has stopped working then i have to reset the adapter and then it will work for a little bit and then it will do it again. is this a common problem or is it likely my adapter is failing? Is there an update that i am missing?

I've got a bit of an issue. A friend of mine has recently gotten windows 7 installed into his desktop. When he tried to install the network adapter (wusb11 version 2.8), it installed. However, when we searched for it in the device manager, it did not appear. does Version 2.8 only cover up to Windows XP or is there software to make it work for Windows 7?

I am trying to connect to the internet a second, older tower using the WUSB600N ver 2 adapter, the unfortunate part is that I have lost my CD's that originally came with the adapter. I am on my primary machine right now so I am able to get online. I am wondering if there is a way that I can get the proper drivers or software, put them on a USB drive and then put them on the computer that I am trying to connect?I have already tried this, but I cannot seem to get the steps right or I don't necessarily know what I am doing. I am at the Linksys support Page [URL] and I have tried to do as I mentioned before, but I am sort of just expecting it to GO and its not working. The computer i would like to make the WUSB600N adapter for is running windows XP pro Service Pack 3?

I've spent several hours of my life trying to rectify this silly problem without peace. Maybe one of you can enlighten me. I've got a Win98 laptop and have loaded the driver specified from the Linksys website. The software from the website under "Version 1" downloads a file entitled "...driver utility v3.1." I've installed and uninstalled it 3 times with restarts inbetween. Each time Device Mngr shows it is installed correctly but the "inactive" status persists. I get a "Power" light indicator but never the "Link" indicator on the adapter. I do not have a firewall or any other software that would interfere with the access point I have at my home (which works just fine with my Vista laptop). Furthermore, the wireless router is not secured either, so it is wide open and broadcasting. But as I said, the adaptor isn't even showing as "active" so all that stuff is moot I guess. I can not upgrade the laptop to another OS, it is an antique from 1999 and can't cut the mustard with the RAM and processor speed it has. Besides, it should work just fine with Win98 anyway.

I just purchased 2 AE3000 adapters to update my wireless network and cannot get either of them to connect to my wireless network through either of two computers I tried. It hangs for a while looking for address and then I get the 'limited or no connection' note. But yet when I plug in my old AE1000 adapter into either computer I get connected right away. I've looked under the device manager and it shows up there, the LED lights come on and I see my wireless network show up on available networks. I am using the windows wireless manager in lieu of the Linksys one and as such I don't think any specific drivers are being used. I bought two updated adapters to start with is to keep current and NOT have problems.

I recently upgraded my computer (not laptop) from Windows XP to Windows 7-32 bit. I redownloaded and installed Network Magic, Linksys Wireless Manager and my WUSB600N adapter properly (I hope). Now everything was working fine, I was able to get onto my network through the adapter but today I noticed that the Linksys Wireless Manager seemed to not connect to my network, instead my computer some how did it without the wireless manager. Now when I tried to connect to a network through the Wireless Manager it said Error: 211 and said My Adapter may not be installed properly and told me to remove the adapter and attach it back after 20 seconds. I tried that but again my computer connected to the network STILL through the computers own manager not through the Linksys Wireless Manager. That was still saying Error 211. So the problem really is that the Linksys Wireless Manager wont detect my adapter but my computer is still able to detect it and connect to my network.

I recently purchased a Linksys AE3000 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter as an upgrade to my Dell Desktop Computer and to compliment the Linksys EA4500 Router that I recently installed. Generally it seems to work well and the 2.4 GHz network status typically shows speed to be 450 Mbps. However, I’ve discovered if the computer goes to sleep based on my power plan, when it comes out of sleep the “Available Networks” will show the network I’m connected to (2.4 GHz network) and a false network identified as “Other Network” with a Red “X” where signal strength would normally be. When I mouse over it; it shows Network Name: Other Network; Signal Strength: Excellent; Security Type: Unsecured; Radio Type: Unknown; and SSID: Other Network.
Initially I thought this was an anomaly caused by having both bands of the Router (2.4 and 5.0 GHz) set to the same SSID, so I changed the 5.0 GHz band to a different SSID and set my Media Players to access the new SSID. However, now when the computer comes out of sleep mode, Available Networks will initially only show the Router’s 2.4 GHz SSID and the phantom “Other Network”. It takes a while before the Router’s 5.0 GHz SSID shows up. We live in the country, so there are no other networks close to us, just my home network. It never shows the “Other Network” when I start or restart the computer and if I disable the adapter and then enable it, the phantom network goes away until the computer goes into and out of sleep mode again. Also, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Driver and then reinstalled the Adapter using the Cisco Connect Software and the problem still exists. Finally, I disabled the Router’s 5.0 GHz network and the phantom network no longer appears under any conditions. The Dell (Atheros Communications) Wireless Card in the computer doesn’t have this issue under any scenario. On both the AE3000 and Atheros Adapters the 2.4 GHz network shows a signal strength of Excellent (5 out of 5 bars) and the 5 GHz network shows Good (3 out of 5 bars).
How to correct this issue? With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.

I downloaded more recent version of Cisco Connect v 1.0.03, still no luck on T61.I also disabled firewall and virus protection, that did not work. Other possibilities I can try? I got the AE2500 for the T61, would like to get there.

have received an Cisco Model DPC3925 modem/router from UPC (provider in the Netherlands) and they allow me to have 120Mbit connection, but with my own WIFI Adapter I only received between the 40Mbit/60Mbit speed. My question is the following; Wich WIFI adapter is the best adapter for my Cisco Model DPC3925 modem/router?The distance between the modem/router and my pc is not that much. And when I use an cable the connection is between the 90Mbit/110Mbit. The WIFI adapter that I now use is the: TP-Link TL-WN881ND. I was thinking to buy a Linksys AE1200, but I dont know if that adapter is much better then I already have.

I have a Linksys WUSB54G version 4 adapter. My computer is running Windows XP, Service Pack 3, which is automatically updated at all times. I've been using the adapter for a year with no problems.
Suddenly, it's started loosing the connection to the Linksys router and locking up my computer so only a hard re-boot power-down will work. When it comes back up, some or all of my cookies are lost.
I've run several different security packages but no virus or other issues have been found.I've uninstalled the adapter and reinstalled it.Last time, following something I read on this site, I installed it without the Linksys software, just the drivers.

Our Comcast broadband goes to our modem then our router (Linksys) before splitting off to our desktop & our Ooma unit. I run our netbook off of the wireless but the desktop & Ooma are physically connected to two of the router's ports. This afternoon I lost the ability to connect to the internet with the desktop. Ooma works and so does my netbook. The computer finds the connection and says it's working fine when I try to diagnose the problem, but none of my browsers (Chrome, Firefox or IE) are able to connect to the network. Thunderbird and gmail notifier also can not connect.Using command prompt I can successfully ping any website I try.I have tried everything I could think of:
Powered down and restarted PCU
New network card
Disabled Norton
New cord from router to network card
Switched connection so it was directly from modem to PCU
Reinstalled browsers
I don't know what else I can try. The computer is not allowing me to run a system restore. It says that the disk is damaged and must be repaired. But it will not allow me to repair it because the disk is running? It seems to me that there is a setting or security issue that is blocking my access to the network?

Yesterday I booted up my new custom desktop and today I installed my wireless PCI card. The drivers are installed and it recognizes one or two networks in my vicinity, but my home network and probably about 10 more are not showing up. I tried re installing the drivers but no luck. I was able to get my network to appear about 50% of the time I searched. I also was able to rarely establish a connection, but the speed was extremely slow and was lost in less than a minute.

A couple of weeks ago, my laptop (vista) suddenly started not detecting any wireless networks anymore. Wired internet still works. Wireless suddenly went 'poof'.Since then, I tried basically everything. I rebooted the wireless adapter, rebooted laptop, the network is most definately in range of the laptop, updated the driver and all didn't work. Yes, the adapter is turned on, obviously. When I look into device manager, there are yellow exclamation marks next to the microsoft 6to4 adapter and the ISATAP adapter, so I also tried updating those. Didn't do anything. They still show a code 10. So i disabled both of them, also didn't work. I deleted and reinstalled both too. I even tried disabling 6to4 in the bios but didn't work.Device manager says my Intel (R) wifi Link 5100 AGN adapter works perfectly. Also updated it, un- and reinstalled it => no effect.
Though, even without those exclamation marks, i'm pretty sure my network doesn't send out much ip6 stuff, so it should still work... But it's not just my network at home, it simply won't detect any wireless networks anymore. Also tried windows recovery to put it back in the state before it wouldn't work anymore, but no effect.

I took this wifi adapter from a pc that isn't being used, and decided to plug it into one that is. While it was in the other pc, it worked, now that it's in this pc it doesn't detect ANY wifi networks. I decided to plug it into a laptop and it worked the minute the drivers were installed. The problems are as follows:
* When plugged into the pc, the adapter's utility app just says "Checking status" and no info being displayed thereafter.
* Windows says the device is working, but it does not come up in the Internet Access popup window in the task bar.
* No info comes up in Xirrus except for the name of the adapter.
I installed both the drivers that came with the adapter, and the latest drivers from windows update. Neither worked. It is a Billion BiPAC 3011N adapter.
