Linksys Wireless Router :: Allowing PPTP Traffic To Server Behind WRT320n?

Mar 7, 2012

I am trying to allow PPTP traffic through my Linksys WRT320n to a PPTP VPN server on my home network.The Linksys WRT320n is running firmware 1.0.05 build 002Mar 31, 2011.I have created a Port Forwarding rule on the Linksys to allow TCP & UDP port 1723 through to my internal IP of the PPTP VPN server,but everytime I try to connect with a PPTP client from outside of my network I get a connection error on the client.Checking the PPTP VPN servers logs I see the following errors (Please note all IP's have been masked) Mar 2 11:15:07 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: Client x.x.x.x control connection startedMar 2 11:15:07 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: Starting call (launching pppd, opening GRE)Mar 2 11:15:07 ap-01 pppd[5301]: pppd 2.4.4 started by root, uid 0Mar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pppd[5301]: Exit.Mar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: GRE: read(fd=8,buffer=41fe30,len=8196) from PTY failed: status = -1 error = Input/output error, usually caused by unexpected termination of pppd, check option syntax and pppd logsMar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: PTY read or GRE write failed (pty,gre)=(8,9)Mar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: Reaping child PPP[5301]Mar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: Client x.x.x.x control connection finished

From looking at the above errors, it seems as if the Linksys isn't forwarding GRE through to my PPTP server.I have tried various settings, including enabling and disabling the PPTP Passthrough option on the Linksysbut still can't get PPTP to work.What is the correct way to get GRE traffic forwarded through the Linksys?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT320N And Internal VPN Server

Dec 14, 2009

I just bought a Linksys 320N router to replace another competitors router. I am trying to connect to my VPN server from outside my network. I have the external ip to my network. I setup the new 320N router just like the old router. set dmz ip to internal ip of vpn server, set port forwarding to 1723, both, internal ip of vpn server, I have a way to test the vpn while i am inside my network. So, I can watch the VPN server log and see the request come into the server and it times out with the Linksys 320 N hooked up. If I have the old router hooked up, the vpn establishes a connection.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Stopped Allowing Traffic Through Ports Completely

Apr 24, 2013

I posted my complaint on Amazon.com recently.  My E4200 router stopped allowing traffic through ports completely.  I was able to unplug the power and allow the router to cool, and the router would work for a while then stop after about 10 minutes.  I assume that the unit was overheating, but I do not have the equipment of a test facility.I bought a Belkin AC 1200 router which is a bit of an upgrade from Amazon.com.  I do not think that there is anything that Linksys can do for me as my warranty expired.  I just thought that when I spent what was to me a lot of money the router should have lasted longer.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200v2 PPTP Server Not Responding

Jan 17, 2013

I setup my Windows 8 desktop for a PPTP VPN server so I can connect my iPhone 5 to it.Using the Cisco Connect Firmware, as I was having internet speed issues with the Smart Wi-Fi Firmware and I wasn't loving the interface of the Smart Wifi Firmware anyway.According to the router the firmware is up to date. All three VPN settings are enabled.PC is set to a static IP internally.  192.168.1.116 to be precise.PPTP port forwarding (1723) is set to the PC's static IP, though I have tried without port forwarding and it didn't work either.If I have my iPhone connected to the wireless network and point it to the internal IP address of the PC, I can connect to the VPN.If I bypass my router and hook my desktop directly to the modem (and point my iPhone to the IP that gets assigned to my desktop from my ISP) I can connect to the VPN.But if I have everything hooked up normally and try to connect to the VPN from my iPhone (using the IP address my ISP assigned to the router), I get a PPTP server not responding error.

Do I have to manually turn their band off when I want it off? And can I even have both bands in use at the same time?

I looked at my Cisco online info by access the IP address. I see the Access Restrictions tab. Can I even set usage by specific computer? If so how do I do that?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Laptop Cannot Connect To Wrt320n

Just installed linksys wrt320n.  Desktop and one laptop (wireless) connect.  Both windows 7.  A second laptop (Vista) errors out with message "the selected data rate is not correct".  This laptop sees the router (since I see the router name and it validates the passphrase) but I cannot ping the router.  I saw two messages on this site suggesting to enable WMM and use security WPA2.  I have verified that both of these are so set.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using WRT320N As Access Point?

I'm currently using my WRT320N router as an access point (connected to another linksys router), but I've lost my username and password to access the web-based utility.  So I need to press the reset button and set it up again. Currently everything is working fine, but I've forgotten how to configure the router for this purpose, and I can't  find instructions in the user's guide online.  I seem to remember it being troublesome.  I know I have to assign a different IP address (currently I'm using 192.168.1.113.)  What other settings (if any) need to be changed?

Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Setup WRT320N As Bridge

Aug 16, 2011

I want to setup the following:

Internet through DSL-Thompson TG 789 VN router ---> several yards --> Linksys WRT320N --> wired computer netwerk                                           |             |with   printer
|                                                                                             |
---> Wireless Netwerk -->   laptops / phones       <---     (WAN depending on strongest signal)
|
---> several servers

The Thompson does the DHCP and routing. It is the gateway through the internet, IP 192.168.2.254 (mask 255.255.255.0).I can't replace the thompson since it is delivered by my provider. SSID = BertB I want to achieve that all the compuers / laptops / phone and printer are in one network and can communicate with each other So the only possibility, as far as I can see, is to set up the Linksys as a bridge.

I have to do the following at the Linksys but have some questions as mentioned below:

SSID = BertB (the same)
channel = different from the channel used by Thompson
DHCP = off
IP = fixed (192.168.2.253)
gateway = 192.168.2.254

[code]....

how the thompson and the Linksys will build a connection with each other, or will this happen automatically through the above setup?Do I have to put the mac address of the thompson in the Linksys and/or vice versa?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT320N - IPad Can't Connect To It

Jul 24, 2011

I have a WRT320N router with firmware version 1.0.01 build 008.  I just got an iPad and while it can find my router, I can't access the WiFi when I enter my password.  I can use the router with my laptop so I know the connection and password are ok.I've seen two administrators on here suggest the same thing.  And one person responded that it worked.  The identical directions were:

Try changing some advanced wireless settings on the router.Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Open the setup page of the router.Click on wireless tab and set the configuration view to manual. Change the wireless channel to 11. Save the settings.Go to wireless tab and click on Advanced wireless settings.Change Beacon interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307 and fragmentation threshold to 2306. Save the settings.Try to connect to the wireless network again and see if that works.

1 - I think my computer already is connected to the router with the Ethernet cable - I mean there is an Ethernet cable attached to both my computer and my router - in slot 1 on the router

2 - the only thing I know how to access is the Linksys EasyLink Advisor.  What and where is the setup page of the router?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT320N WAN Connection Becomes Slow?

May 20, 2009

I have a WRT320N router. It is hooked to a Comcast cable modem (Motorola SB5101). After using it for a few days, my Internet connection becomes very slow and I have to reset the router. Generally I get download speeds of 10+ Mbps, but then it slows to about 1 Mbps or less. One time I was only getting 300 Kbps.I'm using a wired connection when this happens, so wireless is not the issue. Also, there is no firmware update available for my router; 1.0.01 was already on it. The only settings that I've changed besides the password are related to the wireless.As soon as I unplug the router and plug it back in, it's fine again for a few days. At first I thought it might be my cable Internet connection, but because I'm not having to reset the cable modem?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT320N - Devices Only Connect At 54mbps?

Feb 24, 2012

I just installed a WRT320N for someone's home network, with the intent of providing better speed for network printing.

Unfortunately, all four of his n-capable Windows computers will only connect at 54mbps. Four different computers (Win7, Vista, XP), each with a different brand/model of n-capable network adapter.

I suppose I could try setting the wireless to n-only instead of "mixed". However, he's got a couple g-only devices as well, so that wouldn't work.

I tried updating the firmware to latest/greatest - no effect.

I have a Linksys WRT320N Wireless Router and I am having an issue where it seems like gigabit (10/100/1000) ready computers are getting fast ethernet (10/100) speeds and fast ethernet computers/devices are receiving gigabit speeds. What I mean is the computers that are gigabit ready and are using cat6 cables are showing green icons on the Linksys WRT320N router and my network switch, which is only 10/100 ready and uses a cat5e cable to connect to the router, shows a blue icon indicating it is connected at gigabit speeds. Is the manual incorrect and green icons really mean gigabit speeds?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT320N Connecting Two Gigabit Routers?

May 4, 2012

I have what should be simple.  Home network on cable.  WRT320N is main router cabled to desktop with GB card.  It is hard-wired to a Netgear WNR3500L (also gigabit).  That router is hard-wired to a desktop with GB card.  For testing I connected a second machine hard-wired to the WRT320N with a 10/100 card.  All machines recognized cards properly at correct speed.  I ran LAN Speed Test between machines.  Speeds were comparable between machines regardless of cards.  GB -> GB was mid-30's write, mid-80's read with GB -> 10/100 a couple of ticks slower but not significantly.  The LED's on both routers will show different color if GB connection and both showed GB for the desktop connection but not the interconnect between the routers.  The routers are connected at about 100' with CAT5E and straight-through.
