Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Reset - Unable To Connect?
Sep 10, 2011So, I've been having problems with connecting my HTPC to the E2000. I had an old D-link router + USB Wireless N adapter, but after the Dlink died, I bought the E2000, and upgraded to a faster N Adapter. Anyway, connection had been sketchy using the WPA/WPA2 encryption. I turned it off completely, and did get some better wireless speeds. I couldn't leave it open, though, as there are tons of laptops around my apartment that end up connecting to my network. Connecting wirelessly using that particular adapter continued to give problems. Two blackberries plus a Nookcolor connect with no issues (maybe because they're wireless G, who knows).
I then decided to reset the router by simply pressing and holding the reset button as I've done on all my other routers. It did reset, and reboot, but when it came back on, it would no longer connect to the internet. I've connected directly to my modem, and that works fine, but once I connect to the router...nothing. I did a hard reset (30/30/30), and that cleared everything, it seemed. The HTPC now connects easily, but there is still no internet connection. This is proving to be very frustrating.
Is there something I could have done wrong by doing that very first reset? Is there anyway to configure to get back my internet connection?

I have the latest software version for the Cisco software.I have noticed that Cisco sets up the same password to access the router setup page as the wireless password..Anyone that connects to the main SSID will be able to connect to the setup page at 192.168.1.1...I know that I can change the password in the linksys setup page to whatever I want, but then when I open the Cisco software, it wants me to change the password to match what the administrator password is.Don't they realize that a wireless password is different than the Administrator password to access the router settings?

Jul 4, 2007I have changed the router username/password in the past and either I can't remember it or its not accepting what I am entering, because the router logon will not go through. I have unplugged the router for 5 mins and then let it come back on and still cant get in, pressed the reset button down and let it come back up still nothing, and I have unplugged the cable modem and router for five mins and then plugged them both back up and I still can't get the router to reset to the default admin password. In the past it has worked before but now nothing I try will let me into the router interface to set up anything.

May 13, 2013I was given this router (it's my 3rd one) and cannot get the reset button to reset the password. I have run throught a 30/30/30 reset as well as just holding the button in for the standard 30 seconds.
I know the router works, as in i can ping it. It asks for a password when i go to 192.168.1.1, but *blank* and "admin" do not work. When i click the cancel button it displays a pink(salmon) screen that says "401 Unauthorized Authrization required". (all of this is when i am connected to it with an ethernet cable to #1)
When it's sitting there it has an led lit over power and one ove wlan which flickers from time to time.

The former service (modem) was a cisco (1 port) that I connected my EA 2700 Cisco router to and it worked like a charm. My IP phones came right up as well. Now I have an modem/router combo (provided by my ISP) and when ever I attempt to connect to my VPN it will give me an error and not connect. Oct 10, 2011I changed my E1000 router name successfully, and then went into the Administration section to change my password. After changing the password and clicking on Save a small screen pops up asking me to verify my router's username and password. When I enter the exact same user name and password it does not accept them. When I try to enter the old user name and password it does not accept them either. I then try combinations of the two and it still will not accept the input. I have reset my router 4 times now and this keeps occurring. I am completely baffled.
