Mar 10, 2013I have an E2500 router, running the latest firmware 1.0.7.
Where or how can i see which is the machine (mac or ip) that is doing more traffic, in fact i would like to see what computers are doing how much traffic.
This is a default on most routers, its so weird to not been able to find this on a Cisco product.

The incoming and outgoing logs show up blank, even when there are 10-20 computers using the Internet and I know there is traffic being generated. DHCP and security logging still works fine. I also have a few E1200s on the latest firmware that are logging just fine... I'm just having issues with the E2500s.

Jan 4, 2012I currently have my E2500 connected via wired LAN (not WAN) port on another router. The E2500 has an LAN IP of 10.0.0.2 and the router has 10.0.0.1 and a dhcp range outside of these. DHCP is disabled on the E2500. I can use my E2500 as a wired access point with no difficulty I plug something in and it calls the router and gets an address, but I can not get DHCP through the wireless of the E2500.

Nov 1, 2011I did not use the CD to set up, and instead set this router up manually. We are using this router right now as a hotspot only.. and all is good. I can see both new networks and the WIFI laptops are talking no problem. Only issue I have is that guest access is not working - by that I mean it can't get out on the internet. I can see it as available and connect to it. Guest access and SSID broadcast are both enabled obviously.

I have tried both the single port forwarding and the multi port range forwarding, and neither works. I've tried an older WRT54G router and port forwarding works fine on it, so I know it's not my ISP.

Jan 5, 2012I have been having trouble with my router with wireless network intermittently cutting out every couple minutes (on all devices, like laptop, phone, and tablet.) So, in my wisdom, I went online and downloaded version 2 firmware and after power cycling the wireless doesn't work anymore. Questions:
I have my old Dell Desktop connected (hardwired) into the router, and it works when I take the wireless router out of the loop. How do I update the firmware on the router if I can't connect wirelessly or hardwire anymore? I want to go to version 1 to see if that will solve the original issue.
For the original issue of cutting out and reconnecting constantly, would version 1 work or something else? It isn't my cable modem, as internet has always worked fine connecting desktop or laptop directly.

Dec 26, 2011I have a WRT610N (v2) router and I recently updated the firmware to the most current version 2.00.01 build 15. I can no longer set WPA2 security for both bands (used to work just fine). Every time I try to save settings for WPA2 for the 5 GHz band, it tells me it was successful but then displays that the security mode is disabled (and it shows up on my computers list as not having any security enabled. If not, where can I get a copy of the old firmware that worked?

Jul 4, 2012We use our internet to watch Netflix. We have had no problems until recently, I called the satellite Internet company(which is a local co.) they told me my router was going out. I bought a new one, problem solved! Right?!? WRONG my husband told me my neighbor just got Internet and has been playing Xbox everyday which coincidently is between the 5:30pm to 10ish pm we have been having issues with our router. What can we do to fix this? Do I have to buy a bigger router? He is not stealing off mine because it is password protected that was changed when new router was setup and programmed. I have been running of a Cisco Linksys E2500 advanced dual band n router. The router is in the same room as the TV accessing it, which we previously had no issue connecting anywhere in the house or garage.

Jul 7, 2011I bought I router today, Linksys E2500 and set it up, for some reason its connected with full strength but the internet does not work on my computer, or any other device connected to the network I established on the router. I've looked through so many articles and posts on here, I've fixed the winsock, I tried the netsh winsock and the netsh int ip reset reset.log, but when I put in netsh int ip reset reset.log in the command prompt, nothing happens after I press enter. I've updated through microsoft updates, and updated some drivers from the hp website. Ive repaired, and tried restarting the router, and even the modem and nothing changed. It's still connected, but the interenet still is not working. The modem is fine, as when I disable the wireless connection, the internet works. Yes, I have Sp3 installed. I am using windows xp and the computer is called HP Pavilion a1013w Desktop PC.

I have about 20 devices which i'm allowing to access my router, so i keyed in the MAC addresses into the config page and save setting. But only 16 addresses are registered, the rest refused to register no matter how many times i key in, it just reset back to 00:00:00:00:00:00 after i click on save setting.

Oct 4, 2012I previously entered in settings for the "Static DNS" 1 through 3 (using ip addresses from OpenDNS and one from Google DNS).
I want to remove these so the router reverts to using the DNS allocated to it by the ADSL modem (which will likely be the IP of the modem, which then forwards the requests to the DNS from the ISP).But I can't clear the Static DNS settings. I have to put in 0.0.0.0 but the last zero is not accessed. I get the error: The value is out of range [1 - 254].So I end up with 0.0.0.1 and then all Internet access is lost on the computers because they are being given a bad DNS IP.
How can I reset the static DNS ip address back to 0.0.0.0 ?

Dec 18, 2012I want to add my E2500 as a second wireless router to cover my entire house.I have a Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 cable modem (Time-Warner) at one end of the house.I added via powerline Ethernet connection a new E2500 wireless router at the other end of the house.The E2500 set-up with all defaults and has the same SSID and Password as the Surfboard cable modem.It seems to work OK, but I wonder about network confusion/interference.Do I have to configure the E2500 in some manner to allow seamless roaming of my wireless devices (iPad, Cell Phones, Netbook)?I had an RE1000 with just the Surfboard, but it did not quite do the trick, and does not like both routers connected at either end.

Jun 26, 2012I am working with vpn setups for the first time. I would like to be able to connect to a computer on a home network through a linksys E2500 router. I have found alot of documentation on connecting to an external vpn from a computer on the lan side of the router, but nothing on connecting from the outside in. The router does have a static ip address with my internet provider, so I can contact the router from the outside. But makeing the connection to the computer on the other side of the router is where I am missing something or I dont realize that it is not possible. On the LAN side I am using DHCP to assign the address to the computer I want to connect to. Perhaps I need to make it have a static address also? I realize that when I configure the connection from the outside that I need to direct the connection to the remote computer in some way, unless vpn connections are fully passed through the router and the connection issue I am having is with the "inside" computer.

It is configured to give wireless PCs (This subnet is connected to a Lan port with 10.30.0.0 address) another subnet than wired PCs (this subnet is connected to Wan port 192.168.0.0). Since i configured i can access from wireless PCs to servers and PCs in the wired subnet but cannot access from wired computers from to wireless PCs. I suppouse it is because traffic is restricted from Wan to Lan.

Feb 1, 2012I have a E2500 connected via LAN to my network via a switch or hub through a sonic wall and into the modem out to the internet. The problem is that I am only getting +/- 5Mpbs Down and +/-7 Mbps up through the router.
If I connect my computer to the network with out going through the router my speeds are more in the range of +/-28 Mbps down and 16Mbps up. I have been working with Linksys support but they have not been able to assist me with this yet! Is there any configuring I should be doing at the firewall or to the router to tell it to open up the port for faster speeds?

Here's the thing: we have a laptop that has been humming perfectly along for more that 12 years because we have never let it be touched by the internet. It has built in wi-fi, but we've never connected it. It has no viruses, no Microsoft creep, we've never had to purchase a virus software update and it has outlasted every piece of computer equipment we've ever owned. We'd like to keep it that way!
But now that the wireless printer is working beautifully, we want to know if there's a way to send the laptop through the router to the wireless printer, but not expose it to the internet. Is that possible?

The router is in the basement near a bunch of metal ducting and I live near a radio station, both of which I believe is killing my signal. Anyways, I was able to pick up a WAP54G wireless access point. I would like to use it as a wired repeater (hopefully to get the signal up into the upper levels of my house). Can I use the WAP54G with the E2500? I looked in the setup page when I was trying to set it up as a repeater, and it says it will only connect with another WAP54G or a WRT54G (linksys wireless g router).
