Work connection will load database about a third of the way then crash laptop. I can change out the router from the new Cisco e3000 to an old wireless router and it works fine.
View 9 RepliesJust bought a Seagate GoFlex 3TB external USB drive to connect to the E3000 router I recently purchased and it is dead. The LED light on the front of the drive doesn't come on when plugged into the router. It does when going direct to the PC and I can access the drive but when I go to the router,and try to explore the drive-nothing. Now if I go to the settings on the router it sees the GoFlex but there are no folders showing even after I entered a 'media sharing' one via PC. I've rebooted the router,the PC,the drive,nada. I reformatted to NTFS and nothing. Why the heck does this router refuse to see this drive? I even when connected to the PC made sure the sleep timer was set to 'never' so it wouldn't sleep on me.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI needed the Guest access of wi-fi setup that LinkSysys routers provided. I don't need the router/modem i just want to have wi-fi access point. I'm an advanced user and i can work with manual setup etc.I tried to do a manual setup of the router, i changed the IP address to mask my network and enable wi-fi and worked BUT the guest access option is NOT available unless you use the stupid CISCO connect software.
Now the cisco connect software IS NOT working or complete the setup if you don't connect it through the router and gain Internet access which is IMPOSSIBLE for me to accomplish as my modem is connected to a firewall device and we are using static DSL options with PPPoE and usernameme/password. There is no way i can get cisco connect to load properly as it always "fixes my connection trying to gain Internet access".Is there any solution on manually properly setup this router and take full advantages of it capabilities or should i return it ?
My E3000 looses connection whenever any other computer connects whether it is a wired or wireless computer, IPAD, Mac, or anything else we have. It goes on and off any time two have connected and when it works it is very slow once another machine connects. Eventually it makes my network completely shut down.

My bad for not taking the time to think I would have to search this website to find the short list of external USB drives that will work with the E3000.All I wanted to do was store my media files on a shared network drive. I am cheating the system now and using a shared drive on the main PC. View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen connecting wirelessly (5GHz) to the E3000 after a day or so the wireless connection starts loosing speed. I have Comcast and usually get 20-30 MB download connections. After a day or so I start to lose speed (down to 5MB) until I reboot the E3000. Then I resume 20-30MB download connections. My wired connections appear fine and don’t experience the slow down. I'm doing my speed test with [URL]
The wireless slow down seems similar to the old memory leak condition of old Windows OS’s. Called Cisco and they don’t have an idea. They had me change a few settings (channel info) but I’m pretty technical and don’t feel that will fix it.
I just bought a new E3000 router less than 2 weeks ago. I spent hours with my tech guy setting up the router so that I was getting excellent internet speed and the connection between my computer and my nas was maximized. In the process of setting up the router my laptop (Windows 7) and the basement laptop (Vista) were set up to access the router. Both work perfectly.These are now the only two devices in the house that can get internet access.The other devices that should connect are:

I set up a unique SSID and passphrase (WPA2) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. My XBOX could connect to the 2.4GHz band network and could connect to XBOX Live. I can successfully print from both Mac's, however I have to manually disconnect and connect the printer in the vusb client. But this last week, when ever I wake my monitor up after it's power saving mode kicks in, I lose my internet connection for about 15 seconds. If you look at the router before the monitor is on, I am connected. The light is on for port 1. But as soon as my monitor gets turned back on, it light just turns off and will reconnect after about 15 seconds. I've looked it up online and can only find things about when the entire system wakes up, and usually those people have to reboot their entire system to get a connection again, or turn the router off then back on. My desktop is connected to my router via ethernet and my various other devices including my laptop are wifi connected. It seems almost at random that my desktop will lose its connection.Windows will show me as still being connected and my network connection will show a normal status until I atttempt to repair it then it will change to limited or no connectivity. Through all of this, my other devices all still have a wifi signal (I don't use more than 1 or 2 at the same time). I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. I've also had several blue screens, and when I checked the dmp files it revealed my network card driver as the culprit, yet I have reinstalled and even clean installed the microsoft signed driver. I have also attempted to reboot both my modem and router to no avail.

I can access the internet most of the time on the laptop with a caveat:
There is always an ~10 minute delay before internet access is granted in addition to local access, before which time I cannot surf.In every case, when internet access is being granted, a Windows window comes up that wants to install a driver for a device.If I close the window using the x box, I can then surf to my heart's content.
If, however, I try to let Windows install the driver, I run into a loop where Internet Explorer can't open, followed by Windows trying to gather data about the problem, followed by IE can't open, ad infinitum, until i unplug the computer to stop the aforementioned infinite loop insanity.My default browser is Firefox.Is it necessary to let Windows install their driver, and if so, how can this be accomplished?
For El_Gourdo, have you just waited around for a while to see if the internet connection eventually comes? Maybe Windows (Vista/7) is "thinking about it" for a while. That is what it seems to be doing in my case.
I recently upgraded the firmware to 2.0.2.01-tm (from 2.0.0.19-tm). Now I noticed the RV082's local DNS server ("DNS Local Database" feature) does not work any more. Any URL-IPaddr combo I used to put in there was resolved prior to sending a request to the WAN's primary/secondary DNS server. It isn't a PC problem. I tested on different real and virtual machines, windows and Linux. Is there new "enable" switch somwhere?

I can get an address on the computer and an old router by directly connecting the cable to the computer or the router. I can also daisy-chain the e3000 to the old router, and I can get an address on the e3000 from the old router. I have hard reset the e3000, changed firmware from the Linksys to TomatoUSB and back to Linksys, and I still can't get it to work. And it's not just the internet, I have a media server connected to it, and usually when I put something on it, the transfer rate is about 3.5MB/s (not bits, bytes). But everything is slow, I top out at speed of maybe 1/6 normal on the internet as well.

I used the e3000 router when we lived in town with broadband internet and it worked fine. I can't get it to keep a hold of a signal.
