My E3000 looses connection whenever any other computer connects whether it is a wired or wireless computer, IPAD, Mac, or anything else we have. It goes on and off any time two have connected and when it works it is very slow once another machine connects. Eventually it makes my network completely shut down.

I get an average connection on my laptop and a very low connection on my Xbox, both of which are in my room. My question is, what could I do to increase the reception in my room? Could I do anything to my router? Is it overheating(I don't think it is)?

My bad for not taking the time to think I would have to search this website to find the short list of external USB drives that will work with the E3000.All I wanted to do was store my media files on a shared network drive. I am cheating the system now and using a shared drive on the main PC. The whole point of my project is not to have the main PC running to share media.So before I go scrap this 60 day old router, using WDs My Life 2TB ETHERNET connection external HD? Does actually have one of these drives installed on a E3000 using win xp pro? I did search high and low here, but could not find a list of acceptable external Ethernet drives or size limitations.Burnt once, lesson learned, will not get burnt again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen connecting wirelessly (5GHz) to the E3000 after a day or so the wireless connection starts loosing speed. I have Comcast and usually get 20-30 MB download connections. After a day or so I start to lose speed (down to 5MB) until I reboot the E3000. Then I resume 20-30MB download connections. My wired connections appear fine and don’t experience the slow down. I'm doing my speed test with [URL]
The wireless slow down seems similar to the old memory leak condition of old Windows OS’s. Called Cisco and they don’t have an idea. They had me change a few settings (channel info) but I’m pretty technical and don’t feel that will fix it.
I just bought a new E3000 router less than 2 weeks ago. I spent hours with my tech guy setting up the router so that I was getting excellent internet speed and the connection between my computer and my nas was maximized. In the process of setting up the router my laptop (Windows 7) and the basement laptop (Vista) were set up to access the router. Both work perfectly.These are now the only two devices in the house that can get internet access.The other devices that should connect are:
-2 Laptops (both Vista)
-1 iPhone 4
-2 iPhone 3gs
-1 Printer
I can't get them to connect. I spent an hour with a guy at Cisco tonight who just couldn't seem to get past the idea that it was not the laptop that was the problem.

I set up a unique SSID and passphrase (WPA2) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. My XBOX could connect to the 2.4GHz band network and could connect to XBOX Live. But when I configured all the settings and tried to connect to the 5GHz band network, but no luck. My XBOX just said it failed to connect. But this last week, when ever I wake my monitor up after it's power saving mode kicks in, I lose my internet connection for about 15 seconds. If you look at the router before the monitor is on, I am connected. The light is on for port 1. But as soon as my monitor gets turned back on, it light just turns off and will reconnect after about 15 seconds. I've looked it up online and can only find things about when the entire system wakes up, and usually those people have to reboot their entire system to get a connection again, or turn the router off then back on. This happens when Macs or PCs connect and there doesn't seem to be any common ground between any of them. In addition the connection is slow wether the other PCs are idle or downloading anything, it seems to make no difference. my ping in any game drops from 70 to 500 just for 2 other PC being on at the saem time on the network.

I've connected my notebook to the network and the connection speed for the notebook is approx. 5.5 Mbps compared to 21.5 Mbps for the desktop connection. why the notebook connection is so much slower?I've just reinstalled both the E2500 and EA2500 tonight. I'm not sure whether or not there was such a vast difference in speed between the two before the reinstallation.

My desktop is connected to my router via ethernet and my various other devices including my laptop are wifi connected. It seems almost at random that my desktop will lose its connection.Windows will show me as still being connected and my network connection will show a normal status until I atttempt to repair it then it will change to limited or no connectivity. Through all of this, my other devices all still have a wifi signal (I don't use more than 1 or 2 at the same time). I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. I've also had several blue screens, and when I checked the dmp files it revealed my network card driver as the culprit, yet I have reinstalled and even clean installed the microsoft signed driver. I have also attempted to reboot both my modem and router to no avail.

I can access the internet most of the time on the laptop with a caveat:
There is always an ~10 minute delay before internet access is granted in addition to local access, before which time I cannot surf.In every case, when internet access is being granted, a Windows window comes up that wants to install a driver for a device.If I close the window using the x box, I can then surf to my heart's content.
If, however, I try to let Windows install the driver, I run into a loop where Internet Explorer can't open, followed by Windows trying to gather data about the problem, followed by IE can't open, ad infinitum, until i unplug the computer to stop the aforementioned infinite loop insanity.My default browser is Firefox.Is it necessary to let Windows install their driver, and if so, how can this be accomplished?
For El_Gourdo, have you just waited around for a while to see if the internet connection eventually comes? Maybe Windows (Vista/7) is "thinking about it" for a while. That is what it seems to be doing in my case.
In our area Comcast has increased the internet speed to 50mb. I have a six year old WRT54GL. Can this router pass 50mb through to the computer on a wired connection?

I can get an address on the computer and an old router by directly connecting the cable to the computer or the router. I can also daisy-chain the e3000 to the old router, and I can get an address on the e3000 from the old router. I have hard reset the e3000, changed firmware from the Linksys to TomatoUSB and back to Linksys, and I still can't get it to work. It worked fine on Saturday until a bolt of lightning hit close to the house. Since then, I cannot get the e3000 to connect to the ISP.

And it's not just the internet, I have a media server connected to it, and usually when I put something on it, the transfer rate is about 3.5MB/s (not bits, bytes). But everything is slow, I top out at speed of maybe 1/6 normal on the internet as well.

I used the e3000 router when we lived in town with broadband internet and it worked fine. I can't get it to keep a hold of a signal. I can connect to the router from the computers but the router drops the signal from the tower. I have an old router that the wireless company was kind enough to lend me that works , but the signal is weak and it could die at any moment... I"m at my wits end.. View 5 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tested QoS on the new E3000? Whenever I add an application (e.g. Voice Device) and set priority to Medium or High, my upstream bandwidth for everything else is immediately cut significantly, even when I'm not using the priority application.
For example, with QoS disabled, I can consistently get 10Mb upstream (speedtest.comcast.net). As soon as I enable QoS, upstream is capped to exactly 2Mb! On my old router, there was an option to set the total upstream bandwidth -- but on the E3000 there is no such option that I can find.
just bought an e3000 and want to use it with wireless internet- usb modem. when setting up it wouldnt go any further than the 'searching for connection' page as it couldnt detect a connection in the 'internet' lan (wan?) port.can i set it up to accept the wireless usb modem?
