More often than not, when my son wants to play on Xbox Live, the Xbox won't connect to Xbox Live. It will connect to the network and the internet but not Xbox Live. After running the connection test, the suggestion is to reboot the modem and router. It works after rebooting those two devices. Why does this happen so often?

Since I bought the EA4500 I been having the NAT problem.I bought it like 4-5 days ago. Before I had the E4200 and it was working fine on both consoles. Yesterday I did the Port Triggering and nothing changed, NAT type does not Open. One of the xbox sometimes has Open NAT Type and the other xbox Moderate NAT Type. I was using Cisco Connect Cloud but yesterday I went back to the classic layout.

I should also note that I use an ethernet cord (I don't use it wirelessly) and it has nothing to do with the ethernet cord (I've tried several). Using network magic, it does confirm that a connection to the game console and the router.I've looked through the forums and all of what I found, are NAT problems/issues or fixing a wireless issue, but not an issue when using an ehternet cord.

Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that.

How I can block out Xbox Live at certain times? I want it to shut off at 9 pm cause sometimes I work late and my daughter cannot tell time. I do know which ports I need to block but when I put it in the blocked services and put it the allow time, it still blocks it all the time. I have the wireless router with speed boost but no version.

No DSL line or anything like that, just straight up Ethernet cable. I went from having slow internet and connecting to everyone to fast internet and cannot connect to anyone, only when someone that has a open NAT to host it for me even to connect. I have tried DMZ, port forwarding, disabling UPnP and enabling it. Also I can't connect to any of my friends that have the same ISP as me.

I just recently upgraded my router from the WRT160n V3 to the E3000. I had to port forward from my old 160n to get my NAT settings from Xbox Live set to OPEN. When I switched out the router to the new E3000, my Xbox Live settings went back to Medium (Moderate). I assumed this would happend since its a new router/setup.

I Have a WRT160Nv2 and I am trying to get my nat to become unstrict for xbox live. I have tried port fowarding that has not worked. I'll start off by saying I understand about bridging your pc's wireless connection to the router and the wired connection from the xbox to the pc. I did the same thing last year with my old laptop and it worked fine.
However the problem lies in that my computer isn't recognising the xbox as a network device atal! They are connected using an ethernet cable (and the orange light comes on at port when xbox is turned on) but the only thing showing up in networked connections folder on the pc is the actual internet!
I had read that sometimes an ordinary ethernet cable isn't enough and it must be a cross over cable used to connect the pc and the xbox, so went into the shop today and purchased an adaptor that changes the cable to a cross over... but still nothing is showing up.
My computer is fairly top of the range, windows 7 and uses a netgear usb network card.
I've got an Open NAT but there's still some people i can't connect to (Xbox Live), i know theres a UPNP but it doesn't seem like it's doing anything.

Also, for some reason, I am now unable to connect to Xbox Live using my laptop as a router (plugging the ethernet cable from my xbox to my laptop). The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I've had my Linksys E2000 Router for awhile now (not a year old though), and I just discovered a problem with it.Just the other night, not even 8 hours ago, I was playing my 360, everything was fine. I then decided to go to bed, cause it was getting late. Here I am now, I boot my 360 up, and notice that my 360 couldn't connect to Live. At first I thought maybe the cable got unplugged somehow; nope. So I troubleshooted to fiind out that Ethernet Port one no longer works on my router, but switching the cable to port two, my 360 is able to go online.
Does this mean my beloved router, that I paid my hard earned cash for, has decided to start crapping out on me, or is there a fix for this? I take really good care of all my electronics, and my router sits in a spot by itself on my desk with plenty of air space. I have had no issues with this router in the past, until' now. I've always trusted Cisco, and Linksys products, and this really dissapoints me that my router might just be kicking the bucket, at not even a year old. What's the deal Cisco?
I upgraded 3 days ago from a (WRT160N ver. 1) to a (E3200) After setting it up and syncing all the devices including the XBOX 360. After signing into Live I noticed that every time I power off and power on the console it's IP address would change causing the NAT to become moderate so I went over to the Xbox360 open the Network settings and Manually set the IP address Mac address, Gateway address. Then I opened the routers settings page and Port Forwarded the correct ranges also copied the IP address I manually entered earlier on the Xbox 360. On the router side I saved the changes restarted the console and my NAT was open, but here's the Issue now when I go to sign into Live I get a pop up saying I can't connect to Live to "Test the Connection". After I "Test the Connection" then and only then I can sign into Live.
