Netgear N300 Wireless Router To Stream Netflix?
Mar 18, 2012I am using a Netgear N300 wireless router to stream Netflix movies to a Samsung Blu-ray player with wireless LAN. My problem is that some of the movies are not watchable because of rebuffering. About every two or three minutes into a film it rebuffs. Is this because of my equipment, my set-up, or is it just the nature of the beast?

I can managed to see the media server on iPhoto using WIFI connection with UpnPPeek. I'm wondering if it is possible that any iphone apps like Air Video can be able to stream movie remotely without turn on the computer?

Sep 18, 2012I got no code, and as a matter of fact have no Internet connectivity to my Bluray player. When I go to my Bluray setting tab and run a network test the MAC Address checks out but fails when it gets to IP Address. My Bluray is plugged directly into my router and it still shows no Internet connection between the two, even though my x-box 360 has no problem nor does my computer. When looking at my network settings the IP Addresss boxes all have numbers in them, the Subnet Mask boxes two of four boxes have numbers the others are zeros, the Gateway boxes are all zeros, and the DNS Server boxes are all zeros. I read many of the posts in this forum and all problems seem pretty similar to mine.

Sep 19, 2012Have an E1000 router, Samsung Blu Ray (for Netflix). At night watching Netflix is not possible with all the rebuffering and drop in picture quality. So we took the wireless laptop and set it next to the Blu Ray and started the same movie on both. The laptop played without a problem and the Blu-Ray kept rebuffering. I will probably try to hard wire the DVD but to make it permanent, will be a real pain. Having wireless would be much better.

Nov 18, 2011When watching Netflix, I can get 5 to 15 minutes of a movie no problem. Then I will get an error message:Cannot connect to Netflix. try again later. If the problem persists

Then I can watch a few more minutes and it stops again. And again, and again......I have cable inernet service (Brighthouse Communications), with the E42000 connected to the cable modem. Then I have a Panasonic WiFi adaptor (DY-WL10) plugged into a USB port on my Panasonic Viera TV. I have the latest firmware on the router (1.3.03, build 14).I have done the routine of re-cycling the network by re-setting the router (and re-setting it up) and the modem.The chat session guys had me do the following:
1) Uncheck “Filter anonymous request”.
2) Click on Setup Tab - Here you will see MTU.
3) Select Manual & set the size to 1364
4) On Wireless tab, clicked on manual, change the Channel for the 2.4 Ghz network to 9.
5) When we tried it on the 5Ghz wireless they had me set the channel Width to 40MHz Only, and set to channel – 161
I also tried setting up port range forwarding. He knew the port information, and walked me through it.I have re-set the router to factory default settings, re-installed the software, and tried the previous steps twice more (except the port forwarding, because without my friend, I am not sure exactly how) I know enough to not have multiple WiFi devices going at the same time while trying to watch Netflix, but I know that I get good WiFi download speed tests at the location of the TV with an iPad (3.6 MBPS).I have done troubleshooting on the internet service. It has a good, strong continuous uninterrupted speed.I have tried this on two different TVs (similar Panasonic models, bit with the same WiFi adaptor). Problem persists on both TVs.I tested it with a 50’ LAN Cable running from the router to the TV. Netflix worked when wired!Next test I want to do is to stream Netflix on the iPad, right at the TV and ensure that works.To me, this seems like a wireless router setting issue or an issue with the Network Adaptor, or an issue of communicating between the Router and the adaptor.

Dec 28, 2011I have an E3000 with an external hard drive attached via USB with several movies saved on it as ISO's. How to stream a movie to my wireless blu ray player, Sony S580. I was able to stream the iso to a netbook attached to the LCD tv by using VLC on the netbook. The only videos I can access on the blu ray player that are on the external hard drive are home videos I converted to DVD quality before uploading, they're not HD. I can access pictures and music on the blu ray from the external hard drive as well. I tried converting an iso to MVK but was unable to access/find it using the blu ray player.

I have been using handbrake to convert both blu-ray and DVD movies to MP4 videos with AAC audio and I have been getting strange results. If I convert a blu-ray movie to MP4 with a DTS audio track down mixed to Dolby Pro Logic II AAC then I can play the movie and I am able to fast forward and rewind. If I convert the same movie but convert the audio in any other way, AC3 pass through etc., the video will play but I will not be able to fast forward or rewind.

Jan 5, 2010On my WRT610N with firmware version 2.xxxx (latest available at this moment), I have connected a Lacie harddisk (in RAID-1) by the USB port and I have activated the mediaserver. I have connected through a wireless dongle my Samsung TV(UE46B7000) to my mediaserver.
My mediafiles are visible and can be played, however I'm not able to get my subtitles with them. I tried srt, ssa, smi, sub formats but in vain. These subtitles are stored in the same location. If however I copy the same mediafiles and subtitles directly to another external harddisk, which I connect to another USB port on the TV I can watch these mediafiles and my subtitles are also available. So my question: what do you need to do to render your subtitles visible?

I hardly had to reboot the router to get the multicast stream.With E3000 I checked the option that it should not filter any multicast traffic - when I reboot the router it works for some time - but after some hours it does not work anymore? I want to watch TV via my HTPC connected via GigaBit Power to the E3000.

Dec 13, 2012I've been viewing some videos streamed through the EA6500 from a Qnap 419p II NAS, and several video files are playing back extremely choppy.I can confirm that the video files play fine on the Xbox360 using a USB key and have also previously streamed these videos without any problems using a Belkin Wireless Pre-N router (that I upgraded from) streamed from the same NAS.I've attempted to configure the Media Prioritization feature, but haven't noticed any different results. I have also adjusted other various settings that haven't affected the playback in any way.
My only guess is that some of the files are encoded in a format that the router is struggling with - the video files are not HD videos, and their bitrates are generally quite low - if my old Belkin router can do it, the EA6500 shouldn't have any problems either.

Aug 25, 2011At home I am using the linksys wireless bridge WET610N to stream media to my livingroom. The setup looks like server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N. If I connect my laptop to the WET610N i get a speed close to 100Mbit/s. With this speed I can easily view HD movies, by playing them on my laptop. So far so good...But if I instead connect my Popcorn Hour A-100 (a media player) , to the WET610N (instead of the laptop) I get really poor performance. just a few Mbit/s, which is not enough.So my question is, why is the following setup working fine:server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N <-> LaptopWhen at the same time the following setup is working poorly:server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N <-> Popcorn HourThe WLAN connection between the Linksys E4200 and Linksys WET610N seems to be fine. The problem I am having seems to be the Ethernet connection/setup between the WET610N and the Popcorn Hour media player.

Mar 31, 2012I have a wireless network in my home, mainly for internet access via any of the 3 or 4 machines we may be using. Normally, there's not a problem with normal surfing, email checking, youtube, etc.My wireless router is a Linksys WRT300N, and the wireless adapter card in my desktop is a D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 Wireless PCI Adapter. In my previous home, the router was in the very same room as my desktop, and had no problems to speak of with this setup streaming Netflix. Now, however, I'm set up in an older home, and the router is removed from my desktop by a few walls and tight rooms. I've noticed that my network status icon on the bottom right of my desktop seems to always show "Signal Strength: Very Low".I like to use my desktop sometimes to stream Netflix. My Netflix streaming sometimes goes OK, but typically it just freezes and shows the Loading bar, and sometimes doesn't really start back. It is so bad sometimes, that I am not willing to wait it out, because I know from this experience that even if it starts back up, it will just freeze again. The video is not downloading and caching fast enough.

Apr 30, 2012I got my ea4500 all set up. never had a media servor or anything like that, figured this would be an easier way. when i hook up my exteral i can find it but i can only view the files in windows media player. how can i just browse the folders manually? WMP doesnt let me browse the folders as they actually are on the HDD which is such a pain in the **bleep**.
shows a device in "network infrastructure" but it says problem sending command to the program when i click that. i dont want to have to view the HDD in WMP as a media device...

May 12, 2012My new EA4500 (fw ver 2.0.36) won't obtain an IP from a Brighthouse TM502G cable modem. The EA4500 replaced a functioning WRT54G which would obtain an IP from the ISP. I've tried upgrading firmware and have used both straight-through and crossover cables between the EA4500 & TM502G to no avail. The EA4500 would issue IPs to it's clients, but not obtain one from it's TM502G. At the moment, all 3 are daisy-chained together with the old WRT54G in the middle in order to make the EA4500 work. Both WiFi and LAN ports function in this configuration.

May 6, 2012I'm hoping to get this router to allow WOL (actually wake on WAN) but it seems to be blocking the necessary broadcast magic packet even though the settings appear correct. It's not critical, but the reason is this: I'd like to shut down the home PC, but when necessary be able to start it up and use a VPN to access any info I need remotely.
From within the LAN, I can verity that WOL works. I have NIC and PCI WOL enabled in the BIOS. The NIC (a Marvel Yukon Gigabit) has WOL enabled as well as "allow this device to wake.." using magic packets under power management. The target machine's local IP is reserved through the EA4500 DHCP Reservation table. Just for troubleshooting, I opened port 9 in windows firewall. More importantly, I have ports 7-9 forwarded to my target LAN address. Single port forwarding... it just has been less reliable (?). I'm using a mask of 255.255.255.128 in order to enable broadcasting on .127 at some point as it seems it must be necessary. Broadcasting on .255 is not possible, despite some workarounds I found on the web. EA4500 firmware is the latest, 2.0.37. I have turned off the multicast filter and the anonymous internet filters under the security tab.
So, with these settings, I can WOL from inside the network no problem either targeting the LAN address, or by using a dyndns address. So far so good.With these same settings, I can go to WAN using Depicus or the Cloud Connect Pro app over 4G on an iPad. With all these same settings, WOLsniffer confirms the magic packet still getting through over WAN (obviously using the dyndns address). Even better, I can shutdown the target PC and STILL wake it up within a few minutes from WAN. Let me restate that! Wake up over WAN works, but only for the first few minutes after a shutdown.
However, if I wait 20 minutes or so, WOL stops working. If I change the port forwarding to .127, not only does it not work, but WOLsniffer will fail to see the magic packet. My conclusion is that the ARP table is getting purged, which is undertandable, and so the target LAN address isn't in memory. However, frustratingly the EA4500 will not broadcast no matter what settings you use. This limitation is undocumented, and counterintuitive since the software allows you to disable multicast filtering and does not notify you of an error when forwarding to xxx.xxx.xxx.127 with a 255.255.255.128 mask.

Oct 23, 2012I bought 2 weeks ago a Linksys EA4500 after searching the best Wi-Fi Router all over the net... I choose this cos all over people writed that it was amazing, fast a nd very good coverage all over the house.
Before I had a Buffalo AirStation Dual Band, wich worked perfectly. But since I have several tv and a central NAS whit all films in MKV, I wanted the BEST product for my system, so I choosed Linksys EA4500!
Well, the result is that (when it works it is greate) but sometimes it disconnects and I have to restart it... And second thing that makes me MAD is that the coverage in my house is WORST!! Before my Wi-Fi was present in all the house, now in some parts doesn't work! The position is the exact same of the Buffalo, so it's not a problem of position... I tryed also a router of 40€ and it has a better coverage! How come? how is it possible that a person pays more than 200$ (in Italy it costs 185€) and the result is so BAD??? I'm totaly freak about Linksys now.
Linksys Wireless Router :: Possible To Downgrade New EA4500
Oct 20, 2012I'm in the process of wanting to upgrade my wireless network but I'm not really agreeing to the Cloud Connect, I don't need to have my settings on the internet. I want to manage everything on my own. I've found the following link on the community to be able to put the classic firmware before the cloud connect feature {URL}.
My question now is : If I buy a brand new EA4500, will it still be possible to downgrade to that firmware? No problem with this one? I'm hoping Cisco will continue to publish bug fixing if any to this classic firmware.
