I was quite shocked and am wondering if the difference is due to the poor wireless driver in the Classic firmware that was updated in the Cloud firmware. Here are my numbers: EA3500, Classic firmware Download average 475 kb/s Upload average 725 kb/sLinksys WRT54GL Ver 1.1 (latest firmware) Download average 3250 kb/s Upload 725 kb/s
Needless to say I have gone back to my trusty WRT54GL until Cisco decides if it will update the Classic firmware and give us 2nd class Cisco customers the same hardware the 1st class Cloud customers have. Time will tell.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed my new EA6500 and everything works ok I think, Netflix across my PS3 is ok, laptop connects, and smartphones connect. The problem is that my Internet connection to my desktop (wired) PC is slow as mud. My ISP is a fiber optic provider and although I'm not sure exactly what my connection speeds are my Internet connection has always been blistering fast. With everything other than two smartphones turned off my desktops Internet access is slow. How to get my speed back and still use my new router?

I paid $199 for this router because I was hoping to take advantage of of fast N speeds and the advanced features it offers.When I first logged in to set up the router, I saw an amber exclamation point with a note that read "Updating Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Service". When I put my password in I was met with a "Unexpected Error" message.Also, the firmware updater doesn't work. Now on to the more bothersome issue. Wireless speed is poor. I replaced a WRT160NL router with this one. On my old router using WPA2-Personal (AES) I would see speeds of ~300 Mbps. On my EA6500, I see 120 Mbps. I have checked and double checked all wireless and security settings and don't see anything that looks wrong.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI Have BT Infinity and they are pushing 70mbps to my house ....i bought an EA6500 and i had real bad internet speed but amazing conection speed with my BT Home HUB3 ... 23Mbps with Cisco EA6500 and 68Mbps with my BT Home Hub3. I found out it was the Media Prioritization so just to be safe i reset my factory settings and made sure it was turned off. Just like magic i get the same now as the BT Home HUB3 .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed an E1200 router today. It automatically upgraded the firmware to the latest when I did this. Everything went smoothly.
I connected my desktop wired and my laptop wireless. I ran three different speed tests: Xfinity, speedtest, and cnet. All three showed 25-35 Mbps download and 4-5 Mbps upload. That is what my old router had too. So far, so good.
I ran the speed test that came with the E1200 router. It showed 0.30- 0.66 Mbps download and 0.58 - 2.09 Mbps upload. Note the decimal points!
Bottom line: The E1200 seems to be working fine, except that its internal speed test seems to be broken, at least when testing from a wired machine.
I just purchased a WTR610N and when I connect to the admin interface over SSL it gives me a cert that expired on 12/31/1970. I updated the firmware and that didn't change anything. How to get it to use a valid cert?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a cisco E3000 with firmware version 1.0.04. I enabled the Local Management Access with HTTPS. If I connect to the HTTPS management interface, I can see that the date of validation of the HTTPS certificate is valid.If I disconnect completly my router (disconnect the power supply), it seems that the HTTPS certificate is regenerated for the boot. The problem is that it is regenerated with a validation date from 01/01/1970 to 01/01/1971. I guess that the certificate is generated before the router is able to automatically set its own time.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI did a network test with Passmarks Performancetest. I'm running a 10/100 network with all devices connecting at 100Mb. On Performancetest there are 2 tests to run for Network speed, TCP and UDP. The TCP speed test came back with an average 62000kbps (7.5Mb), and the UDP was 89000kbps (10.8Mb). As I'm running a 100mb network, shouldn't the results of been higher?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI upgraded 3 days ago from a (WRT160N ver. 1) to a (E3200) After setting it up and syncing all the devices including the XBOX 360. After signing into Live I noticed that every time I power off and power on the console it's IP address would change causing the NAT to become moderate so I went over to the Xbox360 open the Network settings and Manually set the IP address Mac address, Gateway address. Then I opened the routers settings page and Port Forwarded the correct ranges also copied the IP address I manually entered earlier on the Xbox 360. On the router side I saved the changes restarted the console and my NAT was open, but here's the Issue now when I go to sign into Live I get a pop up saying I can't connect to Live to "Test the Connection". After I "Test the Connection" then and only then I can sign into Live.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just discovered that my wireless download speeds are 5Mbps, compared to 16Mbps if my laptop is connected directly to the modem or wired through the router. Uploads are 2Mbps either way. I have a WRT54GS v.6 with firmware version v1.52.8 which I updated today, completed by setting factory default through the router webpage after I discovered this discrepancy. The firmware update did not improve the download speed appreciably, if at all.Should the wireless connection be that much slower than the wired connection through the router? If not, what sort of issues could I be having to account for this?
I did just replace my modem when I discovered I was having erratic speedtests and that corrected that problem. That is when I became aware of the wireless issue, so not sure how long that has been the case. I have Charter's 16/2 HSI, living in a sparsely populated area with solid internet service. There is no external nor internal interference on this 2.4Ghz band.
I would like to know how to setup QOS on the linksys EA6500 wireless router. I know about the media prioritization settings, however, thats not enough for me. I would like to setup upload and download speed limits for certain devices on my network, like, say 300kbps download for a certain device at all times.

Is it possible to even get Gigabit dowload speeds via DSL or would I have to go cable to achieve something like that ?My main concern is I don't want to buy a modem that will slow down or 'throttle' the capabilities of the new router I've just purchased or have I got the wrong idea ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to use the EA6500 in my network - but nor as primary router (or in fact routing at all). I would have thought, one could simply tell the device to use a particular gateway, but it does not seem to be easy. I have used many other home routers as combined switch/AP/USB-drive (latest a D-Link DIR-655), but the EA6500 seems very picky. The "easy" "Smart Wi-Fi" setup requires internet access through the WAN port - and that divides my home network, which then have two zones which cannot really "talk" to each other. Alternatively, I can reset the device and access it directly on the IP (initially 192.168.1.1). But then I can change only LAN and WLAN settings. Stuff like Guest Access, USB-devices etc. won't work. Do anybody have success with this device without using the WAN port and the DHCP server?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a pair EA4500s that I am swapping out for a pair of EA6500s. One EA6500 is a router. The 2nd EA6500 is set as a bridge and us being used as an Access Point about 200ft and two floors above the main EA6500 router. The two units are connected via DECA (200MB Ethernet over DirecTV cable - an alternative for others with a cable provider is called MOCA). So, basically two EA6500s serving as two Access Points on opposite sides of the house and all wireless networks on different channels but all sharing the same SSID. Everything works GREAT except for one unusual issue.
The issue is with wired or wireless clients. If I try to use my PUBLIC address with port number to address a local client on the local network inside the NAT network the NAT redirection fails. In other words if I use 172.16.16.8 for a local web cam while inside my network from an iPhone or PC all works great. If I use the external public address, however, the connection times out. If I pop out the EA6500 doing the routing/NAt and swap it with the old EA4500 with basically the same config as the EA6500 everything works again. The EA6500 and the EA4500 are configured identical for the most part and with the EA4500 as the main router NAT redirection works great but with the EA6500 NAT redirection fails. I have the firewall setting to FILTER NAT REDIRECTION unchecked so that's not the problem.
Seems very odd.... and only seems to happen with the EA6500..... the work around is to use the local IP address when the client is on the inside and the public address when on the outside, but what a pain that is....
Any work around to enable reverse NAT or similar functionality on the EA6500? I recently upgraded from a Dlink that did support reverse NAT to my internal devices through a dynamic dns service. Now I have to know the IP address for all the devices.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi setup my new EA6500 with the ethernet cable from my cable modem plugged into the EA6500, but with my old E4200 still switched on, but disconnected, i seemed to have ended up with a ip address of 10.250.27.47, not the 192.168.1.1 i was expecting, which i had with the E4200, my question is, is 10.250.27.47 something i should expect with the EA6500, or do i need to do a factory reset on the EA6500 and start again with everything else switched off as a precaution ?
