Network Speed Test Results?

Jan 10, 2011

I did a network test with Passmarks Performancetest. I'm running a 10/100 network with all devices connecting at 100Mb. On Performancetest there are 2 tests to run for Network speed, TCP and UDP. The TCP speed test came back with an average 62000kbps (7.5Mb), and the UDP was 89000kbps (10.8Mb). As I'm running a 100mb network, shouldn't the results of been higher?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 Classic Speed Test?

Jun 30, 2012

I did a simple speed test comparing my EA3500 and Linksys WRT54GL. I used DSL Reports for the test. I was quite shocked and am wondering if the difference is due to the poor wireless driver in the Classic firmware that was updated in the Cloud firmware. Here are my numbers: EA3500, Classic firmware Download average 475 kb/s Upload average 725 kb/sLinksys WRT54GL Ver 1.1 (latest firmware) Download average 3250 kb/s Upload 725 kb/s
Needless to say I have gone back to my trusty WRT54GL until Cisco decides if it will update the Classic firmware and give us 2nd class Cisco customers the same hardware the 1st class Cloud customers have. Time will tell.

Linksys Wired Router :: E1200 Speed Test Faulty?

Dec 3, 2012

I installed an E1200 router today. It automatically upgraded the firmware to the latest when I did this. Everything went smoothly.
I connected my desktop wired and my laptop wireless. I ran three different speed tests: Xfinity, speedtest, and cnet. All three showed 25-35 Mbps download and 4-5 Mbps upload. That is what my old router had too. So far, so good.
I ran the speed test that came with the E1200 router. It showed 0.30- 0.66 Mbps download and 0.58 - 2.09 Mbps upload. Note the decimal points!
Bottom line: The E1200 seems to be working fine, except that its internal speed test seems to be broken, at least when testing from a wired machine.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Upload Test Error Test With Speednet

May 3, 2011

Question re:  DIR-655; Hardware ver A4; Firmware version 1.32NA

During bandwidth tests to several sites (principally I get ping times of 10-11 ms, download speeds of 12+ to 17+ mbps but failure on upload tests using my DIR-655.

When I bypass the 655 and test directly with my cable modem, all (including upload) tests work reliably and consistently.

I have swapped the two ethernet cables involved as well as replacing both with new cables but the results are the same (uploads fail with 655 and work without it)

I have seen several postings over the the last year with this same problem but have never seen any comment from D-Link, or a solution from any reader.

Not that it should have any bearing, but I have TA785GE-128M motherboard and am running Windows 7 (patch current) on COMCAST

is this problem acknowledged by D-Link and is there a solution?

Network Connectivity Outage Test?

Feb 6, 2012

I've been having problems downloading full ISO's before they're interrupted. There doesn't seem to be any real rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes a 4.1GB ISO will stop at 2GB, other times at 4.0GB. I realize I could run a ping from the time I walk in until the time I leave, but that seems a bit too archaic of a solution.nfortunately, our CTO believes SNMP is too much of a security risk

Networking :: 10 GbE Network Test M7100

Jun 30, 2013

I am used to lan testing with QCheck and Passmark's Performance Test (Network Test). But recently I upgraded to a 10 GbE switch (Netgear M7100), and it broke QCheck; basically, QCheck gave me an infinity as the result of my throughput test. Passmark performed fine, but it's just a hassle to use (or at least it's not as straight forward as QCheck).

Is there another free tool for network lan speed tests? Or is there a really cheap tool for it?Let's say I have less than 20 devices to test on.I've already tried Totusoft's lan speed test and find that its free version is useless.I'm having an itch write my own software now, but if it comes to that, I'd rather pay for a cheap software.Spent too much money on upgrading already - switches, servers, and computers)

Cisco LAN :: 2024 Switch / SF300 - Building Test Network

Now I am really new at this since my CCNA class has not yet started but I am trying to get a headstart. What I need to do is split the network up into 2 vlans to represent my data center, and the network oporation center. Ports 1,2,and 3 will be my DC; 11 and 12 will be my NOC. I need to learn how to get those two vlans to communicate. trunk? how? I need the computers to communicate flawlessly.  I would rather use the Cisco CLI and not the GUI, google is coming up with nothing descriptive.

TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless :: TL-WR740N - Network Status Test Failed

Feb 4, 2013

Region : Italy
Model : TL-WR740N
Hardware Version : Not Clear

ISP : Alice (Telecom)

I bought some days ago Tp-Link Wireless Router (Model TL-WR740N - 150 Mbps - Ver 4.23) but I couldn't install it: when I do Easy Setup Assistant, the network status test always fails because of absence of connectivity. I can see that there are some problems by the lights of the router: the WLAN light switches on, as the WAN light and the LAN light, instead of being flashed. I tried to do the installation without cd but, clicking on, I didn't find the page to access to web console but the Telecom page of the status of my connexion (nb: it reports that ethernet is unplugged).

How To Speed Up Network

Sep 19, 2012

I setup a network to run my business three years ago. It consists of 7 computers, an HP Media Smart server, three Netgear GS 605 v 3, where I connect the computers, router and printers.The server is only used as a file server and runs the backups. However, I also put together an Access database which has a front end on each computer and a back end on the server.Reading data from the database on some machines is terribly slow at times, 30 seconds or more for a response, but other times it is almost as quick as you can type.We are a lot busier now so do I need to upgrade hardware or do I have a problem. For example, my machine is just a Vista machine and writes to server at 60Mbps and reads at 21Mbps, two other Windows 7 machines write at 70Mbps but only read at 3Mbps. If I look at the Status of my Local Area Connection Status, its speed is 100.0 Mbps yet the Netgear states 10/100/1000. I have concluded that I need to change the network cards in the computers, but I don't know if I am correct.

Network Speed Is Slowing?

Feb 15, 2012

Is there a way to monitor network traffic speeds. Our companies network download speeds seem to start high, but then progressively slows to a near stop.Downloading small documents start out fast and finishes, but I noticed that the speed slows down significantly. This poses a problem when downloading larger files and documentsThe speed start out very high, but then slows to near zero and results in the file failing to complete.What i need is to find out what is causing the speed degradation and or where our bottleneck is. Is this a setting issue with the browser, security, etc.

Network Speed Stuck At 10mbps

Mar 20, 2011

The Setup On my home network, I am running Windows Server 2003 as domain controller and file server with a SCSi attached disk array.I have several client PC's. 2 running Windows XP service pack 3, 1 laptop running Windows 7 Service pack 1 and a desktop also running Windows 7 Service Pack 1.These are connected by 2 switches - 1 x Netgear gigabit switch, and a Linksys PSUS4 USB Print server at 100mbps.The PC I use the most is the desktop running Win7 and transfer files to the server.After transferring some large files from the clients to the server, I noticed that the speed was considerably slower than what I was expecting it to be. After investigating, and eliminating elements of the network, I discovered that the Server NIC was running at 10mbps. I tried the usual things like forcing the NIC to run at 100mbps Full Duplex but this had no effect. Strangely, if I reboot the server while the desktop is still switched on the connection goes back to 100mbps. However if I reboot the desktop, or even alter the network settings, it immediatley reverts back to 10mbps.
