Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410N / Cannot Log Into The WAP To Find The PIN Number

Jan 18, 2011

I am trying to set up a Linksys WAP4410N on our network.  We are trying to run it using unrestricted access, but it is requiring a pin number.  The prompt I get when trying to connect to the WAP is that the number should be in the original documentation.  I can not find the original documentation and I cannot log into the WAP to find the PIN number.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Maximum Number Of Port Forwards

Apr 19, 2012

Background: currently have a WRT320N, thinking of upgrading to an EA4500 assuming ONE feature has been improved: Port Forwarding.

Scenario: Currently I have a WRT320N router, and while it "does everything we need" it has one limitation that is now getting in the way: limitation on number of forwardable ports.  In the port forwarding panel, it has 15 total rows: the first five rows can be enabled for specificaly named services (SMTP, FTP, etc).  The last 10 rows are fully customizable in that we can set the name, ports and protocol.

The problem is that of the 13 total ports I currently need to forward, only ONE of them is listed in that fixed list.  So, sadly, I can only use one of those first five rows.  I've now filled the remaining ten custom rows, and still have need for two additional ports (for now, may need more down the road).

Trying to get creative, I figured maybe I could just spill over to the Port Range Forwarding page and add a row or two there.  The only problem: it's buggy.  I've found that if the Single Port Forwarding list is filled, then the Port Forwarding Range entries don't work properly.  For example, if I wanted ports 12345 and 12346 forwarded to 192.168.1.5, they work fine with two single port forwarding entries.  However, if I delete those, add two other port lines I need forwarded (the single list being full again), and add a port forwarding range 12345..12346, they don't work properly, ports just are closed. Only the singles work, the ranges don't.

Question: Has the EA4500 resolved this issue and allow for either more lines (i.e. 20 customizable entries instead of 10), or, better, does it just have an [Add Entry] button to allow for additional rows to be created?  In today's day and age, where one single device (such as an Xbox) can take four rows, a 10-row limit is pretty sparse.  Comparing it to some competitors, for example the D-Link DIR-825 (aging, but still great) allows you to add as many as you want.

I realize "expensive" firewalls like SonicWall's have virtually unlimited customization, but I don't need many of the additional features and don't want to spend $350 on a "high-end" firewall to solve the problem of needing two more ports open.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 V2 - Find Hardware Version Number?

In January 2012 I bought a Linksys E4200v2. I am trying to download a firmware version upgrade and it wants to know what hardware version I have. The top of my router (where the model number is displayed), only has E4200. I have looked through my receipts, the box it came in, and anything else I can find to do with the router - they all have the E4200v2. In case the 'v2' portion is for the hardware version, I do not want to download the wrong firmware version and end up with a router that doesn't work

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160N Doesn't Display Version Number On Bottom

Jul 2, 2011

My router is the WRT160N, and it doesn't display the version number on the bottom which according to your website means my router is a VERSION 1.SO, why is it that my router says it has:

Firmware Version: v1.53.0    Dec 19, 2007
 And the latest firmware is
 Firmware 11/08/2010 Ver.1.02.11

That looks like an EARLIER firmware version to me judging by the firmware version yet it is dated later.  **bleep**.  If you want, I can upload a photo of my router's model no. for all to see.My question is, am I safe to 'upgrade' to this 'earlier but dated later' firmware version or not?  Why is mine showing as having a later version.

Cisco Wireless :: 802.11 WAP4410N To WAP4410N Backhaul Using N Protocol?

Apr 30, 2011

I have the following equipment:

Cisco 871W router
2x WAP 4410N APs running 2.0.3.3

I currently have 1 AP connected to the router via copper.  The AP to AP link is over 802.11.  I have attached a diagram reflecting the current topology.

The AP-to-AP link will come up utilizing B/G/N mixed mode; however, the connection is basically unusable.  About 30% of the traffic is dropped, while the packets that do make it have a consistently volatile latency, anywhere from 15 to 1500 ms. I have had success using G-only and B/G mixed.  The link is stable (I have had the best results with B/G).  The problem is, I didn't buy the 2nd 4410N to run the G protocol.  I would like to connect the APs running either B/G/N (hopefully negotiating to N) or N only.  I am wondering if there is a certain configuration I can utilize (perhaps using WDS repeater or bridge versus Wireless Client/Repeater?), or a firmware upgrade set for release that can make this happen for me.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: Maximum Number Of AE2500 To Be Installed On XP SP3 PC?

May 7, 2012

What are the maximum number of AE2500 wireless adapters can be installed on a PC running Windows XP SP3 using the windows wireless zero configuration? Recently I'm working on a program that needs multiple seperate wireless connections on a Windows XP SP3 PC. Each wireless adaptor is given a static IP address to respond to traffic at some specific ports. I can install four AE2500 adaptors without problem, but  it disconnects the first AE2500 device when I plug in the fifth AE2500 adapter. I've tried on different windows XP machines. They all get the same problem. I wonder if it is a limitation in the AE2500 driver.BTW I've also tried to install an Valet AM10 adaptor as the fifth adapter, it seems ok. Yet installing more AM10 adapters beyond the fifth (4 AE2500 + 1 AM10) requires some luck. It may disconnect the other AM10 devices when I plug in another AM10 adapter.

Cisco :: Translate Called Number Based On Calling Number?

Mar 26, 2011

I have some tunnels which terminate to my home router. I'm allowing the other ends of the tunnels to use my voice setup. I need to prepend *67 to all called numbers which don't originate from my house. I don't want people calling my home number based on the caller-id number they see when someone across one of the tunnels calls.

So if 5008 calls 212-333-4444 I want it sent to my provider as *672123334444. If 5001 calls a number, I don't want it touched. Can I do this? I can use IOS or CUCM here.

Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410n As A Repeater To Old 3com Router

May 17, 2011

I just bought WAP4410N from about 3 days ago, I would like it to work as a wireless repeater to my 3com router model 3CRWDR100A-72. In the router setup page I enabled WDS, made a search for the wireless networks and I found the WAP signal and the router already got its MAC address. I went to AP mode in the WAP4410N, enabled the WDS repeater and made a site search for the router and got its SSID and MAC address.

Although all the above steps, everytime I connect any client to the WAP4410N I can not connect to the internet, all what I got is just the IP of the WAP and subnetmask without any default gateway nor DNS

In addition I tried to setup the WAP as wireless client epeater, but the same thing hapen, I can not connect to the internet through the WAP.

I am using WPA encryption on the router but I did not get any notification to enter the pass key during the setup of the WAP, which is strange for me!

Do I have to change my 3com router to linksys one as the 3com is not compatible with the WAP?

Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410N Firmware Update Crashes Router

Sep 23, 2010

I recently upgraded the firmware from 2.0.2.1 to 2.0.3.3 and when the router rebooted the interface was missing many items.  On the basic setup page the boxes were missing to set the local ip address, subnet mask and anything below that.  On the Wireless Security page the security mode box was half it's size and did not have any options in it.  The wireless isolation wpa algorithm, preshared key and key renewal boxes were missing too.  I rebooted the router and still got the same thing.  I was able to get into administration and reset to the factory default.  Once the router rebooted I was unable to get into the interface at all.  It wouldn't come up at all. The power and light were blinking but I was unable to connect to it.  I tried to connect with 192.168.1.245 and the one I had set manually but no luck with either.  I was able send back the router for an exchange with Cisco.  I received the new one today.  It started up and everything worked great. I decided to try the firmware upgrade again.  I went from the firmware version that was on there(I didn't right down)  to 2.0.2.1 and the upgrade worked as the other 3 I have.  I than tried the 2.0.3.3 upgrade and I got the same thing as the other router I sent back. I have 3 other routers in place that I will not be upgrading at this point.  I should not have tried the upgrade again on the one today but being a bank the examiners like everything up to date and it's part of the monthly check.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 - Set Up One Way Connectivity From Laptop?

Mar 13, 2013

I just installed the E2500 wireless router, and it works great for all devices we've tried so far. Here's the thing: we have a laptop that has been humming perfectly along for more that 12 years because we have never let it be touched by the internet. It has built in wi-fi, but we've never connected it. It has no viruses, no Microsoft creep, we've never had to purchase a virus software update and it has outlasted every piece of computer equipment we've ever owned. We'd like to keep it that way!

But now that the wireless printer is working beautifully, we want to know if there's a way to send the laptop through the router to the wireless printer, but not expose it to the internet. Is that possible?
