Will the WRT160N work with the WAP4410N range booster? Will it power the booster over ethernet cable? my location has several concrete walls and the signal from the router is blocked. Will the WAP4410N work better in this environment?

I would like to know what to buy to extend the range of my wireless network , which will not reach throughout my house.
Also, I would like to know what the button is for on the front of of the router, since it is not a WPS button, according to ATT.
I have WRT160N router and am not sure if I have a connectivity problem or a setting issue. I've done a speed test with speakeasy.net and get fine through the hard wire desktop (25.16/3.77) but when I do it on my wireless laptop I get 2.03down / 3.66up. The speeds were basically the same right next to router as it was 40' away.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT160n that I am trying to forward some ports on for some DVR equipment. When I use the single port forwarding and enter each port separately it works fine. But I have 2 DVR's and they use a bunch of ports each so I want to use the port range forwarding because there are not enough spots in the single port forwarding section. The ports I am trying to forward are 8000-8004 for one IP address and 8005-8009 for a second IP address. I have entered it into the port range forwarding section but I can not connect from outside my network. As I said if I enter them in the single port section seperately as 8000,8001,8002,8003,8004 then I can connect fine outside my network.

ON the WRT160N V3 i configured a DMZ on 192.168.0.100.and Disabled the Firewall.
On the LOCAL_PC (192.168.0.100:8888) is a Apache
So when i type 192.168.1.1:8888 on the WAN_PC i get NOOO Website from the Apache on 192.168.0.100:8888?
I am cascading a wrt160n (R1) and a wrt160nl (R2) which are hooked up LAN port to LAN port (via a DLink power line adapter). R1 is hooked up via dhcp to the internet. The whole system works wonderfully for several hours until all of a sudden wireless access to R2 ceases to work (though I still can access everything wired). [code]

With an RDP app, i can access my work network from multiple public locations from my iPad. At home, on my laptop, I start the cisco client then use the windows rdp, presto i'm in my work network. At home on my iPad I can activate the VPN, but I can not connect with rdp. I spoke with linksys support tonight they had me add port 3389 to port range triggering and disable the firewall on the home router. This didn't solve the problem. To recap: 1) I can connect to my work network with rdp from multiple public locations, but not at home with the iPad 2) I can connect to my work network at home with my laptop with the cisco client ant the windows rdp

So I purchased a WAP4410N to use as a range extender. provide the exact settings that are need to set this up? I have tried many, many different configurations, and I can't get it to work properly. In particular, it will not give me an IP address and therefore won't connect. Also, is it important to use the SAME SSID name? or better to use a different name so as not to confuse the two signals (base unit vs repeater (4410)).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WAP4410N which I have had for awhile and the performance was flawless at what appeaared to be 300 Mbps. I udated the firmware recently to 2.0.4.2. This is when the problems started. Within 15 feet of the acccess point it would drop the connection and speeds were under 65 Mbps. I factory defaulted the unit and reinstalled the firmware with no changes. I run several other access points of differnt manufacturers and I get fantastic performance on draft N and G. I did check all the laptops for network adapter incosistansies. Have I made a configuation mistake? I only changed the IP address to bring it into the range of other devices. I use a sa520 router and a Trendnet Gigabit switch and a server with MS SBS 2008 which works well with all but the WAP4410N.

The card worked well with my previous AP Netgear ME-102 (in WEP 128 bits mode) and DLink DWL-G700AP (in WPA PSK TKIP mode).
The AP is not faulty since the other laptops connect successfully, only my pocket PC with the SDIO card fails
I have purchased 4 of these devices about 2 months ago and have experienced all of the issues reported within this thread. The came with the 2.0.0.5 FW rev installed, so unless the 2.0.0.5 on the cisco DL site is different, nothing I can do with that.I've tried making them work as stand alone AP's, Bridge<-> Bridge, etc... all modes seem to lock up eventually needing a reboot to get any functionality back.Ultimately, I need to make them work in AP<->Client-Repeater mode. I've not been successful in making them work in any mode for a prolonged period of time.
having just rfound this thread today, I have not tried hard coding the NIC's to 100/full, but will give it a try. If it works, great, but then that would defeat the purpose of buying an N radio AP. I would like the potential 300Mbps throughput.
I am trying to set up a WAP4410n Wireless access point and add to my home network. One problem I can't seem to get around. The IP adress range setup does not accept 1 (example 192.168.1.245) as a range setup for IP address. How do i get in communication with the unit when I can't view the setup due to the factory default set as 192.168.1.245? If it were 192.168.0.245 I could easily change my routers IP range to include it.

I have spent approximately 8 hours troubleshooting the other 2 only to be told they're defective. So, I got a new one. Now, this one keeps cutting in and out. I want as my iPhone constantly switches from 3G to wifi on and over every minute. It really ticks me off! What can I do to fix this? This is a different issue than the original one (very slow) and 2nd (no signal). It's disappointing for a $90 router to do this. I also see the wireless icon on the router flash.
