View 1 Repliesi have a WRT160N V3 and DMZ or Portforwarding dont work.i tried locally following
WAN_PC-> WAN-PORT -> WRT160N V3 -> LOCAL-PORT -> LOCAL_PC
The WAN_PC has a Static-IP 192.168.1.2, Subnet 255.255.255.0
The WAN-PORT has a Static-IP 192.168.1.1, Subnet 255.255.255.0
ON the WRT160N V3 i configured a DMZ on 192.168.0.100.and Disabled the Firewall.
On the LOCAL_PC (192.168.0.100:8888) is a Apache
So when i type 192.168.1.1:8888 on the WAN_PC i get NOOO Website from the Apache on 192.168.0.100:8888?
Will the WRT160N work with the WAP4410N range booster? Will it power the booster over ethernet cable? my location has several concrete walls and the signal from the router is blocked. Will the WAP4410N work better in this environment?

View 4 Replies View Relatedhome router is a wrt160n v3 With my iPad I set up the built in IPSec VPN to my office's cisco gateway. I successfully get the VPN logo. With an RDP app, i can access my work network from multiple public locations from my iPad. At home, on my laptop, I start the cisco client then use the windows rdp, presto i'm in my work network. At home on my iPad I can activate the VPN, but I can not connect with rdp. I spoke with linksys support tonight they had me add port 3389 to port range triggering and disable the firewall on the home router. This didn't solve the problem. To recap: 1) I can connect to my work network with rdp from multiple public locations, but not at home with the iPad 2) I can connect to my work network at home with my laptop with the cisco client ant the windows rdp

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've worked on it and read on it for almost 2 days and I'm stuck. I'm using a Win 7 Pro desktop that is hardwired and a Win 7 Home Premium laptop wireless. Both current on all updates.
My Comcast modem is hooked into a WRT160N that is hardwired to the desktop PC and to a WRT400N which is being used as an access point. Both routers have the latest firmware. Both routers have the same SSID, security and password but use different channels. (2 & 6) Internet works perfect both wired and wireless through both routers.
The homegroup has been set up through the desktop but I've removed and added homegroups on both machines multiple times. My problem doesn't go away. The homegroup works when the laptop is either wired or wireless using the WRT160N. It will not work at all through the WRT400N. I can be in the room with the WRT160N hooked to the homegroup, when I move to the other router so the wireless switches to the WRT400N, it drops the homegroup. The internet stays connected just fine as I move back in forth so the IDs and security has to be correct. Once the laptop drops the homegroup, it can't find it until I go back and connect to the main router.
Both machines have IPv6 addresses, auto discovery is on.
I also have an XP machine hooked to the main router. The desktop can see it but it also is invisible to anything using the WRT400N router. I also made sure all PCs are using the same Network ID with no password.
It seems to me that neither Homegroup or Home Network are passing between the two routers since everything works fine using just one router.
why Windows Backup in Windows 7 pro 64 would not backup over the network to a drive I have connected to the 4200s USB port? Everytime I run it I get a Access Denied error at the end, even though data has been transfered. After about 5 hours of searching both here and Microsoft's website, I just get lots of people with the same issue that hasnt been resolved anywhere consistantly.

I just wanted to note that the 3.2.7 driver obtained from Windows Update doesn't work well, drops connections and takes longer to establish a connection. I've tried to update twice and each time I go back to the older driver. Can someone at Linksys examine the performance of this driver?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the e4200 and I am having trouble getting DHCP reservation to work properly with my Windows 7 machines. Perhaps there is a step that I am missing. Basically I go to the DHCP reservation setup page, select my machine and add it to the reservation table. Then I save the changes. As soon as I do this my computer goes offline. If I reboot my machine, it is still offline. I've tried the same procedure to reserve the IP address for my phone and it works fine so I wonder if the problem is with Win7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to reset my IP address, so I called my cable internet service provider and they walked me through the process. I unplugged the ethernet cable from my router and connected my computer directly to my modem. Then, I unplugged the coax cable from my modem, plugged in back in again, and within Windows did ipconfig/renew in the command prompt. This successfully changed my IP address.
Then, I ran my wires back into the router again (instead of plugging the computer directly into the modem). To my surprise, the old IP address was back again! So, I went into linksys 192.168.1.1 screen to release the IP address and started the process over again.
I got a new IP address once again, but now the Linksys router can't seem to figure out the new IP address so nothing works going through the router.
Can you turn a linksys WRT160n into a repeater? Also, if it's connected to a network can you use it as a second wireless access point in your home?

My computer has today 3x2 TB WD Green disks and thay are really slowing my system down so now I need to move them to somekind of NAS.I was first lookin at the "Synology Disk Station DS411j" but then I found that I got some old hardware laying around (AMD 3200+ CPU, 1 GB ram,XFX GeForce 7600GT, Seasonic SS-300FT in a Thermaltake Xaser II chassi). So now I got some questions :
1. I was looking into running FreeNas on my NAS but if the NAS is crashing then it will be alot of work to get the data back? Is it right that its not possible to just mount a drive from the FreeNas in to my Windows7 computer and read the data?
2. If I install Windows 2008(not r2 that demands 64bits CPU) and then uses dynamic volums to get one big volume, what will happen if this Windows2008 craches? will it be able to place one of the disks in my windows7 computer and reda the data?
3. What happens if one disk i a dynamicvolume craches? will all data be lost?
4. Is there any sleepmode in Windows2008? If would be nice if the computer shutsdown at night and startsup when it is about to be used.
5. Will a finished product like the "Synology Disk Station DS411j" demand less power? Will I earn anything to buy the DS411j instead of my old hardware if we look on the economics?

I cannot get into my Linksys WRT160N router web page. I'm hardwire connected to the router. My computer is using DHCP IP addressing. The router has assigned it the standard 198.169.1.100. I can ping the router at 192.168.1.1. Wireless and Wired connections through the router to the internet are OK, no trouble accessing internet sites. Linksys advisor displays the router address as 192.168.1.1, so it has not been changed from the factory default. The advisor shows my networked devices clear back to the internet and claims there are no problems. After entering 192.168.1.1 into IE, IE appears to connect and is waiting for the router to respond. After a few minutes, it times out with failure to connect message. I've tried Safe mode with internet access, I've temporarily disabled my Windows and McAfee Firewalls, and the McAfee virus scanner. All to no avail.

I have a wrt160n v3. This is the 3rd one - both the first 2 were defective. I have spent approximately 8 hours troubleshooting the other 2 only to be told they're defective. So, I got a new one. Now, this one keeps cutting in and out. I want as my iPhone constantly switches from 3G to wifi on and over every minute. It really ticks me off! What can I do to fix this? This is a different issue than the original one (very slow) and 2nd (no signal). It's disappointing for a $90 router to do this. I also see the wireless icon on the router flash.
