I am cascading a wrt160n (R1) and a wrt160nl (R2) which are hooked up LAN port to LAN port (via a DLink power line adapter). R1 is hooked up via dhcp to the internet. The whole system works wonderfully for several hours until all of a sudden wireless access to R2 ceases to work (though I still can access everything wired). [code]

With an RDP app, i can access my work network from multiple public locations from my iPad. At home, on my laptop, I start the cisco client then use the windows rdp, presto i'm in my work network. At home on my iPad I can activate the VPN, but I can not connect with rdp. I spoke with linksys support tonight they had me add port 3389 to port range triggering and disable the firewall on the home router. This didn't solve the problem. To recap: 1) I can connect to my work network with rdp from multiple public locations, but not at home with the iPad 2) I can connect to my work network at home with my laptop with the cisco client ant the windows rdp

ON the WRT160N V3 i configured a DMZ on 192.168.0.100.and Disabled the Firewall.
On the LOCAL_PC (192.168.0.100:8888) is a Apache
So when i type 192.168.1.1:8888 on the WAN_PC i get NOOO Website from the Apache on 192.168.0.100:8888?
Will the WRT160N work with the WAP4410N range booster? Will it power the booster over ethernet cable? my location has several concrete walls and the signal from the router is blocked. Will the WAP4410N work better in this environment?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a FIOS setup with their Router/modem providing DHCP and Wireless routing. The problem I have is that I have a mix of older equipment and newer equipment. The newer equipment is capable of supporting WPA2, the older is not. I would like the benefits of WPA2, but still would like to at times be able to use the older equipment.My solution was to use a WRT160N v2 router that I had as an access point and it also gives me switch capabilities for wired systems as the FIOS router in on a different floor than the Linksys router. Wired access works just fine and the wireless worked fine until just recently.Since both routers have the same default IP addresses I changed the Linksys to a different static IP and turned off DHCP. I left all of the other defaults the same. I set up the Linksys for WEP and created the key for security. Everything worked fine for the better part of a year, but recently I am having problems where some of the computers cannot find the network or find it then lose connection.

I have a switch attached to the router and have the 160 attached to the switch. I can ping and access the 160, however there signal strength has not changed and is still extremely low. I know that the strength on the router is very good when I plug it in to the cable modem.

Our LAN uses IP address in the range 10 with subnet 255.0.0.0, so I need to put the access point ino this subnet. The drop down box only allows me to set some predefined subnet masks, none of which matches ours. So how am I supposed to set this router in our LAN?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Belkin "ADSL 2+ Model with Wireless G" router suddenly stopped allowing wireless access this afternoon - right in the middle of use - although the wired connections to that router still work fine. No settings seem to have been changed on the router, and I'm the only one with access. Two phones and a laptop that normally work fine just won't get an connection. The laptop - running windows 7 - says the configuration saved did not match what the router was asking for. I tried another computer that doesn't normally connect by wireless and was prompted for a WEP key - which is odd because the router is configured for WPA/WPA2 AES access with a 9 character pre-shared key. After trying a key unsucessfully I haven't been able to get that prompt up again.Meanwhile I've gone into the router settings and it's definitely set to ask for WPA/WPA2. There are some WEP keys specified if I use the drop-down menu to select WEP, but I can't get any device to prompt me to enter one now.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was unable to access the web admin on my WRT160n v3 w/ latest firmware this morning. Reset config to defaults & was able to get in. Enabled HTTPS access & disabled HTTP access & was right back where I started; reset to defaults again & left both boxes checked. Can access via HTTP, but HTTPS requests get refused/reset.
The reason I needed access was that when I booted up my laptop this morning, my wireless card wasn't picking up an IP address via WIFI, only worked via ethernet, so I need to see what was going on there — several reboots of the router didn't fix, nor has it fixed the HTTPS access problem described above.
I want to use my WRT160n in my room to connect all my devices (Xbox, playstation 3, and 3 laptops) I hardwired the E3000 from the room downstairs thats connected to everything else.

I accidentally connected to computer fix it firm that linked to my PC and wanted a large sum to fix the problem which he said was due to large number of temp?? internet files and once removed he would change the IP address of the desktop computer? View 6 Replies View RelatedI've worked on it and read on it for almost 2 days and I'm stuck. I'm using a Win 7 Pro desktop that is hardwired and a Win 7 Home Premium laptop wireless. Both current on all updates.
My Comcast modem is hooked into a WRT160N that is hardwired to the desktop PC and to a WRT400N which is being used as an access point. Both routers have the latest firmware. Both routers have the same SSID, security and password but use different channels. (2 & 6) Internet works perfect both wired and wireless through both routers.
The homegroup has been set up through the desktop but I've removed and added homegroups on both machines multiple times. My problem doesn't go away. The homegroup works when the laptop is either wired or wireless using the WRT160N. It will not work at all through the WRT400N. I can be in the room with the WRT160N hooked to the homegroup, when I move to the other router so the wireless switches to the WRT400N, it drops the homegroup. The internet stays connected just fine as I move back in forth so the IDs and security has to be correct. Once the laptop drops the homegroup, it can't find it until I go back and connect to the main router.
Both machines have IPv6 addresses, auto discovery is on.
I also have an XP machine hooked to the main router. The desktop can see it but it also is invisible to anything using the WRT400N router. I also made sure all PCs are using the same Network ID with no password.
It seems to me that neither Homegroup or Home Network are passing between the two routers since everything works fine using just one router.
After updating the firmware on my WRT160N. I can ping it with no problem, but I can't access it via my browser to modify settings.

-I have emptied all cache, cookies, etc.
-I have reset the router to factory defaults and updated the firmware
-I can load both sites from other networks, however two different computers using my router fail to load these two sites.Until a couple days ago I was able to access both of these sites regularly, and I haven't installed anything or changed any settings on my computer.The fact that two different computers cannot load these sites seems to indicate that it is a router problem.
