I already made sure that the ethernet cables weren't the problem. I hook the cables up as instructed, but can't get the internet connection. I'm running Winows Vista Home Premium and according to my ISP (cable service), the ISP settings should already be set up to connect automatically with the router. It's a used router (not new) and I've already reset it several times..

View 2 Replies View RelatedRouter: WRT54G
Network: 802.11g (and I'm using WEP)
Wifi Adapter: Intel R Centrino R Ultimate-n 6300 AGN
No. of devices connected to wireless network: 5
My problem is that whenever 2 devices have joined the wireless network, I will not be able to do so despite placing the laptop or iPhone right next to the router, hence getting excellent signal strength. Or, if I am already connected to the network, I get knocked out repeatedly. I don't think it is a hardware or software issue because I'm still able to connect and get a very stable connection after someone leaves the wireless network. This is getting frustrating and I have tried all ways and means to resolve this but to no avail. Is this about some setting that I can tweak, e.g. to allow more users onto the network? But this has already been configured to '50'!
I cant get the WRVS4400N to connect to my cable modem. The WAN link light isnt even lighting up. Im wondering if this unit is bad out of the box. Is there a setting im missing to get them to talk to one another. This is no mention in any of the manuals.
Â
Connections: - The "Internet" port on the WRVS4400N to the "Network" port on my cable modem (No link light)
Â
Here is what i have verified at this point: - My old router connects instantly to the modem when plugged in (Same cable) - When i plug my laptop into the WAN port on the WRVS4400N i get a link light. When i plug the modem into the WAN port...nothing.Â
When I connect the ethernet directly to my mac the internet works fine, but when I try to connect through my Linksys WRT54G2 V1 Wireless-G Broadband Router I can't connect to the internet. Omitting a few minor problems, my router has been working fine for the past year and a half. Recently it started giving me trouble so i have started trying a number of things to fix it, but I'm no expert in this category. The other day i tried updating the firmware which actually worked for a couple of hours, but then stopped working again.

Then I plugged the ethernet cord from the WRT54G to the computer. Then I turned on the computer. I was able to access the Interface for the WRT54G but I was not able to connect to the internet. I tried power cycling multiple times both the DSL modem and the WRT54G. I was unable to access the internet. Finally I plugged the WRH54G back in and everything worked fine. why the old WRH54G can connect to the internet and the WRT54G cannot?

WinXP SP3 / Win 7 when tries to connect to wireless using WEp 64 or 128 bit does not connect?
Just got the new Linksys E1000, and follow the Cisco Connect to setup. No IP received from the service provider (which is Fibre-to-the-building, no modem is required). Goto the setup page and confirmed that the connection type is "DHCP".Once i unplug the cable from E1000 (internet port) and plug into my old wireless router, everything work nicely.  The internet connection & cable itself seems fine. Switch the cable into notebook, and get the IP as well, it seems the service provider didn't lock the mac address of the devices (routuer nor PC). Cloned the mac address but nothing improved.Tried release the IP before unplug from the old router, switch off old router, and wait 10mins before connected to E1000 but still no luck.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem I have was that last night I unplugged my router and replugged it back in. As soon as that happened, there was no connection between my router and the modem. This morning, I tested to see if it was the modem by connecting an ethernet cable from my desktop to it, and was able to get online. Then, II reset the router and a sucessful connection was made between the two. On my desktop my old network was gone, but the Cisco network was there, leading me to create a new network as if it was a new router. After setting up a new network, I am not able to connect to the internet.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed an e2500 to my cable modem and everything went perfect. Then 2 weeks later the electricity went off for some power company upgrades. when the power came back on the modem wouldnt connect. I have been through every solution in the cisco articles. The computer connects when directly wired to the modem, so I know there is signal. When I place the router into service and use the ethernet connection the modem no longer displays the active internet led. The e2500 ethernet led to the computer lights and the power led. The Ethernet led from the modem to the router doesn't light. I did a complete reset on the router. The setup software only runs to 75% complete then stops and tells me to check the plugs. Ive checked, replaced and swapped the cables. I've set the MAC to clone, and verified the MAC address via ipconfig. Ive done the complete powercycle at least 20 times.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an E1500 router to create a wireless connection. I had been using an older Cisco model previously.
I can't get it to connect. I have tried everything that is written in the support articles. In particular, I followed the article 3686, about setting up a router with cable internet modem, after the Cisco Connect didn't create the connection automatically. When I plug the laptop directly into my modem, I have a connection. I have reset the modem and the router several times in the process. I've been to the web-based setup page and followed all of the instructions about cloning the MAC. When I hit the release and renew IP addresses (under the Status tab), nothing happened. They remained 0.0.0.0
Â
Called my ISP, but they say it's a router issue.I think I'm going to start from scratch--uninstalling the Cisco Connect, reinstalling it, turning everything off and back on again to see if it somehow will work automatically.
