I have returnd my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 2727) to factory setting, increased the memory and installed Windows 7. Wireless was working fine until I installed Windows 7. Everything works fine on the Ethernet cable, the usual way of turning on the wireless connection using Fn+F1 is not working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble installing the wusb100 adapter on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine. I have downloaded the updated files and when I go to install the software, I get to the section that says, "plug in the adapter." At that point, it says it can see the adapter and it sits for 3 minutes trying to complete the install. The I get error 211 which says the adapter is plugged in wrong and to try again. I notice that the adapter is set up with drivers in the Hardward Management area of Windows, however, I cannot access the adapter to set it up. Thoughts? I have also tried to manually install the drivers but they are installed. The trouble is I can't see the adapter.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7 on my wifes new com and the device couldn't detect any connections using the default drivers (windows called it an nvidia wireless network card). I downloaded the drivers put them on her hd via flash drive and attempted to update the device drivers through the device manager but it says the drivers are already up to date. I uninstalled the device and windows called the device MCF-J415W and when I tried to update the drivers again it said the drivers were not correct. I'm not sure what is going on here and why linksys doesn't just have a .exe driver installer. I've had the same issue with my wife's computer when it had win xp except it didn't have any generic drivers to install. Also I tried selecting the driver from the list of pre-loaded drivers and found one for the exact device but it would not install those either.

There are several ways to recover such sensitive data and I would trust you to recover in all honesty for the sake and security of the business you work for or even your home network.So how do I recover the key if I don't know the gateway login to my router? the end user will likely default their router to recover the sensitive data but after defaulting they then realize that the SSID key has now been wiped out. The problem now is that all other trusted devices will be disconnected and the set up for the router; well that's just common sense, you would need to set up your static all over again (if applies) and your security as well. Use other devices in your house, trusted devices that have already been able to connect. Windows 7 is the protagonist in this role. Windows 7 enables the use of wireless profiles to be saved for faster connections to be made within the broadcasted range of the SSID. Btw SSID is the network name you see appear in your Wireless Manager. I.e.Bat_Cave; Starbucks; Barnes & Noble Wifi etc.

An infrastructure wireless network that has an access point; however this term can be used either SSID or eSSID. You will see eSSID with Point to Point; backhauls, switches, subscriber modules or comtrols; there are tons others but I won't stress other device types. Rarely will you connect to an AP, likely the type of service you receive depends on what you connect to, radio equipment like Canopy, Ubiquiti and Motorola are technologies you will see that are wireless based. What you are seeing is coming from a smaller device within your home or office network. If you use a Verizon air card, it's likely connecting to a nearby AP or a nearby radio which is pointing to an AP.Back to reality now, in order to locate profiles used in Windows 7 we head to the location by two categories of view in the control panel:
Small Icons Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing > Manage Wireless Networks (This can be found in the left navigation within the vertical blue strip.)
Category Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing > Manage Wireless Networks (This can be found in the left navigation within the vertical blue strip.)
What you will see here may be a small list or a large list of every network you have connected to since you purchased the notebook. Now certificate trusted networks will appear here however they may not contain a key. The company I work for requires certificate of authentication and then the use of password linked to Active Directory as long as my computer is on the domain controller. Each wireless profile you see appear here has its own configuration and each configuration is bound to the SSID or network name. It's like the title of a book with its own story. You can have two (2) books with the same name but a different story. When I say different story, I am referring to a different encryption standard; cipher and wireless password. You can see below I have two (2) wireless networks with the same name but notice the different settings.

The reason I am showing you two (2) configurations is because when you are recovering a key for a network, you want to make sure the configuration is the same or else the door will always be locked until you correct your errors. The network name we have is Bat_Cave and we need to recover the key for the SSID that has a Cipher of TKIP.Right click the profile name and click properties. This will allow you to change SSID configuration on the notebook ONLY; in case changes have been made to the router or a buddy changed his encryption standard on his home network. Yeah it's easy enough just to remove the profile and reconnect; but that would be too easy, you wouldn't learn anything.Once you are in the properties of the wireless profile, click the [Security Tab] up top and you will see: encryption standard, cipher and the key; and as a plus, a check box to show you what the key is. Show the hidden contents and copy or write down the key.By using other trusted device on your network or business, you can utilize the resources that you have, to recover a password on your home or business network so long you have the permission from your superior and a good heart for positive intent.
At power on and off on my laptop, the wireless internet connection is lost on windows 7.

I go into drive manager all of my drivers for example ethernet controller, network controller, excetera all have yellow (!). also instead of having my wireless icon at the bottom I now have a computer with an ethernet cable over it with a big red X.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAny here ever used a Windows Server 2008 Core installation? Got one running on a VM right now, thought I'd try it. After installing VMWare Tools things really speeded up. Now gave it a static IP, installed Active Directory services (DNS along with it) and everything seems to work. The RAM usage is about the same, but so far it's been much more responsive, and it takes a lot less disk space, it needs just under 3GB for the moment. Any else here have one running, or seen one in a production environment? I don't think they're very common yet.

Sometime later i noticed that the LAN card (Atheros A8151 PCI-E Ethernet Controller) was not working i went into the adapter settings in network control in the control panel and there was no adapter. i checked the device manager and there was no option called NETWORK ADAPTERS.

The little tray icon next to the clock says I have "Internet access" but Internet Explorer won't load any web pages (it stays on "Website found. I have a Motorola modem and modem is connected to the Netgear router. When I turn my desktop PC on which is connected to the router it shows the local connection is connected, but the Bridge Network cable is unplugged I have no idea what that is and if I need it to be connected to the internet. I called the Comcast service and the lady assistant did not even know what the Bridge cable is and I do not know ether since. I have connected my phone to the laptop, it installs the phone, but cannot find the photos and videos that I have on my phone, even thought there are tons of them.

My HP laptop (Windows Vista, 4-5 five years old) has started to malfunction. I cannot connect to the router attached to my PC. The message tells me that the wireless capability is turned off. It says "Turn on wireless capability - this can be done by using as switch which can usually be found on side of computer or a function key combination." I can find no switch on my laptop, and don't know how which function key combination to press.
