I have a 4g hotspot with no places to connect a cable, etc. I wanted to know if and how i can get a Netgear WGR514 router to pick up the 4G signal. I need this router because I have some other equipment that i need to connect that does not accept wireless signals.

We switched from the wireless USB modems to a wireless hotspot from US Cellular (Samsung SCH-LC11). However, ever since making the switch I've had problems accessing certain websites both on our PC and on my Macbook Pro. I can't connect to Invision Free (or any of its user-created forums) or [URL]. It happens with other, random sites as well. I tried manually changing DNS settings to Google's and another one (don't recall which) and it did allow me to access the site. However, once there, every other site started moving slowly and eventually the ones in question timed out as well.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a T-Mobile hotspot (ZTE) yesterday. It can connect to the T-Mobile network and appears to be working fine. My Wii can connect wirelessly to the the hotspot, but my laptop can only connect to the internet through the USB cord (which it's really not supposed to, because that's supposed to be for charging the device). When I try to connect via wifi to my hotspot, my computer can detect the network. However, after I immediately enter my password, it says that it cannot connect. When I click "Diagnose the problem" it says there was a timeout.I have Windows Vista and one of the tech support people mentioned that Windows Vista sometimes has problems connecting with handshake devices (but he didn't know how to fix it). Another person said I should have about 20 seconds to type in my password, so it shouldn't be timing out so quickly. Is it something with my computer? I have a Compaq Presario CQ60. I had this same problem when I tried to connect to a friend's hotspot a couple weeks ago (I don't remember if it was also T-Mobile or another provider, though).

I've had it almost a year now and have never had trouble connecting to public wifi.Recently, I moved into a new apartment with free wifi and I seem to catch the signal from my apt even though it is poor. Every time I try to connect with my Toshiba it says, "Windows is unable to connect to 'linksys'." However, my husband's HP laptop and my old eMachines laptop (7yr old) (which I am using to research the problem) can connect with absolutely no issues. When I go to the clubhouse, my Toshiba can connect, however it cannot identify the network and does not receive an actual internet connection.

It connects fine with my router WiFi running off DSL. I recently bought an iPhone 4 and set it up as a personal hotspot. I've been able to connect a friend's Macbook to it. Couldn't connect to mobile hotspot but could connect to other networks, none of which were from a phone. When attempting to connect to hotspot, my phone displays the information of my computer as name unknown, IP address 0.0.0.0, but gives a MAC address. Where I live there is no DLS or cable to probide me with Interent access so I use my Verizon 3G/4G smart phone (Android) as a hotspot. Right now I am using an old Vista PC and ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) to provide Interent connectivity to my home network and Cisco lab. This works fine but I must have my smart phone near the PC for it to work. When I go to other rooms, I end up missing calls and texts since I have t oleave the phone if it is providing Inerent access at that time. If I can get the Airnet's to connect to the hot spot AND provide Internet access, that will provide me additional mobility. This would also be good for small businesses as a backup Internet Connection.
Is there any way that I could elimanate the Vista PC and have my Aironet 1231G Wireless router(s) automatically connect to my phone's 3G hotspot to provide Internet access to my lan?

Connect to wireless network > connect router to computer via ethernet cable > Viola, hotspot!
However, in Win7 is this possible? It sees the router as "unidentified public network" and I can't change it. Any registry setting I can change to set the default network connection to "home"?
when i click on connect to network nothing happens. it doesn't do anything, but if i plug in my old router it will connect just fine. It's just the new router

I've reset the box, unplugged, changed the channel via wireless settings. What's next??? I'm quite frustrated and would like to get this to work. The message I get is "activation issue. There was a problem connecting to the Roku server". Argh!! It was working fine with the other wireless modem/router (versalink 327W), but it kept going off (as in the signal would drop and we would have to turn it off/on to get it to work) and connected the netgear router to it today.

I can plug the ethernet cable straight from the modem into my computer and get internet. Unfortunately this only works after I run the windows diagnostic to correct the errors that wont allow me internet access (unable to connect to IP address, lack of DNS server) but eventually I get access. The instruction then tell me to run the ethernet from the modem to the router and then another cable to my computer from the router. When I do this, I lose all internet access. I thought I just had to instal the router using the provided disk but it never gets past the internet connection test.I have tried to provide the correct IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and dns servers like requested but clearly I am messing something up.
