Netgear WN3000RP - Add Wireless Capability To Existing Ethernet Network

Jun 14, 2013

I have an existing Ethernet 100meg LAN and I want to add a wireless capability. I have looked at some products and it is confusing. Range extenders for about 40-50 UK GBP (equiv $65 US). Eg Netgear WN3000RP or WN2000RPT. But they mention extending the range of an existing wireless network?

Wireless :: Netgear WN3000RP Wireless Range Extender Security Setting?

Jan 2, 2012

I have just purchased a Netgear WN3000RP wireless extender. The security setting on all devices on the existing network show as WPA2-PSK wireless n but the extender comes up as WPA-PSK wireless g although the instructions say it will copy existing security settings. There is supposed to be a Netgear website to log on to an installation wizard but this doesn't work and appears not to have worked for some months. Why are Netgear still selling this device without an installation disc when they must know by now that their site doesn't work?Is there any way to alter the security setting of the extender?

Cisco :: Extend Existing Wireless Network Using Ethernet

Jun 9, 2012

I have an 802.11n/g wireless network throughout my house. I also have several ethernet ports. I want to use the ethernet port to connect to the network and extended the existing wireless network (same SSID). I know AirPort devices from Apple can do this but I wanted to know if anything else could as well. It is too slow when I try to wirelessly extend it (not using ethernet at all).

Netgear WNDR4500 - Adding Wireless Router To Existing Network?

Sep 23, 2012

Added a wireless router to our office here so that people with laptops could get on the net without having to physically plug in. Right now it is ok, but the router is acting as it's own DHCP server instead of our server here assigning out the IP's.

The main gripe I have is I can only login to the router through my phone and not through my computer. How can I achieve this. We have multiple offices that all connect through a VPN. I would like our sys admin to access the router at his location as well.

Do I just turn off DHCP on the router and thats it? The model is Netgear WNDR4500.

WN3000RP - Can't Connect To Internet With Netgear Extender

Aug 29, 2012

I bought a Netgear WN3000RP Extender for better wifi range, because on my room upstairs I have no signal at all (so called dead spots) So, I installed it a few months ago and all was working fine, untill we had to leave the house for vancation. Someone in the house pulled the extender out of the electric outlet. A few weeks later we pulled it back in it, but here started the problem: I installed the extender again, but now without any succes. (Just incase you want take a look: [URL]

There are 4 LED lights attached to this extender. 3 of them are lighting, but the 4th won't light at all. LED's: [URL]

I did the exact same procedures as exampled in the installation manual, but nothing worked. I always got this error on the end of the unsuccesful installation: Move the extender closer to the existing router or gateway.

Im really sure the extender is in the range of my actual router!

I've tried everything from restoring to factory defaults to WPS, DPS, disabling security, Nothing works.. I always get stuck on the error. (With WPS I press both the buttons on the extender and the router, but they cant find each other.)

Linksys Access Point :: Configuring WAP54G With Existing Netgear Wireless?

Apr 26, 2013

Having some problems connecting up my "new" AP My current set-up consists of a Netgear "Virgin Superhub" cable modem/wireless router, a ZyXEL WRE2205 (repeater) in the hall on the first floor, and Ethernet connections through to a number of rooms, including the loft. I can't get wireless access in the loft, and I want to put the AP up there, connected through Ethernet. I want to use the same SSID and security for the AP as on the router and repeater so I can roam around(!) That's possible isn't it?What I've done so far (which hasn't worked) is connected via laptop to AP, set AP into AP mode(!), set the AP to dynamic IP, set the SSID / security the same as the router/repeater, plugged the AP into the Ethernet and tried to connect.

Connect A Dir-301 To An Existing Wireless Network?

Jul 4, 2012

I have a DIR-301 router connected to a Virgin cable modem. It provides the Internet to the PC and wirelessly to other devices (like my iPhone, my wife's Android phone and my iBook) with no problems.I recently bought a Sony TV that has an ethernet port on the back. The Sony wireless dongle they offer (UWA-BR100) is stupidly expensive, so I thought I'd try a wired connection via an access point.I bought another DIR-301 from eBay, as it was advertised as an access point which I thought would give the TV an Internet connetion.I've tried everything I can think of and have been advised, but I can't get a connection via the TV.

Netgear Dg834g Unable To Connect Wireless Or With Ethernet Connection

Feb 28, 2011

My dad is using a netgear router DG834G V2 and has no problem until recently. He got a new phone and wanted to connect wirelessly but couldn't remember is network key. After playing around with things he's obviuosley changed something and now has no internet what so ever.

I've tried plugging in the eternet cable and accessing 192.168.0.1 but can't see any problems there. When i am able to get a connection it's local only and Internet explorer can't display web pages. And when i unplug the ethernet cable it doesn't always find the wireless connection, and if it does find it, then i have the same problem as when the lead is plugged in.

His ISP is AOL although he doesn't always access the internet via aol, he'll use IE and i'm trying to get him to give firefox a go.

I have tried disabled both windows firewall and AVG firewall and individually but still keep getting the message internet explorer cannot display webpage.

Extending Existing Wired / Wireless Network?

Jun 8, 2011

I have an existing network in a 300 year old structure. There is a base router from which there are 3 wired (ethernet) lines to parts of the structure. Due to the structure itself (near 2 ft thick walls - masonry) the wireless from the base router reaches only a short distance. I would like to "extend" the wireless reach using those 3 existing runs. So - can I add 3 more routers or should I go with Wireless Access Points or what else would work?

Cisco :: E2000 Wireless AP With Existing Network

Aug 4, 2011

I have been deploying various wireless AP's in my network for years and years.  We have a Cisco network with at least 30 different subnets, and we use EIGRP as our dynamic routing protocol.  I have always wanted our AP's to act like a switch instead of a router.  So I have always disabled DHCP, assigned it a static LAN IP address, and plugged it into my network on one of its 1-4 switchports, and not using the "internet" port.  This goes for all my routers (varying Linksys/Cisco models, and even a couple old Netgears).

I have been realizing lately that once I get an AP build and sent out to the remote location (on a different subnet), I can usually no longer web into it.  I am in the middle of deploying an NPS server to do 802.1x authentication, and I'm realizing that the E2000 I'm using cannot ping or see the NPS server which is on a different subnet.  So, I'm sure I'm missing something. On this E2000, I have disabled the SPI firewall, turned off NAT, enabled dynamic routing, etc.  But I can't ping devices on another subnet from the E2000.  I also can't ping url... or other URL's from the E2000.  It will not resolve them.  (My DNS servers are on another subnet... same subnet as the NPS server). [code] Is there something I'm missing on my wireless APs?  Do I need to configure my Cisco routers to use RIP in addition to EIGRP?
