i have a linksis WRT120N and had to call someone to fix it up to the net modem when i got it but i have upgraded the speed of my net from 256KB to 1MB and now facing the same problem.when i call the net provide they said they dont support 3rd party stuff but told me itd because of conflict between router and modem.
View 1 RepliesWe have an ASA5520 with VPN working fine.We replaced the router, which upgraded the OS from v12.2 to v15.0. We duplicated all the addressing and routing statements from the old router. Now the VPN still connects but the outside host can't ping the inside host anymore. The outside host can't ping any further than the inside interface of the router (10.4.1.1). The Router can ping the outside host, so I know the tunnel is up.I suspect there is a difference in the OS versions that is tripping us up. Perhaps in the way that we have reused the 10.x.x.x address range?

As a comparison I ran several online speed test for both routers. However, All test yielded similar results with minimal improvements. I also downloaded large files utilizing rapidshare's download manager, again with no improvement in download speed. I thought moving from a G to an N router would improve my download speeds. The drivers on the DLink router are current. Are there any tweaks or tricks i can do to increase my download speeds?

(192.168.0.1 -> wireless security -> new pass -> okay -> reboot computer ). After I restarted the computer, the router stopped working. The lights on it are fine, and if I plug the net cable into the computer I have internet too. The problem is, if I plug the cable into the router, I don't have internet. And I can't open 192.168.0.1 either.

If I plug the ethernet cable into the modem I can get on the internet if I plug the cable into the router then nothing. But why would my router randomly stop working, I've had this Linksys Dual N bound router for a year and never had a problem with it. Almost 3 months ago the router stopped working completely and I started to search for support in Uruguay.After calling US support I was told I should contact the local or regional D-Link (which I later found is D-Link LA). And via DLinkLA.com I found the company TELEDATA S.A. url... who does the official support for D-Link in Uruguay. They told me the router couldn't be fixed, and told me DLinkLA, which is based in Chile, would either send me a working one (they also told me the service/warrany was already approved), or send me the money and gave me their contact details.After two weeks of contacting them, trying to get their attention, they finally told me it was not their responsibility because it was bought in the US. I had to go and press the WSL button on the router. I pressed what I though was the WSL button and now my router doesn't work. I has three lights lit up, the power on light, a small green blinking light and an amber light by the number 1.I've gone to the Netgear website and they want $69 for assistance to get my router up and running. I can buy a new router for that much money. There has to be an easier way.

I used another computer to hook up with the ethernet cable because that wouldn't work wireless for some reason. A little while after that, the Linksys network stopped working completely(all three computers could not access the internet). I no longer saw my router listed in my available wireless networks, and neither could my girlfriend from her computer. I unplugged the router to see if one of the available networks had disappeared in case my router had somehow been reset, and nothing changed so my computer isnt even seeing my router. Right now, I am wired through the router so I know the router works, but the wireless part doesnt for some reason. I was looking up stuff in the FAQ, and think the firmware is corrupted since the LEDs are all blinking. I was trying to update my firmware following the instructions I found using tftp.exe, however it failed. One problem is that I can't set up a static IP address since I need to access the web-based utility to check my DNS server but I cannot access the web-based utility anymore (maybe cause of the corrupted firmware?). On a related note, there is someone else in my building using a linksys with the default network name of linksys. I had changed my network's name and security-protected it, though that is all likely gone now since I tried to reset the router. My question is what will the network name of my router be if I saw it since "linksys" is already taken. or will there just be two of them?

Came home after work last night and couldn't connect to the internet. Called Charter cable this morning and their troubleshooting showed I can connect to the internet fine if I bypass the router, so the issue must be with the router (and of course not their problem...). How do I trouble shoot this? I've tried powering down the router and releasing and renewing IP addresses but it hasn't worked.

It wouldn't make that much of a difference, but I already purchased a new LInksys Cisco EA3500, but I cannot get it to do my port forwarding. I have tried everything and nothing works. Have spent hours on the phone with tech support with no solution. My old WRT54GS just simply worked. The port forwarding worked perfect. I have tried the exact same setup in the new EA3500 and no luck no matter what I try.
So, is there anything I can do to get the old WRT54GS working? I have tried holding the reset button in for 1 minute and then unplugging it
