View 16 Replies View Relatedwe have Cisco 6509 as a access switch in our network. Each user has an IP phone and a computer. we are going to implement 802.1X for end users by next month. I need to check all the users activity in the network like if someone plug an access point to the network or a router.I just checked Cisco NAC and how to detect those activities on the network.
I need to get more details on Cisco NAC or other products for that purpose. also what is the difference between Cisco NAC and application like Microsoft TMG?
is it agent less or I have to install something on computers? is it working as a default router for users computers?
I use 802.1x to authenticate the company-network devices - authentication works fine. I do not use dynamic V LAN --> static V LAN-config on 802.1x ports --> authenticated devices have access to the network.
Is it possible to use a guest-V LAN? un authenticated devices should connect to an other v lan than authenticated devices.
One more question: Is MAC-authentication also possible?

I have a 25 meg fiber optic incoming service,so there is plenty of speed and bandwith available to handle these componets.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased an SG300 10 port switch. After reading through many of the threads here, I was finally able to get the different VLANs to route properly. However, I'm having a unique issue that I'm not sure if it's related to the switch or not. I currently have 2 VLANs configured on the switch.ports 1-4 are native vlan 1 (192.168.1.X) ports 5-7 are VLAN 10 192.168.10.X (Trunk Port with VLAN 1 tagged and VLAN 10 untagged)I have a Hyper-V server connected to both of these networks. The VMs are running on both VLANs on port 5. I have the following problem:When I have a domain controller VM on VLAN 10, I notice that many of the DC communications failed. I took a network trace and noticed that many of the RPC port ranges were failing. I am able to ping all of the hosts on VLAN1 and vice versa. My question is as follows:Does this switch have some type of security option that blocks high range ports? I can't seem to find the menu option indicating that this is the case. I have already set-up a NETBIOS UDP proxy, but this hasn't worked much. I still have problems connecting to machines on this VLAN range.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a SG300 switch working in layer 3 mode. I created 3 VLANS and the intervlan communication is working fine. I want to know how to block acces to switch managment from the Vlans. One of the vlan is allowed to access the switch but not the others vlans. What is the best way to implement this? with ACL or with Managment Access Method, creating an access profile?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are experiencing bridge storms and network slow downs and we believe we have traced the issue down to users plugging a cat 5/6 cable between 2 ports on the wall both wired back to a SGE2010 switch.
So we did a test - we plugged a single short cat 6 cable between 2 ports on a SGE2010, our access switch. Suprisingly, even with STP enabled, the switch DID NOT block one of the ports and in a few minutes the ENTIRE NETWORK was down, as CDP, STP, and ARP traffic became a multi-gigabit storm throughout the network.
Why on earth does this switch not block a port that is obviosly looped?
Every other cisco switch since I started on 1900XL's did this in 1999.

Now they are back, the problem is occurring and this time I have as many router settings as I can find to maybe aid in the solution. This is the problem:We have a wireless network where the physical equipment is not available to users and yet, the local network name and password continues to be changed wirelessly FROM say, "ABC network" with network password "ABC secret password" to "Jimmy's Network" and network password "some new string of letters and numbers". View 1 Replies View RelatedI managed to create VLAN 30 (mgmt) and VLAN 888 (blackhole) on this SG 300 switch. Now I've configured ports 1-6 untagged on VLAN 30 and left ports 7-8 untagged in VLAN 1. Port 10 is my uplink to my router, which config looks like this:
interface gigabitethernet10
spanning-tree portfast
spanning-tree guard root
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 30
switchport trunk native vlan 888
If I connect a device into port 7 or 8, I get no IP address from the relevant DHCP server on my router. Thus, I thought I could add VLAN 1 to the trunk, but here's the surprise:
swi01-zg-#configure t
swi01-zg(config)#int gi10
swi01-zg(config-if)#switchport trunk allowed vlan add 1
VLAN 1 : VLAN was not created by user.
