Routers / Switches :: Get Rid Of Remote User That Took Over As Administrator?
Aug 19, 2012
Someone hacked into my computer through my Netgear router. They took over as Administrator and setup a Atheros (sp) driver. They pretty much have total control over my computer. How can I rid myself of this hack and protect nyself in the future?

i have distributed my internet through lan by router .but i think that, that user whom i have gave my net is forwarding to other users too through hub.
I currently have 1 cat 5 jack at my tv/entertainment area and will be needing additional jacks to add gaming consoles, streaming video player and internet ready tv at the same location. The current jack installed at that location is coming from a D-Link 8 port Gigabit switch installed in a different room. The switch is at capacity, all ports are full,so no additional availability there. My question is how to expand port availability at the entertainment area.Is it possible to put another switch or hub at that connection?Would there be a conflict with cascading a switch from one to another? I have a 25 meg fiber optic incoming service,so there is plenty of speed and bandwith available to handle these componets.
Although our usage policy clearly states NO PORN, i'm still catching users watching porn. I'm to the point where i'm going to start shunning mac addresses. Before I do that I would like to first send them a message, like Net Send used to do, warning them to stop.
We have successfully establish a site-to-site vpn, but we have some difficulties when PPTP users try to access the remote network linked by this tunnel. LAN users can access the remote network without problem, but users who are connected remotly to the lan (PPTP) can't access computer on the remote network. Is there a way to allow PPTP user to access the remote network ? Adding a route ?
I am trying to connect to my office PCs via VPN and/or RDP. The office uses Qwest DSL and has a dynamic IP address. I use DynDNS.org to keep the DNS updated with the WAN address of the router. However, any attempt to access the network fails. I have tried remote management access (I enabled it on the router) but that fails. I forwarded RDP ports on the router to one of the PCs but can't connect to it. I also set up a VPN server but cannot connect to it either. Something tells me that all requests to myoffice.homeip.net are not getting to my modem/router. I have even tried the IP associated with the name (Yes, I did check that it is correct!) but nothing works there either.
i have a slow internet but my friend who live canada have high speed internet can use his internet . i do not want use his remote his computer but internet
I have two locations in the same city and I want to connect them together so I can share files and printers. Each of the LANs has a router and is a simple workgroup. LAN A uses 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0; LAN B is 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0. What is the best way to connect these two networks together so I can share printers on both sides? Should I replace the network routers, they are older and definitely could use an upgrade
My boss is asking me to write a batch file or use a utility to monitor the uptime of 16 different ISP accounts that we use across several stores. Most stores have several ISP accounts setup as failover, so they're not always active on our network but the ISP should still be up. He would like this to run from one of our servers. He is suggesting the 'gateway' for the ISP however I am not sure how to find this IP. The tracert utility returns IP addresses which are different than the gateway address in our router settings so I am wary to use those IPs.Which IPs would I ping to monitor the uptime and where would be the best place to find them?

I have a Cisco 678 connected to my ISP (Qwest) using DHCP. This is connected to a Linksys WRT54g router. I also have a home server running for remote access to some files and media streaming. I just installed security cameras that I wish to monitor remotely via the internet.I can access my home files over the internet with no issue. However I am unable to access my cameras using the internet. Looking at my router incoming log, I see my request arriving, but I never get to the DVR attached to the camereas for remote viewing.I enabled bridging on the Cisco 678 but this did not solve the issue.

How do I setup remote login that would allow 3 or 4 people to login to the same computer. Each person would have their own Windows User Account name, with different privileges.I don't know what software could do this. The computer being connected to would be Windows 7, and there is no special network equipment besides a consumer router.

I want to share the My Documents folder from an XP machine with ONLY one user (the administrator) on a networked Win 7 machine. I have turned off simple sharing on the XP machine. I hate XP!! So complicated to do anything. Anyway, under security, I have tried share this folder, and not to share folder. I have gone into Advanced and messed around with permissions, taking out Everyone, using Admin only, using Network. At one point I ended up not being able to access My Documents on the local computer and had to jump through many hoops to change ownership and disable read only so that the user could use her own files! The problem is, under Advanced in the permissions area, I cannot see the users on the remote pc to choose which one should be allowed access. how to actually find a particular user on the Win 7 pc and give ONLY that user permission to read (not to change) the files in My Documents on the XP pc.

I have a client that wants to segment their wireless network behind their ASA. We currently have a normal setup, 5510, 2 interfaces, outside, inside. On the inside network there are Cisco Wireless APs that allow for internal access to the network. We want to move the APs to a new interface on the ASA and only allow traffic bettwen this new "Wireless" network and the internal network by using remote user VPN. So my question is, can you use remote user VPN from the new Wireless network to the inside network??
I am currently trying to decide on the best remote support software to purchase for a 50+ workstation business. I have experimented with Real VNC and TeamViewer, and whilst they are quite comparable I noticed that TeamViewer has a feature called "Seamless Windows" I will be providing remote support to local users, and several interstate branches - therefore the software that I decide on must accommodate a wide diversity of geographical locations.I was also looking at a product called GoverLAN, but it seems to me that GoverLAN only works on a single LAN and can't be used over a WAN in a similar way to both RealVNC & TeamViewer?

I have a 3845 router (12.4(13r)T10) with ZBF. On my LAN there is a user who need to access a remote IPSEC VPN server. He is able to get the tunnel but afterwards he cannot connect to any service in the remote LAN. As I'm using zbf I think that I should inspect traffic from my LAN zone to EXT zone, There is a document that describe a solution to this? What IP adressess should I use?
