Cisco Firewall :: 3845 - Allow Local User Access To Remote VPN
Oct 3, 2011
I have a 3845 router (12.4(13r)T10) with ZBF. On my LAN there is a user who need to access a remote IPSEC VPN server. He is able to get the tunnel but afterwards he cannot connect to any service in the remote LAN. As I'm using zbf I think that I should inspect traffic from my LAN zone to EXT zone

As I'm using zbf I think that I should inspect traffic from my LAN zone to EXT zone, There is a document that describe a solution to this? What IP adressess should I use?
I would like to create a additional user vpn on a 55010 where the user authenticates with the firewall and not the radius server. This user should NOT be able to log on to the firewall, but only be able to authenticates with the vpn client.I'm correct that the command "username abc123 password abc234 privilege 0" ?Also for this remote vpn how to I make sure the user only authencates with this password?
I want to limit a local user's access to some specific groups of devices. In Role Management Setup I can define which service they can access, but I want to restrict it to a specific device as well.
I have FWSM's in Cat 6513's. I have a need to be able to session from the switch to the FWSM by using default account (not local user), at privilege level 15 I further have a need to allow a user read only access by ssh'n into the FWSM...
I believe I need to setup a local user, at, say privilege level 5, assign the show command only to privilege level 5, then set the authorization command for that user. So, i think my command sets are as follows to accomplish this: username <username> password <pw> priv 5 priv command level 5 mode exec command show aaa auth ssh console LOCAL aaa auth enable console LOCAL aaa authorization command LOCAL
I think, that this will allow the user at privilege 5 to run only the show command and only by SSH to the FWSM while allow the priv 15 level default login to continue to function properly.
ip local pool VPNPOOL 192.168.200.1-192.168.200.100.
i can access servers with remote vpn which they located at dmz zone at asa(write nonat access-lsit) but i can not 192.168.193.0 subnet at asa.i configurated proxy server. my proxy server inside interface get ip address my dmz zone(172.16.10.254) and outside is ip adddress asa outside interface (10.0.0.254).the users (192.168.193.0/24) go internet from proxy server.
i have a problem with my asa 5505 Remote VPN Connection with local network access , the VPn is working fine and connected , but the problem is i can't reach my inside network connection of 192.168.30.x , here is my configuration
At first I use ACS 4.2 to create static ip address user for remote access VPN,It's easy, just configuration it at user set>Client IP Address Assignment>Assign static IP address, but when I use ACS 5.2 I can't find it.I try to add IPv4 address attribute to user by read "ACS 5.2 user guide" ,it says this: [code] I do this, but it's not work. When I use EasyVPN client to connect ASA 5520,user could through authentication but will not get that static IP address which I configuration on Internal Users.so,what should I do,if anyboby knows how to use ACS 5.2 to create a static ip address user for remote access VPN.
Our customer has an ASA5520 Security appliance, I have already config the remote vpn in asa , user can logon via internet by vpn client and can access internal network, customer hope us can make some configuration if the remote user logon asa by vpn and notify them someone login their vpn by email .
I have configured vpn filtering on all my l2l vpns. I have restricted access from remote to local resources only to specified ports. It works perfectly. But I want to have also full access from local to remote networks (but still preserve restricted access from remote to local). As I now VPN Filter works bi-directional with a single ACL. So is there some way to open all traffic from local to remote and still restrict remote to local traffic? ASA 5520 8.4(3)
At first I use ACS 4.2 to create static ip address user for remote access VPN,It's easy, just configuration it at user set>Client IP Address Assignment>Assign static IP address, but when I use ACS 5.2 I dont't know how to do it.
I try to add IPv4 address attribute to user by read "ACS 5.2 user guide" ,it says this:
Step 1Add a static IP attribute to internal user attribute dictionary: Step 2Select System Administration > Configuration > Dictionaries > Identity > Internal Users. Step 3Click Create. Step 4Add static IP attribute. Step 5Select Users and Identity Stores > Internal Identity Stores > Users. Step 6Click Create. Step 7Edit the static IP attribute of the user.
I just do it,but it's not work. When I use EasyVPN client to connect ASA 5520,user could success to authentication but will not get the static IP address which I configure on Internal Users,so the tunnel set up failed.I try to Configure a IP pool on ASA for ACS users get IP address, and use EasyVPN client to connect ASA , everything is OK,user authenticate successed.but when I kill IP pool coufigurations and use the "add a static IP address to user "configurations,EzVPN are failed. how to use ACS 5.2 to create a static ip address user for remote access VPN?
I am configuring remote access vpn on ASA5505.Everything is working fine so far, except when the client got connected, it still used the local DNS server provided by the ISP. How do I force the client to use the DNS server configured on ASA?
ASA 5510 ASA 8.0 ASDM 6.1 I want some remote users to have split-tunnel connection, others not. I used Cisco Document ID 100936 "Allow Split Tunneling for AnyConnect VPN Client on the ASA Configuration...". I created a new Group Policy with split-tunnel enabled. I created a new Connection Profile and assigned to it the new Group Policy. When I authenticate at the AnyConnect client I get a dropdown of the 2 connecton profiles, to choose the one I want. Each of them works, enabling or disabling split-tunnel. But I want to assign a connection profile to the particular user, not give the user a choice. The problem is I'm using LDAP authentication. The Local Users I set up before LDAP are obsolete, assigning them a Group Policy does nothing. I really don't want to give up LDAP and force people back to another local password. But the LDAP authentication to Active Directory just says yes or no, it won't assign a connection profile. At the AnyConnect Connection Profiles page I have set a switch "Allow user to select connection profile, identified by its alias, on the login page. Otherwise, DefaultWebVPNGroup will be the connection profile". If I clear that switch every user will be assigned the same default profile, which does not work.
I got a new Cisco 3845 under my adminsitration. For some special events I do automated actions (e-mail's) from Cisco Works 2000.
One is if power supply fails. Problem now is, tha a ps fail message will be repeated every 20 seconds to syslog server - but local log on router only once.
We want to use cisco 3845 and pick up IPSec, with remote side. But I am afraid that cisco 3845 can't handle 155 Mbits over IPsec. We will buy AIM- VPN/ SSL3 card. Is this sufficient?
We currently have one Cisco ASA 5510 firewall at our mailn office. Our firewall does not let users access the internet. We currently have a web proxy that lets users access this. I need to let users access one website through the firewall without going through the firewall. I believe this is possible if I use dynamic NAT.
We've just replaced our Fortinet Firewalls with 5525's but are struggling to get a feature working that worked great on the Fortinet firewall. All our users use a proxy for internet access that's configured in IE but from time to time some users need to remove this proxy and go directly out to the internet, with the Fortinet devices we created a rule right at the bottom of the inside access out rule that had it authenticate users via TACACS which worked a treat and could be used from PC or laptop. We want to do a similar thing on the 5525 and I thought the Authenticated user would give me this access but I don't seem to be able to get it to work. I've got the AD side of it working fine the ASA can pull user and groups from AD but I'm struggling to get this working for a user.
I tried the solution posted at [URL] however it did not work on my ASA5505 8.4(2). I thought that it may be because I only have a single public address so the web server is responding to port forwarding through the one public IP already. looking in ASDM it appears to indicate that a configured access list is blocking the server from responding to the internal hosts.
Can I fix an access list (or something) to make this work or am I wishing for too much with only one public IP? This worked by default on my Netgear firewall.
I need configuring RDP access to my local server from a remote location on my Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall.I have attempted to configure rdp access but it does not seem to be working for me. How to modify my current configuration to allow this? I need to allow the following IP addresses to have RDP access to my server: [code] The other server shows up as 99.89.69.334 but is working fine.
I already added one server for Static route and RDP but when I try to put in same commands it doesnt allow me to for this new one. My configuration file and what are the commands i need in order to put this through. Also, if there are any bad/conflicting entries. Also I have modified IP information so that its not the ACTUAL ip info for my server/network etc... lol for security reasons of course. Also the bolded lines are the modifications I made but that arent working. [code]
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 in my home office which has a few PCs behind it with a linux web server running some websites. I can access the websites from outside no problem (i.e. on my iPhone using a 3G connection). However, I struggle to access the websites from within the network. The ASA gives me this error: [code]
I want to have a local user in ACS that is permitted to login to routers. I have TACACS with AD already working but cannot get a local user to work. I used to do this in ACS 4.x.I created a user in the internal identity store.I tried configuring a policy to allow this users TACACS authentication multiple ways to no avail. I cannot find a config example doc and cannot figure it out from the user guide as the documention is sorely lacking.
We are running ACS 5.2 patch 6 and want to restrict access for users to be able to add devices to the system. For example, admin person in site A can only add devices into the site A group and cannot see/access other sites groups.
We are using an ASA 5510 and remote access (SSL VPN) using the AnyConnect client.
Is it possible to display a user message when a user connects using the AnyConnect client, matching a specific dynamic access policy? Can the message be displayed when the action is "Continue" rather than "Terminate"? I can't seem to get this to work and wondered if there was a LUA function to do this.
We have a DAP which gives a restricted ACL when the user's anti-virus is out of date, and I wanted to notify the user to update their anti-virus and reconnect.
I have a remote access VPN to our office network 10.42.10.0. however I have some web services that are located in a production network 10.42.1.0 that users in the office network need to access. This is obviously no problem when using remote desktop to an office PC but when users with laptops remote in and try to access the website on the production network it does not work.
Is there any way for the tunnel also to also allow traffic to the production network for the remote hosts?
A quick query regarding setting up a local user on a Cisco 2811. I have setup a few users as they need to have remote VPN access into our edge router, this works fine and I'm happy with it. The only thing is that when they come into the office they now have logins to get onto the router, they do not have the enable secret so they can't exactly do a lot (plus I've created them with privilege 0 which cuts a few extra CLI options) but I'd rather not allow them access at all if possible. If they weren't on DHCP then I could setup an access-list but this isn't really an option, I could also set me up statically and deny everyone else, but yet again I'd rather not.Is there anyway to restrict telnet/ssh access based on user alone? So when they put in their login it just boots them out. I could setup something like RADIUS (and therefore remove the local users completely) but I think it will be a bit over kill for the sake of a couple of users.
how I can assign a static IP to a user in ACS 5.2. I am able to do it in ACS 4.2, but I don't see the same options under 5.2. General idea is that users authenticate from our VPN appliance via RADIUS, and upon authentication, their static IP is passed back to the VPN device. I can attach an arbitrary field to my local users by going to System Administration -> Configuration -> Dictionaries -> Identity -> Internal Users, but how do I get that IP address passed back when the user is authenticated via Radius?
We are wanting to use local database users to authenticate our SSH connections to our 6500 cores.
We have added the usernames and password into the 6500 using
username anameduser password astrongpassword or username anameduser secret astrongpassword
We where expecting the commands to be the same as other iOS devices example C3750 we would add.
Line vty 0 4 login local
And this would allow us to use the local user database to authenticate our ssh sessions.
The login local commands are not availbe on the 6500s and we have not found any documentation on how to impliment a local database for this purpose except in a CatOS 6500.
I know the way to configure the ASA to fallback to LOCAL authentication, if the Radius server is not available.
Now we would like to authenticate the local users, if the user is not found in the AD. Is this possible and how can I configure this with the new policies? I tested it with "dropping" when the user is not found in the AD, but then the Radius server will be marked as "dead" and the other AD users can't login for a given period. Maybe we can configure the dead time to 0, but this is not as nice it could be.
