Just bought myself an 825. I've got it set up and working, but how do I prevent wireless users from accessing the setup pages for the router?
I only wish wired access to the setup pages. I'm used to doing this on my old linksys, but can't find the setting on the new router.

We have blocked some sites in router which our user cannot access and it gets them default browser message "pages cannot be displayed". But I want to display pages like "You are trying to access unauthorized website" or something like that when they try to open such websites.

I use 802.1x to authenticate the company-network devices - authentication works fine. I do not use dynamic V LAN --> static V LAN-config on 802.1x ports --> authenticated devices have access to the network.
Is it possible to use a guest-V LAN? un authenticated devices should connect to an other v lan than authenticated devices.
One more question: Is MAC-authentication also possible?

I seted up router and i coud acces the utility window, then i switced from w7x32 to w7x64 and then i try to acces the utility window i can only see.Username or Password is incorrect. Is the "Caps Lock" enabled on your keyboard? The username and password must be lowercase, please ensure that the "Caps Lock" LED is disabled on your keyboard and try again.Forgot your username or password? Please reset the device to the factory default settings if you have forgotten your username or password. The default username and password are both set as "admin". The settings will be restored to factory default after the resetting.
How to restore the device to the factory default settings?Firstly locate the reset button on the rear panel of the unit, whilst the device is powered on press and hold the reset button for more than 5 seconds, the device will then reboot and restore itself to the factory default settings.no pop up window appears i tried looking this up and the closest thing i found was to un-check the proxy but its not checked so what should i do to be able to access utility window?

The other is a Gateway w34OUI running XP Media Center. Both are in great condition for their ages. Good for them. I really want to network the two with an RJ45 crossover cable, and all the instructions I've found on our illustrious internet tell me it's easy. HOWEVER, when I've only begun to follow those instructions (one list is from the God Microsoft itself), NONE OF ANY of the sets of instructions matches the steps offered on either one of these notebooks. The options do not correspond. The results do not correspond. The closest I get is a window that says I do not have access to such file sharing. These are MY computers, and have always been, and I am attempting to network using administrator ID logins on BOTH. What's the REAL way to network only two notebooks with an RJ45 crossover cable?

At the core of my network I have two Nexus 5548's with the routing/L3 daughter installed. They have a default route that points to my ASA 5520 for Internet access. I have configured a VLAN that I do not want to have access to the Internet. What is the best way of preventing this access? ACL on the Nexus or Firewall rules on the ASA?

We have 9 WLCs around a corporate network. Each of the WLCs was in the same mobility group for failover purposes, and to permit APs to reconnect back to their primary WLC in the event of a failover.
However one of the sites has now been sold and pending separation of the LAN infrastructure the APs need to be isolated and prevented from associating with any WLC other than their primary (on site). From our experience once the APs know about other WLCs they retain this list in NVRAM even if the secondary WLC is removed from the configuration they will still associate with one of the known APs if possible (Cisco document this). In short, I had the following problem in the past but it solved itself when people physically left the area. Now they are back, the problem is occurring and this time I have as many router settings as I can find to maybe aid in the solution. This is the problem:We have a wireless network where the physical equipment is not available to users and yet, the local network name and password continues to be changed wirelessly FROM say, "ABC network" with network password "ABC secret password" to "Jimmy's Network" and network password "some new string of letters and numbers". (we know who Jimmy is but will not approach him until we learn if this situation is inadvertent on his part or more purposeful, which we doubt as of now)Cisco Lynksys Wireless-N Home Router WRT120N[CODE]

I have a Cisco 5520 cluster and Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client 3.0.5080. I eventually want to connact by means of a Smard Card and I was able to connect a view weeks ago. Now I am hastled by the error Logon denied, unauthorized connection mechanism, contact your administrator. Well that's me and a do not know anymore where to look on the Asa. I thought it had something to do with the authentication method, but AAA (AD or Local), nor cetificates is now working.
Cisco's solution...:
Error: "Login Denied , unauthorized connection mechanism , contact your administrator"
AnyConnect clients are failing to connect to a Cisco ASA. The error in the AnyConnect window is "Login Denied , unauthorized connection mechanism , contact your administrator".

Im using window 7 64x with Netgear WND R3300 router to connect to internet. I bought 1 PCIe wireless adapter card [URL]and 1 USB wireless adapter ( Mini wireless N speed USB adapter) [URL]
They both said to be compatible with window 7 64x. They do, however, i CAN NOT see any of the N-wireless. The NETGEAR WND R3300 create 2 wireless connection ( one is G and the other is N). My computer is always able to detect the G-wireless but it can never detect the N wireless ( THERE IS NO N-wireless connection in the Available network board). I tried to update driver and everything but it seems hopeless. This is a new built desktop by the way.
I was able to detect the N wireless with my macbookpro; however, when i switched to window 7 on that macbook, i couldnt see the N wireless as well. So, i thought it has something to do with window 7 since all drivers are up to date. My G-wireless is really really slow ( about 2 mbps) while the N is around 16 mbps. My work requires high speed internet.

Dropped VPN connections.I experienced a similar issue a few years ago with my LinkSys WRT54G router with dropped connections to my corporate network using the Cisco VPN Client. To make a long story short the problem was the result of the following:
1. The default ""Client Lease Time" on LinkSys routers is 0 which means 1 day or 24 hours.
2. By DHCP Protocol definition, DHCP clients must renew the DHCP client IP address lease at the 1/2 life cycle of the lease (12 hours if using the router's default setting). This is deadly for VPN clients as the short period of time when the client IP address is no longer valid, the VPN client considers this a loss of network connection. The LinkSys E-series routers further aggravate the situation by randomly assigning new IP addresses to DHCP clients instead of reassigning the client's previous IP address and tends to favor higher host IP addresses in the defined range.
Suggestions to prevent lost VPN client connections:
1. Change the "Client Lease Time" on the router to 8640 minutes (6 days 00:00:00).
2. Prior to establishing a VPN client connection, use the Windows Command Prompt to issue the "ipconfig /renew"
command to obtain a new IP address from the router that will be good for 3 days (72 hours).
3. Configure your E-series router to use the <DHCP Reservation> option to pre-assign IP addresses to your systems making sure they are outside the range of the dynamically assigned DHCP addresses. Using default settings, these would be in the range of 192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 as the router starts at 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149.

I've tried to connect the usb adapter with an Acer Aspire 7736ZG, installed with Windows 7 64bit edition. Well, I *can't*.
- I started the CD installation and when prompted, I've connected the USB stick. Well, the stick couldn't be detected, and the installation couldn't continue.
- Then, I used the Windows7 drivers and managed to install the device (device manager, sees the device normally). But, the CD still couldn't continue the installation of extra software.
- Ok, no linksys software - no big deal. I would use the Windosw wireless management program. NO! The card seems not be present, and the only wireless connections I get, is by the onboard 802.11n card of the laptop (don't ask why I bought an extra 802.11n card).
- Nothing happens by disabling the onboard 802.11n card and trying all over again.
- If I go to the connection and sharing center and select "change setting of adapter", well, my expensive and cisco-super-duper card, isn't there, and I can only find the Atheros ARB93 Wireless card and the local (wired) adapter.
So, to sum up, 64bit driver seems to be installed correctly on the device manager (as proposed on other threads) but the adapter is not present on the system. How cool is that?

we have Cisco 6509 as a access switch in our network. Each user has an IP phone and a computer. we are going to implement 802.1X for end users by next month. I need to check all the users activity in the network like if someone plug an access point to the network or a router.I just checked Cisco NAC and how to detect those activities on the network.
I need to get more details on Cisco NAC or other products for that purpose. also what is the difference between Cisco NAC and application like Microsoft TMG?
is it agent less or I have to install something on computers? is it working as a default router for users computers?

I have DSL with a Westell 6200 modem configured to a Linksys wtr310N router. I configured "Bridge Mode" on the modem and configured the Linksys with PPPoE. When I try to log in with my laptop running XP I am connected and everything works great. I also can connect wired to my Windows 7 laptop but I can't connect using wireless. Are there any tricks to make this work on Windows 7? Do I have to set up a new Broadband connection? How does my laptop connect to my linksys router?

We purchased an EA6500 to take the place of the router function of a Verizon Westell 7500. We bridged the Westell, installed and set up the EA6500 and everything seems fine.
What is strange is that some devices on the network (our server, user PC, a NAS that isn't part of the domain) while accessible if you navigate to them via \ do not appear in the Network window.
This of course is causing issues for some users who don't or won't map network drives.
At first I thought this may be an issue related to us having some of our network devices with static IP addresses so we switched them over to dynamic - no change in the network window.
we will have to return this router and get a different brand/model if it won't work in this fashion.

Last week I purchased the E4200 and for simplicity, I configured it with basic settings using Cisco Connect. Today, I went into the web interface. The only thing I did was review settings and get the Routers PIN (it appears that Intel Chipset cards on Windows requires this PIN?) Close the browser (did not save any settings) and now I am completely locked out of the device. Cannot connect does not accept the wireless password. I hard reset the device, ran through the wizard. Everything was working again. Launch the browser and connected to the device closing window and balm?
