Servers :: Remote Desktop Can't Connect?
Aug 23, 2011Remote Desktop can't connect, so I've got four servers in the same LAN. Whenever I try remotly access the web server, the message (Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: 1. Remote access to the server is not enable. 2. The remote computer is turned off. 3. The remote computer is not available on the network) The thing is that I can connect to all servers with any desktop computer in the network, but when I try to do it in my laptop (that is connected to the same LAN) I've got access to the other servers but not to the web server. Sometimes I had to restart this server and works fine for a little while.

All I could find from Microsoft support site refer to the server side configuration. But I know problem isn't with server, because I am able to connect from another PC (notebook running windows 7 with wireless connection). It is working straightforward with default settings.

Oct 26, 2011Users are connecting to Site A (PIX 515e) via Cisco VPN client and can access servers/resources within that site no problem. They cannot access anything within Site B (ASA 5505) however. Devices communicating between Site A and Site B have no issues (have site to site VPN configured). I'm assuming that I'm missing something in configuration - or is it not possible for VPN clients connected to the PIX firewall and access data on the other network?

Here is the problem, I cannot ping any of the servers or workstations after I successfully connect. I can ping the ASA 5510 using its internal LAN IP, but no other nodes will respond on the remote LAN.

I have a Sony VAio laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,a Macbook with 10.6.8, and a new Asus Transformer Prime with ICS.My work desktop is a Dell Optiplex 380 with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I frequently work from home and have no issues remoting into to my work PC from by Sony laptop via VPN and RDP.However I have never been able to connect successfully to my work PC with my Macbook(using Remote Desktop Connection 2.1 for Mac OS) or Asus tablet(using WYSE Pocket Cloud RDP app for Android). I can however connect to the VPN itself on the Macbook and tablet without issue same as my Windows laptop. The other interesting part is I can connect via RDP when I am connected to a Mi-Fi 3g hotspot. So it is definitely something in the my Linksys E2000 blocking the connection for some reason. I have even set Port forwarding of 3389 with the ip's of both the Macbook and Asus tablet.I have also tried connecting via ethernet to the router with the same outcome. I cannot ping my work pc from either device as well.In addition the firewall on my work PC is completely disabled and all services related to Remote desktop access are enabled and running.

Jan 4, 2011I'm relatively competent with adding new hardware to an existing network but I am not sure how to do something a little more complicated. I have a small business server that hosts 6 computers via wired network. We run a cable from the main office across the lot to the shop where it connects to a wireless enabled router. The router is wired to two more PCs and hosts 1 laptop wirelessly. I would like to two PCs to be able to connect to the server and access all the common files stored in the server drive - how do I get the PCs to see the server and not just the router/each other? I don't need the laptop to connect to the server, but we do need to wireless router to connect the laptop to the internet.

Those and a win xp machine are all hooked up to a switch, and the win xp machine also has a wireless usb stick that is connected to my wireless router, and is being used to share internet to the rest of the machines. The test servers along with the NIC card on my win xp machine sit on a different subnet, however.When I remote into the win xp machine from my house, i can run a second remote desktop in the first session, into any of my servers. I want to do work on them, but its very laggy.
Is there a way I can setup a port either on the win xp machine or my wireless router so that i can remote directly into one of the servers? so if the win xp machine has a wireless ip address of 192.16.13.102, and one of the servers on the 2nd subnet has an internal ip of 192.2.2.4, can i have it so i can make, for instance, 192.16.13.102:6333 forward to 192.2.2.4? If not, is there any other way i can directly remote into one of the servers, by passing the first remote desktop into win xp? What settings would have to be the same across the line?
