Network Setup For An Internet Cafe
Aug 20, 2011Customer wants a network set up for an Internet cafe business..Broadband line is active, 1 Server + 9 PCs are waiting to be used, 2 switches have been ordered and of course cabling.If all computers are identical I will install and configure it with all that is need then clone the drive to the other PCs (I know what needs to be done in terms on the PCs e.g XP Pro/Office 2007/AntiVirus)I will be using this free Net cafe software, if you know a better and easier one to use that would be great:Internet cafe software by CyberCafePro
So my mine concern is the the networking configuration itself I know that the PCs have to given workgroups that's easy but in terms on the netgear router will it router the connection automatically as will the switches?Like I said its the small things that will be a pain, I know the job of switches is to automatically router the data.

However, I need to share a printer amongst all of the computers. The printer is LAN enabled and I would normally just put all the PCs on a hub, together with the printer and share it that way. BUT my question is can we access the internet using the wireless network and the printer using a separate wired network at the same time?

Jan 25, 2011I use my desktop for streaming media throughout the house. I found it was causing lag for gaming most likely because it was taking up all the bandwidth for the router. We had a 2nd router laying around as well as a 2nd wireless adapter so we set up a 2nd network that was not connected to the internet for strictly media streaming.I attempted to change the network settings so the internet connection appeared as a public network so that streaming of media was hopefully diverted to the non internet wireless adapter.I want a faster way of transferring large video files from my laptop to my desktop. I recently bought a crossover cable to do this through direct connection.Both use the same user name and password as well as run the same win 7 pro however the desktop is the 64 bit version. I set up both ipv4 with the same addresses.When it has worked I am only getting a connection speed of just over 10mb and once I connect the crossover cable between the computers it knocks out my internet connection on the wireless card.

Jun 30, 2011I have been using a laptop to stream videos through my xbox for over 2years until recently. I setup a wireless network in the house to do this. All was fine until 3 days ago.I use a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7. I have a Dell Wireless 1397 Minicard, a cisco router (model #2425). Since my laptop was infected by Malware, my network has not worked since. I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti Malware to get rid of it and it appeared to work. I got internet access back. However, I still cannot connect to my network (visible in the Available Network list as normal) or stream any media.Windows Media Centre also has stopped opening and gives me the small box saying 'windows is checking for a solution', then closes with nothing. I can however open WMC if I right click and 'run as administrator'?! I have disabled all other network adaptors, only the Dell minicad is enabled and also tried disabling and enabling this main one with no effect. All problems point to the fact that my laptop can no longer connect to the home network but I cant figure out why?!Another (possibly unrelated) problem is occuring at boot up where I get an error message saying 'Bluetooth Software License not found. [2]' - Again this never happened before the Malware infection.

Ive basically been on the internet for the past two days trying all the solutions. Including refreshing and renewing my ip, trying a static ip (although, Im still not sure if I did this step correctly) Ive tried disabling IPV6, Ive tried adjusting my speedflux. The problem is also intermittent with seemingly no reason whatsoever, some days Ill go without internet for the entire day, then the next day Ill boot up my computer and Ill have internet again. It should be noted that when I enable WIRELESS on my laptop, Im able to connect to the network, but when I enable wired, I am not able to.
Here is the ipconfig /all for when Im connected wirelessly and have a connection.

It should be noted that I am using powerline adapters for my connection, but as I said, this problem only recently started cropping up. I went fine for almost a week with no problems, then all of a sudden it started happening. Im still able to connect wirelessly so its not too much of an issue, but I prefer via Ethernet..

Apr 11, 2012about 7 pcs on the network all using Windows 7 32bit. Switch - Router all wired
They are all connected to the network fine but one of them gets cut off from the internet sometimes and starts back up randomly. I changed to different ports on the switch same issue I didnt have the time to fully check it but Im gonna go back tomorrow my best guess is that its the wire but any other possibilities that may cause this I would like to know before I go if at all possible.

I recently had to reinstall windows 7 on my first pc, and It seems i cant get internet to work on my second pc. The computers can ping each other, and my second pc shows as "connected", yet has no connection to the internet (and cannot ping to anywhere, cept my first pc). My second pc is running windows XP and before I reinstalled the first PC's windows everything was fine, and I didnt change anything on my second pc either (well, changed everything back anyway). IP configs seem to be fine.
