View 2 Replies View RelatedCustomer wants a network set up for an Internet cafe business..Broadband line is active, 1 Server + 9 PCs are waiting to be used, 2 switches have been ordered and of course cabling. If all computers are identical I will install and configure it with all that is need then clone the drive to the other PCs (I know what needs to be done in terms on the PCs e.g XP Pro/Office 2007/AntiVirus)I will be using this free Net cafe software, if you know a better and easier one to use that would be great:Internet cafe software by CyberCafePro
So my mine concern is the the networking configuration itself I know that the PCs have to given workgroups that's easy but in terms on the netgear router will it router the connection automatically as will the switches?Like I said its the small things that will be a pain, I know the job of switches is to automatically router the data.
Recently returned from a holiday where thee were various free wifi hotspots. Some needed a password which the cafe just gave you if you asked, others were open. My laptop connected without any problems at all these places except one. Other people at the same cafe did not have any problems but mine would not connect - kept receiving messages about certificates. The cafe owner even tried and could not connect to my laptop. My laptop found the signal okay..

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to configure a wired guest network with a combination of 5508 and 2504 wireless controllers? I am aware that the 2504 does not have wired guest functionality, however is it possible to set up a wired guest on the 5508 and using mobility anchors, transmit the l2 information through eoip to communicate with the remote vlan?Home built NAC solution, using 802.1x authentication on switchports for public areas. If user is an employee, communicates with the supplicant on their machine, and places them on an internal vlan.If user is a guest, user fails 802.1x check and is placed on a "guest" vlan with an ACL and external DNS.If placed on the guest vlan, the user has to accept a terms of use form. This is working currently with our 5508s without any issue, however we have some remote offices we'd like to roll this out to that are using 2504 controllers. I'm hoping there's a way that I can use the 5508 as an anchor or vice versa to make this work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 4200 Wireless Router connected directly to my cable modem. To extend the wireless range I purchased a Cisco 2500 Wireless Router. As the house is "wired," I can connect the Cisco 2500 to the cable modem in a room separate from the Cisco 4200. My question is how do I configure the Cisco 2500 to connect to the network and provide wireless coverage from both routers.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe situation is Main house running Linksys EA4200, I have a garage apartment rental that is to far away to receive the wireless guest network.I ran a cat5e to the apartment, can I configure the EA4200 to allow the WAP54G access point to use the guest network? I want to prevent my renters from having access to the home network, but just have basic internet access separate/outside my network.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had several Linksys and Cisco routers in the past, and I'm a network engineer. My E3000 died after only 18 months so I had to run down and buy a new router, thus the EA4500.
I use the manual way to configure all my network gear. Nothing on my network changed, except the router replacement. If I leave the router default address at the 192 range, DHCP will issue a IP address. However, I do not use that range and after cdhanging the range, setting my start IP address, etc, I save everything and even tried rebooting the router to no avail. The router will not issue a DHCP addrss if you change the default range.
I can manually configure my clients with a static IP and all is good, no issues at all. I just can't get DHCP to work. My E3000 was configured exactly the same way and worked just fine, well up until two days ago.I have tried upgrading to the latest router firmware, so I'm not on 2.0.37 and I did set the router back to Factory Defaults, rebooted, then configured it, and still no DCHP.
