I use connectify to set a hotspot to connect my ipad. everything worked perfectly with my previous computer but since I switched to an alienware m11X I have network problems. I have lost and delayed data (OSC messages). I monitor them with puredata so I'm 100% sure the delay comes from the network and not the soft I use for performance. how should I configure my network so it's optimized for such use (no data loss or abnormal delay)

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy first time attempting this so excuse my wrong use of terms..i believe its load balancing...new company site is going to have 2 separate connections:
con 1: 15 up/2 down coax connection
con 2: 6 up/ 6 down dish
con 1 needs to simply have http and https traffic.
con 2 will have security surveillance, SNMP, and VoIP (PBX)
the hardware i know that will be at that location when i fly up there is a Sonicwall TZ210 and a 48-port Netgear gigabit...where do i start?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a bit of an unusual networking situation here in my home and need proper configuration, so I stop losing my web connection on a daily basis. The reason I'm forced to have the 2nd router is that my wife telecommutes and the 1st (primary router) is provided by her company. For whatever reasons, her company will not allow the wireless radio in their router to be turned ON - which forces me to add the 2nd wireless router for our 3 computers that require wireless access.
1 - Since the primary router has DHCP enabled, I am assuming that I should Disable DHCP on my wireless router. Am I correct?
2 - What other settings on the wireless router do I need to pay particular attention to in this situation?

In my house I have a BT Business Hub wireless router at one end of my house. I am looking to extend the wireless range of my network into the kitchen at the other end of the house, which is a rather large distance away. The house is 200 years old with large corridors and thick walls. There is absolutely no wireless range from about halfway between the office and kitchen. I initially tried two powerline adapters which did not work. Having spoken with an electrician who carried out a rewire on the house, I have been advised that the two areas are on a separate ring main.I considered using two wireless range extenders, but have been told that the signal is halved for each extender that I use.So, I have had the idea of trying to use two DSL routers at each side of the house. There is a phone point in the office and also in the kitchen, where the second router would plug into. These are both on the same telephone line.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have several branch offices that only have a Cisco ASA 5505 connecting clients to the Internet, our main office and other networks. Some of the branch offices uses Site-to-Site VPN to connect to our main Office, other uses a VPN-service delivered by our ISP.
The networking is working fine, but we are having problems with figuring out how to handle dns lookups. I see that the ASA DNS Client can use conditional DNS forwarding, but it cannot act as a DNS server for our clients on the inside network.
We want to do the following:
- Default dns quires should use the DNS servers for the site's local ISP (some sites also uses dual ISP, so we are using DNS1 and DNS2)
- The domain name: company.local should use our main office DNS server (acces by Site-to-Site VPN or our ISP's VPN)
- The domain name: sitea.company.local should use our SiteA DNS server (acces by Site-to-Site VPN or our ISP's VPN)
etc...
We have solved the issue by using Windows DNS server's conditional forwarding for the branch offices that has a local Windows 2008 domain controller.

I have two Windows7 machines (PC and laptop). I've set PC as VPN server and laptop as VPN client using default built-in W7 network tools. I've disabled use default gateway in remote network on client machine, so client don't try to route all communication through VPN. I've routed port 1723 (TCP/UDP) on NAT to my server and enabled IPSec/PPTP/L2TP passthrough
I've put my laptop in indepedent network (basically I've connected it via 3G network), connected to VPN server and checked ipconfig /all
I've get:
IP Address: 192.168.1.101
Mask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: (none)
LAN mask in server LAN network is 255.255.255.0 - I am surely missing something obvious, but Google doesn't give me any good advices; How can I access local LAN network from remote VPN client? How can I access local shared documents?
I've had a Linksys WRT54GS running DD-WRT (build 14929) for a while. I recently bought another Linksys (Cisco) router (WRT160NL) and installed DD-WRT on it (build 16785).
I'd like to keep the WRT54GS as my main router since it is very stable and use the WRT160NL as a network switch, NAS device, and asterisk server. I already have samba installed, configured, and running fine on the 160. However, the 160 is running as a router so only devices connected to it can access network shares.
How can I configure the 160 so that all devices in my network can access its network shares?
