Every file I download seems to be corrupt, although, files I download from another computer and put on a flash drive and install them from the flash drive work no problems at all. I'm putting this here because this might be relevant to the problem, my AMD display driver crashes every once and a while for no particular reason and WhoCrashed points to atikmdag.sys being the problem (I believe I may have fixed the BSOD through a guide) but nevertheless I would like to find out what is causing this. I've been testing things for three days now, different PSU, same, RAM tests came back okay, CHKDSK came back okay as well as wiping my hard drive and re installing windows, fresh download of all the drivers, latest display drivers, no viruses, and done everything on the "Why do I get the NSIS error list"

I occassionally see an issue on my network wherein a few of my devices (my phone, my wife's iPod, and my Ethernet-connected HTPC) will continually return a bad username/password combo when accessing services like Gmail (IMAP/Exchange), Pandora (HTTPS), or Boxee (HTTPS). The seem to have problems at the same time, which makes me think they are doing this as a result of something failing on my router (and yes, I'm certain the saved passwords are all correct since I won't change them and they'll start working again later).
Whenever the problem occurs, I'm making sure the date/time are right on my devices (i.e. certificate validity dates) and that they all sill have normal internet access. If I had to speculate, I'd guess this problem his happening when my router is under significant load and it's dropping some SSL packets.
I'm running the Linksys WRT310N v2 with firmware 2.0.0. I see there's an updated firmware available (2.0.1), but haven't yet applied it - and the release notes don't speak to my problem at all. I've rebooted the router after the last occurrence

We installed a new ASA 5510 (ver 8.3(1)) on the weekend and since then have had one isolated email issue. Here is the situation. We have a remote office that connects to us via IPsec site-to-site tunnel. They remote in to one of our servers and from that server email themselves PDF's. They have their own exchange server for general use, but the emails sent from our server go through our exchange server of course. The received email shows the user as the sender AND receiver. This previously worked fine.Since installing the ASA though, users get the following error when they try to open the document: "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."They tried this with a text file and the same thing occured. I have disabled SMTP inspection and have omitted the remote office from the CSC SSM scanning. This has not worked. The remote office also has an ASA 5510 (ver 8.2) but no changes were made this weekend. No updates were applied to Exchange this weekend.Previously my office was using a Cisco 1800, Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000 and Untangle gateway box. I replaced all 3 with the ASA. My supervisor is currently at this remote location and he can still email himself attachments from that particular server with no problem through the tunnel.

I recently installed Windows 8 on my dell xps 8500 - this was via the discount offer by dell when I bought it with windows 7.
At first I was able to download from the internet but now all I get is this message:
"file is corrupt or unreadable"
Of course this is impossible on every download.

Latest firmware with CCC corrupted after power outage. I reseet the e4500 several times and tried to reload the firmware and still no good. Only way I got it back up is to install the older non-CCC version 2.37. Strange all was fine until the power outage. Not sure if I should even bother to upgrade to 2.38 again.

I wanted to setup a home network for primarily sharing my music, pictures and videos.I have a PS3 which can stream the video/music and display the pictures from a media server to my TV.I was wondering between NAS and a desktop computer? and wanted to know which was the better or cheaper solution? (2 much 2 ask for both)
Main Issues
--Will NAS work with PS3?
--Incase of a computer, i know i will be able to use logmein or gotomypc to Download files directly to that machine even when im not home and when i do get home its ready to go. Can the same be achieved with a NAS?What else should i consider? i.e. pros and cons of both.

Trying to create a network for file sharing, as have upgraded the 'server' (part of a Workgroup, not a Domain) from WinXP to Win7 and experienced problems ever since. Ironically the problems haven't mainly been with sharing files between Win7 and WinXP systems, but between 2 Win7 systems. I bought a new Win7 laptop and tried to connect it to the server, but it hasn't had Read/Write privileges over the files in the Win7 server. Entering a username and password to gain access to the servers folders has not been a problem, and as far as I know, opening files such as documents has not been a problem either. However, when trying to save an edited document, access is denied, and if I try to open an executable file (this is necessary for a node installation), it prompts me for a network password. Every combination possible of username and password from the 2 systems (including '' or 'SYSTEMNAME' before the username) has not worked. I tried syncing the times which was apparently a previous problem, but to no avail. I am unable to access Local Security Policy, as the server is running off Home Premium. I have tried creating a new workgroup, removing and changing passwords, enabling guest access to the network through the Windows Resource Kit Command Shell, creating identical users on both computers, but nothing appears to have worked.

[code] Basically, we used to use Outlook for our customer management, but after I tried to design a custom form for customers that suited our needs better than Outlook's default form (i.e. we don't need state, country, region, etc. for each customer, and we'd prefer to have spots for Roof, Shingle, Shingle color, etc. in their place), we ended up turning OneNote into our new Customer Management System. Our problem is sharing files, and the security or lack thereof that goes along with it.We used to save all the files to a single computer, and use Windows 7 Home group to access them. That worked okay, but often we couldn't see the file-holding computer, and would have to disconnect/reconnect to the internet.
We recently bought a NAS HD, which actually works a lot better than I expected. Unfortunately, we've learned recently that new employees are not always the most trustworthy. So this is what we are trying to do:We want to set up some type of way for us to save, store, and access files, which allows us to keep track of who has done what (access, save, copy, delete, print, etc.), preferably one where we can set up alerts if certain things happen (i.e. someone copies and pastes the entire thing, or attempts to delete). We've run into the problem where, yes, we want people to be able to copy and paste certain documents, yes we want people to be able to print, but no we don't want someone to be able to print out our entire customer lists, current project lists, etc. This NAS HD (MyBook Live 2TB by Western Digital) could quite possibly have the most ridiculous set up I've ever encountered. I can set up accounts and passwords, but they are completely irrelevant because from "Computer" you can just select the z:/ drive and it will still take you to our files. We just brought on a couple new people, and its like, everyone tells them to come to me in regards to the computers, and I can't even hook them up to the internet because it would give them access to our network, which in turn gives them access to our z:/ drive, which contains every file our company has.

Before I moved home I had one netgear router supplied by virgin media. On my home network I had my pc sharing it's printer and also some shared folders I.e. Music folder, my documents etc. Now I've moved I have had a new netgear box supplied by virgin media (which I call virgin media 7) which because of the shape of the building doesn't reach my bed room. To fix this I have had to connect my old netgear box (which I call virgin media 8) to the new one via 10m of CAT5e but now I can't access my shared printer or shared folders on my win xp pc which is connected to virgin media 7 via wireless if my vista laptop is connected to virgin media 8. I have tried looking in the setting for the option that makes it just act as an wireless extention to vm7 but they have removed the menu from the settings.

our workstations provide data (files) to this network by using RDP. RDP allows a user to share the entire contents of one's C drive. I dislike this and many others in my organization also dislike this (from a security threat point of view). I am looking for an alternative and more secure approach.

recently i was trying to share files between two computers using a networking switch.(windows xp) I tried using network setup wizard on the host computer it only gave me two drive options f drive and the floppy disc drive. so i selected f drive to copy files. I inserted a cd and clicked next but nothing happened. i tried clicking format button and it asked me to 'insert a cd to f drive' so I avoided the format button. My computer has a backup system which someone installed and im not too sure about it so I was wondering if f drive was referring to the backup system (sort of looks like an external hard drive with lights on it connected to modem) or maybe referring to usb port. I did not try using my usb yet. The second pc I noticed did not have network setup wizard on control panel and was not sure if i needed it. I heard that a router has a firewall and is more safer than using a networking switch. at this stage i dont need internet connection for the second pc

Im on windows 7, I was able to view people on the network, able to access their public folders, but all of a sudden when I click on network, it just says at the top "Network Discovery and file sharing are turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible, Click to change..." I click on it and it doesn't do anything at all, same message comes on. SO i thought Ill change the settings, I see that Network Discovery is off so I turn them both on, save changes and then try again, same message appears, I go back to settings and see that they are switched off again, it doesn't stay on.

I've recently had an issue where when I turn on File and Printer Sharing, and click apply, I go straight back to the advanced setting menu and its switched back to off despite me changing it.I cheked my services menu and I'm not sure what file and printer sharing has a dependancy on, but Workstation, Netlogon, and Computer Browser will not turn on with the error "windows could not start *** service on the local computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start"I network printers and servers for a living, so this is an issue when I'm troubleshooting problems.I cant really name everything thats been installed on this laptop, it changes pretty consistently, but no programs should have interfered with my network
