Ralink RT2870 Chipset / 2k Built-in Utility With USB Wireless Stick?

Apr 9, 2011

Running 2k on a older Laptop, running the manufactures (Ralink RT2870 chipset) utility for a USB wireless stick causes issues so I want to try using Windows wireless utility. Problem is, I can't find how to use it. I have it running under Services. The supplied utility & drivers are installed, but I stopped loading the utility since it causes the PS2 mouse to stop responding as soon as the utility loads. The stick connects and does work, but I have no control over it without running the utility.

I tried another no name sticks software (the exact same stick, but under a different name) but it has a overly complex utility (and a newer driver), but it causes the Laptop to lock up completely.I never used a USB wireless stick before and never used wireless anything in 2k when I use to run it 6 or 7 years ago. The Laptop isn't for me.Does 2k have the ability to run a wireless device with its own utility as it does in XP, or is this because it is a USB stick, not a PCI card where the problem is?

Cisco Wireless :: 5100 / 6200 - Intel Chipset Clients Random Citrix Disconnects

Apr 24, 2012

Currently using intel 5100 & 6200 client cards on multiple driver versions. WiSM is 7.0.116. APs are 1250 and 1260 series. Citrix is setup to send server-side keepalives for session reliability. Randomly, several times a day the client will get disconnected from the Citrix application session but maintain connectivity to the AP and other applications continue to work. Traces show the server-side keepalive reach the controller but are delayed from controller to client by 5-6 seconds. Just enough time for the Citrix server to timeout and tear down to session. Additional testing shows the delay most likely occurs somewhere from controller to AP. It occurs on multiple controllers on multiple campuses.

We have Dell/Broadcom clients that don't experience the problem. The only commonality seems to be the Intel cards. CCX? I know Intel has a special relationship with Cisco regarding CCX and have developed features not available on other cards. Tried disabling power save and other CCX features but hasn't solved the issue.

750 / P55 Chipset / Jitter On Lan When Game Running In Background?

Dec 30, 2010

I got a quad core i5 750 and pci-e intel pro CT.It seems when I leave a game running in a window (is an old game, final fantasy 7) although the cpu is nowhere near full load in fact barely quarter load I am getting jitter on my lan traffic. Took me a while to diagnose as I didnt think that would be cause. It happens whether hardware offload is on or off on the card. This also didnt happen with the same network card in my core2duo machine, so even tho that had less power it didnt have a problem with this usage.

Is this a possibility of a saturated DMI channel on the P55 chipset, sending data for the game at same time as nic data? or probably something else?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 - Unknown Device On Network

Apr 9, 2012

I recently purchased a Linksys EA4500 Dual-Band N900 Router with Gigabit and USB. Everything set up great with no problems and after a day or 2 I managed to get all home devices connected (2 laptops, 2 printers, an iphone, 1 tv, 1 blu-ray, an old desktop, and a tablet). Everything was connected right and working and I installed the Linksys app on my iPhone which let me see what devices were connected and all that. Well, last night, an unknown device showed up as a connected device. It's labeled as: android_(insert string of characters) and has a MAC address. I've tried and tried to identify what this device is and I can't. Everything else on our network is still showing up independently of that device. I'm worried that someone using our connection and possibly putting our device security at risk. What can I do to A) try to identify what the device is and B) if it is an intruder, block it's access.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Unknown Device Showing In DHCP For WRT400N

May 2, 2013

I have the WRT400N router with the latest firmware. Recently I have noticed a device in my DHCP that I do not recognize. It is not device I own (believe me, I have racked my brain and confirmed) as it shows as an Acer pc. I cannot ping the IP address however. I have rebooted my router several times thinking maybe it's a former connected device but saved in memory but it keeps coming back. I am thinking possibly it is someone hi-jacking my Internet, but not sure. I am using WEP security but it shows a LAN connection which is strange for a wireless device. The only hard wired pc is my HP.

Today a random computer has appeared on our network with the name USER-U40PVRNHWL. We do broadcast a wireless signal, but it is password protected. I have done a complete sweep of the building and there are no extra pieces of hardware physically connected into our network.

Found Two Unknown Computers In Secured Network

Dec 13, 2011

I found two unknown computers on my network (using Explorer). I have a wireless setup at home (private) with a desktop (wired), two laptops and a phone (wireless). The encryption is WPA2/TKP with a hard to guess password. The two unknown computers were connected this morning and a few minutes after I tried to access them and do some checks, they disappeared could they have been watching me? I didn't check the router page until then and of course, they weren't there. Also, yesterday I was at a coffee place, so could it be that this is nothing and those two computers are from people at the cafe? Is there anything I can do to make sure nobody can access my network, unless it's the computers I want. I haven't manually set up a home network yet. [code]

Internet Is Connected But Cannot Browse / Unknown Device

Jun 5, 2012

My desktop's internet connection is acting up. It's always worked fine, then all of a sudden it has stopped. I can still access MSN messenger and Paltalk, perfectly fine, and it is showing that I have an internet connection. However, when I open any of my browser windows, it cannot access the internet. My laptop and ipod are connecting fine on the wireless. I have my ethernet cable from the desktop plugged into the router, which is plugged into the modem. I CAN force the connection to work by 'talking' to the modem (using the IP address) and doing a disconnect and reconnect. This lasts for a little while, then it stops again. When I do my network map, it shows an 'unknown device' where the modem is supposed to be. When I disconnect and reconnect the modem, it changes from 'unknown device' to 'switch'.
