View 1 Replies View RelatedI configured the HPLaserJet 4050 in my home for two laptops today.
Hardware involved in Setup:
Dlink Wireless Router for the internet connection at home. Two laptops with internet connectivity over wifi - needing the connection to the printer. One HP laserjet 4050 series printer (to be setup) Problem statement: Wanted to connect the Printer over the LAN cable to the wireless router and the laptops should be configured with the printer settings so as to print over wifi network.
Step-1
Power up the printer. Should warm up with the display showing 'READY' message. Do put A4 papers in the printer tray. Connect a one side of the LAN cable to the printer and the other to the router. In the printer : Click the 'Menu' button on the printer. Navigate till you see 'Information Menu' in display. Click the 'Item' button till you see the 'Print Configuration' in display. Now click 'Select' button. The printer should print two pages of printer configuration with the IP address also mentioned on sheet 1.
Step-2
Now from one of the laptops, ping the IP address from your computer system to ensure the connectivity to the printer within the network. Now follow these steps to add the printer:Go to Control Panel / Printers Click Add Printer Select Local (No automatic detect) Create a new port Select the Standard TCP/IP port Enter in the IP address of the Printer Then add in the drivers when requested for the HP, Laserjet 4050 PS. Now finish. It prompts to print the test page. Go ahead and print one to ensure that the printer in setup. Now repeat the Step-2 for any number of laptops in the home. All should get configured and work fine and should be able to print. No need to test for each and waste paper.
Now you can enjoy printing wireless and schedule multiple jobs and users also without efforts.
I've A brother HL-22580DW Wireless Printer, and two HP desktops (Both running Win7).
Desktop 1- via cable modem and router (Belkin),
Desktop 2- feeding off the routers broadcast,
I've gone through the documentation and a whole bunch of loops trying to figure out how to set it up. PC 1-There's a wireless setup wizard on the printer itself, that scans for SSIDs. The printer sees the router, and instructs me to push the 'WPC' button on the router, which I do. I head back over to the printer, confirm (ok)it attempts to connect, but it always says " Connection Failed ", prints out an error sheet stating that there is no wireless access point or router with "WPC" enabled.i was informed to "ad hoc" and enable the "WLAN" option on the printer, then denoting its own settings, giving it a name,( for testing purposes no password). This was a success.
PC 2- with the wireless adapter, it "sees" the printer, but when i connect to it the wireless bars are never stabilized ( bars appear, blue circle revolves) and while that occurs, I'm able to print from this computer but i'm forced to disconnect from the routers broadcast, leaving that computer netless, and still the connection never appears to be"stabilized".When messing with computer one,The printer never "sees" the Belkin router though it recognizes the SSID prior. with the second printer, I can print documents but I lose net connectivity switching over to the wireless printers broadcast, and the bars at the bottom right aren't 'stabilized'.I've tried disabling the firewall, on both computers, and within the router itself?
I need to set up existing printer & Scanned to work wire lees with wireless router that is installed in my home.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Canon i9900 printer wired to an XP desktop. I bought a new windows 7 laptop that connects to the internet through my wireless router. How do I setup the laptop to print through the router?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer. Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.
I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer. All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.
I used WPS on my DIR-655 Rev B1 FW 2.03NA to register a Brother HL-2270DW Wifi laser printer and my Mac can never wake it up to print. It always works fine from all my Windows machines. It appears as xxx.xxx.xxx.6 on my network. But the router only shows its IP as 0.0.0.0 on the STATUSWireless page and I can't find any way to change that. My assumption is that the Mac can't find it because of this, but I'm not an expert on WPS.Maybe I should take it out of WPS and just assign it a fixed IP using DHCP Reservation. Or is there another fix? I haven't ruled out the Brother OS X printer driver, but it and the printer's firmware are both up to date. Two odd things:
1. I can ping the printer from my PCs but the Mac can't find see in and it's not a Firewall issue.
2. I can see the brother printer in Finder's Shared devices: so it sees it but refuses to interact.
I need my security key
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to directly connect two Win XP machines together to transfer large files. Both have "Gigabit Ethernet".Its been years since I last did this, and used to need a special cable called a crossover cable to accomplish this, but reading up to refresh my memory I believe I no longer need the special cable, but can use the cable that now connects my cable modem to my computer, as the Gigabit specification eliminates the need for a crossover cable.

Later on I added a wireless device in the living room so I setup a name and key. Done.I still have the same devices, except going to add my Girlfriends Daughter and QOS her bandwidth.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running LMS 4.0 as an evaluation and I'm only discovering 86 devices, using the auto discovery. I've added a seed and although it sees lots of neighbours on that seed it only goes on to discover devices off a particular range. All the devices are set up the same way (standard config) so it should see them as well.
I know it has a limit on the number of managed devices of 100, and I could understand if it hit 100 and then stopped. We have around 500 devices in total (not including phones, DMPs, etc).
I've just added the seed and selected cdp as discovery method and set the snmp target as *.*.*.*. Is there anything else I should be doing?
I have a customer that purchased an LMS 3.0 package and later upgraded it to LMS 3.2 using same license for 300 devices. Now the customer wants to upgrade to LMS 4.1 and is asking if they can get a similar free upgrade as before, especially since their current LMS is covered under an SP Base contract.
Do you know if the SP Base contract will qualify them for this? I have tried discussing it with a TAC licensing Engineer and the Local Accounts team both have not given me a solid answer.
I will attempt to explain the history of our wireless controller configurations as best I can. We are currently using a 4400 controller running 7.x software which authenticates to and ACS 4.1 appliance. All of this was set up prior to my arrival on the job and the previous engineers had already left with no documentation in place so I'm trying to piece it together. The ACS is setup to map to AD for specific groups.
In the controller we have an SSID called triton which is our corporate SSID that all internal users connect to. Three different interfaces have been defined, a general one for most users and two others( lets call them INT1 and INT2) that place users on separate ip networks. The reason for this is those ip networks can reach certain services that are not allowed for general users. ACS maps those users upon authentication to the Vlans associated with those separate ip networks.
Problem 1. When I first took this job, users could not map drives or any services because only user authentication was taking place..After some troubleshooting and realization that ACS was authenticating, placing the "Domain Computers" group as an ACS group mapping fixed that issue, allowing the computers to authenticate prior and therefore execute the login script
Problem 2. Recently it has come to my attention that some of the users on one of the other interfaces (INT1 and INT2) that should be placed in the vlans associated with their AD group mapping are not. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the reason they are not is that the authentication is not correct. When the computer first authenticates before the user logs on its shows in ACS as host/xxxxx.yyyy.org where the user authentication shows as xxxxx/username . So some of the computers never change from authenticating as a host to a user and the ip address ends up in the wrong vlan.
Okey so the issue here is that my computer just looses its connection after ive downloaded somewhat or something.especially when im downloading from you know what So.when i try to go on my Chrome, explorer, firefox WHATEVER it says Additional logon information may be required.so i click on that annotation and it just brings me to the home page of my main browser google home page with ofcourse no internet what so ever.. im using Wireless and wired (best connection) for the wired i use it through a cisco but neither works.it works fine on laptop and my iPhone 4.

First, let me give you a little details on my current network setup and what I am trying to accomplish with this Pix 515. Currently all my users go out the proxy for any internet access, however I have certain users that need to go out the cable modem instead of the proxy server. Below is an example of the current IP setup of a user A:The cable modem that we currently have has DHCP so I would need the external PIX address to accept a DHCP address. I also don't really understand what else I need to setup so if I have say four users hitting the cable modem through the pix how do I direct their web traffic to the correct computer (NAT ?),I will be plugging the PIX into a cisco switch that all ports are in VLAN 48 so hopefully a static internal address on the pix of 10.24.48.254 will keep me from having to do any routes since all traffic will be originating from the 10.24.48.0 network.
