View 4 RepliesI have just started using my D-Link 1310 Router after quite a few years of it laying around. I managed to get as far as connecting my D820 and my Desktop in a basic Network. I have Windows XP Home on both the Desktop and Laptop. The next step I want to accomplish is making the Laptop wireless with my apartment. When I first had the Router, I of course had Technical Support and my Warranty with Dell was still active, so I was walked through the process and took notes. The only file I made note of for this step was installing the driver (US) WLAN Card Rev.A12, but there must be something else that enables the WiFi catcher because I don't have any icon in the System Tray and no way to access it.
I also remember it being necessary to Bridge the Modem and Router, (I believe we did it from the Verizon site). Though I was told recently that Bridging is not used anymore, now they do a thing called "Double Netting"?
What steps are required to install my WUSB11 ver 2.6 wireless adapter on my new Windows 7 machine?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2801 running c2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-3g.bin According to the Cisco IOS MIB locator the image supports OLD-CISCO-SYSTEM-MIB I have tried .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.55 etc to set server IP address and the filename string but without any luck.e.g.
Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
Failed object: iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.55.a.b.c.d (where a.b.c.d is the server IP)
I have also tried the method similar to that for Cat 3550 switches where you create a table of entries to define the transfer paramaters then activate the transfer (I think the CISCO-CONFIG-COPY-MIB)
e.g.
[URL]
C:>snmpset -v 1 -c private <device name> ccCopyProtocol.<random number> integer 1 ! 1 = tftpccCopySourceFileType.<Random number> integer 1 ! 1 = networkFileccCopyDestFileType.<Random number> integer 3 ! 3 = startup & 4 = runningccCopyServerAddress.<Random number> ipaddress "<server ip address>"ccCopyFileName. <Random number> octetstring "<file name>"ccCopyEntryRowStatus.<Random number> integer 4 ! 4 = createAndGo, or 1 = Active
To write net have the source as running (4) and the dest as network (1)
ccCopySourceFileType.<Random number> integer 4
ccCopyDestFileType.<Random number> integer 1
Clean up at the end - destroy .14 with the value of 6.
example output : -
-- earlier output omitted --
Error in packet.
Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
Failed object: iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.4.111

I checked Cisco's website and it says "up to 550m"?

I have a DIR-825 coming. Do I really need that long to setup something? When I got my Netgear all I did was plug the sucker in. Two ethernet cables in the back. Done. Later on I added a wireless device in the living room so I setup a name and key. Done.I still have the same devices, except going to add my Girlfriends Daughter and QOS her bandwidth.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working with a customer who has an SGE2000P and a Catalyst 2960 to setup and configure a single mode fiber link. The SGE2000P has an MFELX1 fiber GBIC and the 2960 has a GLC-LH-SMD GBIC. When I have the customer plug in his fiber, there is a power light that comes on on the MFELX1 GBIC. Neither GBICs/switches show that a link or activity is occurring, but the presence of that light makes me think that they are connecting somehow. Are these two switches/GBICs compatible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-655 and OVERALL like it -- but there is one HUGE flaw.
I have set up several MAC address-based rules/schedules to restrict the times of use by my kids. FOR THE MOST PART these work fine (all clients on wireless). BUT at random intervals, all of the PCs with these MAC-based rules/schedules in place suddenly lose their internet connection (i.e. get blocked by the router). This does not happen to me or my wife (neither of our laptops have MAC-based restrictions in place for them). A reboot of the router reestablishes connectivity for the blocked machines. This reboot is something I find myself doing daily -- sometimes multiple times per day. I have verified that the latest firmware version is in place.

I'm a court reporter trying to set up a connection between my laptop and my court reporting machine, which has built in wifi capabilities. My court house has public wifi but there is always some interference which causes transmission between my laptop and machine to freeze. I was told I could create my "own wifi" between my machine and laptop if i bought a router. is this possible with this hardware?
