Mar 28, 2009I have a Studio XPS 1340. Running Vista. Sat evening I was on the net, and had left the machine for a while. I refreshed a page using F5 after 10 mins inactivity, and the WIFI had dropped. I have the Dell Wireless 1515 Wireless N adaptor. I cannot find any wireless networks, and the error message I get is to "Turn on wireless capability".
On the Studio XPS 13 there is no wireless switch, to turn on/off the wireless. I've tried to turn on the wireless using Fn + F2, and I have also unchecked the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power." box. rebooted any further suggestions? I've disabled and enabled the wireless network card a couple of times, drivers seem to be working correctly. when I try to update the drivers I'm told they are the most up to date drivers available.
Might this be McAfee related? Have I inadvertently turned off the wireless using a shortcut key by accident?

Jan 16, 2012My wireless internet has been working perfectly well on my XPS 17 (L701X) until last weeky. I was on the internet and then my wireless turned off suddenly. the error message says "turn wireless capability on". BUt on the wardware, the witch is on, but when I check windown mobility center, it shows "wireless off" . Ran network diagnostics, but same error massage "turn wireless capability on". For now, when it happens, I need to restart my computer and it back to nomal. This happens at least 3-4 times a day.

Cox blames it on Toshiba and Netgear and netgear blames it on Toshiba. i blame it on Cox who says for some reason my Toshiba wont allow the signal to be picked up. I just replaced a WRT54G2 router with a Cisco Valet router.When I start up the laptop, the wireless adaptor's Monitor configuration takes priority over Windows XP wireless configuration, but the Cisco Valet does not recognize the Monitor. If I disable the Monitor, everything is fine until I reboot, and then the Monitor again prevents connecting to the router.

Oct 11, 2012I currently have 2 cisco aironet 1121G access points. Both of which I believe had an image fail during an upgrade from autonomous mode to lightweight mode. I have tried to reset these access points as directed from Cisco's instructions. I have done a reset (amber light on the middle) and a factory restore (red light in the middle) They go through the steps to restore to factory default, however, after what I believe is an attempt to pull a dhcp address before defaulting into 10.0.0.1 ip address, the access point restarts. This is happening to both of them. After they reset and go through the series of memory tests, I am able to get all three solid green lights, they stay lit for just 15 seconds (rather than 5 minutes so that i can load a new image) I am not sure why they are behaving this way. I have tried as many different possibilities resetting with the mode button. There is no console port on this model of access points so i am unable to manage it otherwise.

New Ubee Router Dropping Connection Permanently?
Jan 8, 2013I just switched ISP's and they provided me with a Ubee router. The computer plugged directly into works fine, great speed, no drops. A laptop connected via Wifi is the same, great speed, no drops.My Router is not simply 'dropping' connection, but instead, 'disabling' the internet to the devices and forcing me to reconnect in order to get approx. a few minutes of it again.I have a Desktop computer with a WGA600N Gaming adapter hooked up to it, and an iPod touch.Both worked perfectly with the old router, so I know it's the router for sure. The thing is, it's not just dropping and reconnecting..
It's connecting for a few minutes, and disconnecting permanently until I reconnect to the connection..For my iPod, it doesn't actually disconnect me, I just lose internet. It says I still have 3 bars of signal strength on my iPod, but I don't have internet. I must hit 'Forget this Network' and retype the password in order to get another 2-3 minutes out of the signal.As for my Desktop hooked up with the gaming adapter, when the internet 'runs out', I simply unplug it and plug it back in to 'renew' the internet.

Jan 7, 2012I have just started using my D-Link 1310 Router after quite a few years of it laying around. I managed to get as far as connecting my D820 and my Desktop in a basic Network. I have Windows XP Home on both the Desktop and Laptop. The next step I want to accomplish is making the Laptop wireless with my apartment. When I first had the Router, I of course had Technical Support and my Warranty with Dell was still active, so I was walked through the process and took notes. The only file I made note of for this step was installing the driver (US) WLAN Card Rev.A12, but there must be something else that enables the WiFi catcher because I don't have any icon in the System Tray and no way to access it.
I also remember it being necessary to Bridge the Modem and Router, (I believe we did it from the Verizon site). Though I was told recently that Bridging is not used anymore, now they do a thing called "Double Netting"?

Jan 19, 2012My WAG160N had been working fairly reliably until this morning.
It's now stuck in a permanent cycle of resets:-
1. Power lights flashes 10 secs
2. Then wireless light comes on for 5 secs then goes out
3. The 4 network port lights flash once
4. Then just power light comes on for 2 secs
5. Power light blinks red, and repeat...
I've tried powering off (router and anything trying to connect), & unplugging everything. No difference.
Also tried the reset button. This seems to work - power light goes red after about 5 secs, and the router restarts. But no improvement.
It's not even staying up long enough to connect to the admin page.
