New Ubee Router Dropping Connection Permanently?
Jan 8, 2013
I just switched ISP's and they provided me with a Ubee router. The computer plugged directly into works fine, great speed, no drops. A laptop connected via Wifi is the same, great speed, no drops. My Router is not simply 'dropping' connection, but instead, 'disabling' the internet to the devices and forcing me to reconnect in order to get approx. a few minutes of it again.I have a Desktop computer with a WGA600N Gaming adapter hooked up to it, and an iPod touch. Both worked perfectly with the old router, so I know it's the router for sure. The thing is, it's not just dropping and reconnecting..
It's connecting for a few minutes, and disconnecting permanently until I reconnect to the connection..For my iPod, it doesn't actually disconnect me, I just lose internet. It says I still have 3 bars of signal strength on my iPod, but I don't have internet. I must hit 'Forget this Network' and retype the password in order to get another 2-3 minutes out of the signal. As for my Desktop hooked up with the gaming adapter, when the internet 'runs out', I simply unplug it and plug it back in to 'renew' the internet.

For some reason my E4200 keeps going back to Swedish (I'm in Sweden) even after I have manually set it to English and making sure to save the changes. What I'm talking about is the WEB interface reached by going to 192.168.1.1
Why does it do that and how can I make it stick to English without switching back to Swedish all the time by itself?

I just got set up with time warner, and the modem they gave me (Ubee DDW3611) also has a built in router. I already have an Asus RT-N15 running DD-WRT, and this is what I want to use as my router.
If I connect the Asus router to the Ubee router, is my Asus router going to take control? It appears as though it's handeling DCHP, but what about things like port forwarding? Am I going to run into trouble by having both routers? Is there any settings I should make in the Ubee router, or just leave it be?

I changed my ISP (I don't know if that has anything to do with it).I have my network setup so I have a seperate modem (tp-link td-8616), which is connected to my router (asus wl-520gu) and do most of my computing from my computer (running Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium, wired network). I had installed tomato firmware onto my router, which was working fine with my first ISP. I changed companies about a week ago, and noticed my connection kept being dropped. At first, I thought it was an issue with my ISP, so I called them up, and didn't find a solution.
Afterwards, I started doing some trouble shooting on my own, and noticed my modem was still connected (via the WAN LED, at least), even though my router disagreed. So, I tried connecting directly to my modem and my connection would be fine without any issue at all, so I thought I'd trouble shoot the router. I switched back to the factory asus firmware, connected it back to my modem, and after a while, it disconnected my LAN connection again. My router comes with this somewhat annoying interface that tells me the issue is "You have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address for your wl-520gu." So, I investigate that, and here is the setup:
My modem is statically 192.168.1.1 when I directly connect to it, so I left that setting alone. My router is also 192.168.1.1, but this was how tomato worked, so I'm not sure that this is the conflict, so I tried setting it to 192.168.1.2, which does not seem to fix the problem. My DHCP settings are set so connecting computers are 192.168.1.100-254, which should avoid the conflicts.

My router at work is working fine, at least for LANing...as for its connection to the internet, it keeps dropping the connection. The router will be connected to the internet for say an hour or 2, sometimes more, and then it drops the connection. Usually a router restart(either from the web interface or by pressing the on/off button) fixes it, but only for a while.

My internet connection keeps dropping when using my router. I will have internet connection for a few hours and then it will drop. I thought it was a bad router (I had a Netgear N300 that is about 2 or 3 years old) so I bought a new Cisco Linksys EA2700 N600 router and the same thing happens. I can connect to the internet through just the modem and it works fine. Is is just a setting or something? BTW, I have an Arris cable modem that is several years old and my ISP is Suddenlink, and am running Windows XP Professional SP3.

Within the last 6 months, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C655 running Windows 7. When I take it to my summer house, I can connect wirelessly initially to a Westell VersaLink model# B90-327W15-06 router, but by the end of the first day I lose my connection and cannot connect unless I direct cable to modem. When I return home, it works fine again. The next time I visited my summer house, the same thing has happened. I worked with my IP support tech to try and resolve this issue to no avail. My husband's MACbook has no problem connecting wirelessly. The IP support tech had me enter the router's IP address to acess the router. When the Westell screen came up, no matter what menu option I clicked on the screen did not respond. My IP support person suggested I download firmware from the Westell site.I am not sure what to download - is it 'triggering' or 'forwarding' firmware?

I bought a TP-Link WR1043ND router about 3 months ago and I had a problem since then.It keeps dropping my connection randomly. If I hook my PC directly to the modem, the connection's fine. With the stock firmware, if the connection drops, I can't even access my router through its IP. I get an indefinitely loading webpage with nothing to show. I can only solve this by unplugging and then plugging in the router.DD-WRT was better, I could access the router anytime a disconnect occurred, but it still occurred.

To start off, the wireless router we have is a D-LINK 615 Wireless N 300 Router. We've had this router for a couple of months now and only recently has it been giving us grief. When we first got it (it was actually a friend's who had lent it to me but have been using ever since), it was working like a charm. No dropped connections, etc. However, as of a few weeks ago, we've began to notice that the connection has been dropping constantly. It started one a day around the same time (in the evening) and ever since has happened multiple times per day.The connection will either drop all together (lights still going on flashing) or there will be a limited connection (as stated in Windows) and I can't do anything. This happens for my laptop as well as my PS3. My desktop is hard-wired so there's never a connection issue there. Power cycling the router usually fixes the issue but again, this is constant and keeps disconnecting for some reason and having to power cycle every day is annoying. All the lights are always flashing like normal but the connection just drops off.

My downloads would be incomplete, and streaming is terribly slow. My torrent downloads will always reset. Simply put, this type of internet connection is terrible.

I recently changed my internet connection from a very slow adsl connection (im a LONG way from the exchange) to a moderatly faster vdsl connection. With the upgrade, they force me to use a modem that looks like it was made 20 years ago (although they say its had all the internals upgraded a month ago) leaving me to use a seperate router for wireless signal. I bought a bellkin F9K1002 v3 and after a little hassle had it up and running, the network connection between all the systems is great, but the router drops the internet connection every 30-120 seconds, for 15-20 seconds each time. I have about 10 devices connecting, but problem is there with just 1 connection wired or wireless.
I've tried calling my ISP (who will not touch router settings) and belkin tech support (who sound like they touched their first computer about 22 seconds ago) with no improvement. I've connected directly to the modem and had perfect connection for 12 hours, ruling it out of the equasion. I've disconnected all systems but one at a time, trying on 3 systems, with no improvement. I've turned off firewall, WPS, tried multiple wireless settings (channels and such) updated firmware all with no improvement. Here's a sample of the system log on the router:
Jan/1/2000 00:27:59 WAN PPPoE client receive
PADS
Jan/1/2000 00:28:00 WAN PPPoE client PAP

I have a Netgear WNR1000v3 router. I have two computers connected with a wired connection and a couple of different devices that I connect with using the wireless connection. (Phone, Laptop, Ipad). The wired connections work fine but the wireless connection will only connect to the internet for a very short time (seconds) and then drop off. If I wait long enough I will pick it back up again. But again, for only a very short time. I have tried all the reboot procedures without any success. If I reboot the laptop, Ipad, etc., that seems to get me a connection, again for a very short time. I've checked the lights on the router and everything there says its OK. It seems to have to difference how far I am from the router. I've put the computer right next to it without success. Is the router going bad? It's only about 4 months old. Because I don't use the wireless feature often, I can't tell you if it ever worked or not. It seems to me like I was able to keep a connection when I first hooked it up but I'm not sure.

I have a strong internet signal with good SNR coming out of my cable modem, then a nice short 3ft cable going to my linksys VOIP router (I think it's a SPA 2102). Whether I have anything downstream plugged in or not, the "phone" light on the VOIP router goes off every once in a while and when I check I find that I've lost both dial tone and Internet - basically everything downstream of the VOIP router. Have tried every variation on configuration you can imagine (feeding just one phone, feeding the entire phone wiring to the house, nothing at all plugged into the phone jack, no computers downstream plugged in, replaced all the cables, ...). I've replaced BOTH the cable modem and the linksys VOIP router and the problem continues. My cable company says my signal is fine. They suggested a signal amplifier but the coax comes straight to the modem, no splitter, and I'm always seeing 6-7dBmV. My phone company says their router must be losing signal upstream and refusing to reconnect, especially now that we've tried replacing their VOIP router with no change. Any chance I got two 'bad' routers in a row? Not sure what they did for setup parameters. I'm not particularly tech-savvy but have read a lot since seeing these issues, have run my own ping and tracert checks and everything seems to be wonderful... but then most of the time everything IS fine. When I have phone it's crystal clear and when I have internet it's nice and fast. I sometimes go 24hrs or so without a drop, but other times I'm resetting 2-3x in a couple of hours. All I do is power off the VOIP router and back on and everything is fine, for a while. After first getting VOIP things were fine for 4-6 weeks.

I replaced a WRT54G2 V1 with a E1550 earlier this week. This router connects a sub-net of our office to the main network of our office. When the WRT54 was in place everything worked without a hitch, but the E1550 keeps dropping us from a server we have on the main network. The WRT54 is back in play until I can figure this out.

For a number of months now, our Internet connection in an office of 5 computers, 2 Macs, 3 windows boxes (1 as dell laptop) has experienced the connection of the Internet dropping off.The timing of the 'drops' is usually in the morning, when the Dell Inspiron M510 either boots up or wakes from sleep. Typically the solution is to turn off the modem, the router and switch, wait a few minutes, then turn the switch, the router, then the modem back on. Our connection via the modem is through AT&T, via a non-static IP addy. Our router is a BEFSR41, v4, with firmware up to date (circa 2006) It's becoming a daily chore now, just about, and is getting to be a bit of a headache on some days.

I purchased the DIR-615 last week, and have experienced intermittent loss of internet connectivity, and automatic rebooting numerous times a day. A solid connection is up for 90% of the time; but you never know when connection will be lost. When connection is lost it automatically comes back after about 5 minutes with the router rebooting itself. I though I would ask for assistance here prior to taking it back to Fry's. I was previously using a 6 year old Linksys, and had no problems for years until it recently decided to die.
Specific information:
DIR 615
Hardware Version I1
Firmware Version 9.01NA (I updated from 9.0)

My WAG160N had been working fairly reliably until this morning.
It's now stuck in a permanent cycle of resets:-
1. Power lights flashes 10 secs
2. Then wireless light comes on for 5 secs then goes out
3. The 4 network port lights flash once
4. Then just power light comes on for 2 secs
5. Power light blinks red, and repeat...
I've tried powering off (router and anything trying to connect), & unplugging everything. No difference.
Also tried the reset button. This seems to work - power light goes red after about 5 secs, and the router restarts. But no improvement.
It's not even staying up long enough to connect to the admin page.

* ADSL modem connected to internet
* WiFi router (Netgear WPN824v2) connected to ADSL modem
* CPU, iPhone and iPad connected to router, CPU wired connection.Everything has worked like a charm up until a couple of days ago. Now the link between the router WAN port and the modem randomly drops. Stays dropped for 1-3 secs and then connect again. When its really bad this happens with 5-10 secs intervall. This made it impossible to use the network from any of the devices. If I disconnect the CPU from the router and connect it direcly to the modem and change the IP settings to match the modem network the CPU connects without errors to the internet, iPad and iPhone connected to the router keeps having problems.Restarting the router does not change anything and it seems to be more frequent errors during heavy load hours, in the morning I have almost no problems at all, in the evenings I cant almost use the wireless devices (CPU works fine as its now connected directly to the modem not through the router).I havent changed a setting in the last year, it just came right out of the blue.I have hard reset both the modem and the router and reconfigured them (that I dont want to do again as I have some virtual servers, port forwards, port triggers and so on :P).As it came right out of the blue without me changing anything on any device and as it seems to be more frequent during heavy load hours I'm suspecting that the ISP is involved, but how can they be (it works fine with devices connected straight to the modem)?

I have a NetGear WNR-1000 wireless G router. I currently only have 1 computer hooked up but I have had 3 computers hooked up to it before. It doesn't matter what internet it's connected to or how it's connected to the modem itself. I have had DSL and Cable hooked up to it and I am currently using it as a secondary router behind my roommates old Wireless B router. He currently has all of his things hooked up via ethernet and wirelessly to his router. So, im download the xirrus wifi inspector thing. It doesn't matter the OS either. I've had XP sp3, vista, and 7 all hooked to it and it's the same all the way around and it doesn't matter the kind of wireless card either!

I got an EDIMAX Nano BRN-6258n Router to replace my glitchy Belkin Wireless-G router about a month ago. My typical network setup involves a desktop computer wired to a router and a laptop connected wirelessly.
Anywhere from once a week to twice a day, the internet connection starts (selectively) dropping off. While I cannot browse the web, some of my browser add-ons and Skype/Dropbox are working fine, and Windows almost always indicates a perfectly working connection.
If I am streaming through YouTube or other sites, the stream continues to play after the connection loss.
For AV, I use a combo of Malwarebytes and AVG Internet Security.

I'm trying to install a new modem/router (the above) and am having a few problems. The install seems to have gone fine and the firmware has been updated to the latest version. PCs/laptops/PS3s/phones can all connect to the router both wired and wireless. But the modem seems to be dropping its connection to the internet at regular intervals - sometimes every 15mins, other times less. The security log mentions "PPPoE disconnected" after which it reconnects.Has anyone got an idiot proof list of what I should be checking? My old Net gear DG834PN does not have this problem at all so it really has to be the router rather than the line - at least that is my guess.
