View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a bit of an issue. A friend of mine has recently gotten windows 7 installed into his desktop. When he tried to install the network adapter (wusb11 version 2.8), it installed. However, when we searched for it in the device manager, it did not appear. does Version 2.8 only cover up to Windows XP or is there software to make it work for Windows 7?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a hard drive failure recently and replaced my HDD with an identical HDD (WD 500 AAKS) and did a restore from my WD Passport Essential. Everything works as before except I can't install my AE1000 wireless adapter. The OS recognizes the new hardware and I attempt instalation form the setup CD. Istallation goes until it gets to the "Installing" step and then it just stays there forever until it comes back with an error. I am accessing the internet now through a cat 5 ethernet hook-up.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried to connect the usb adapter with an Acer Aspire 7736ZG, installed with Windows 7 64bit edition. Well, I *can't*.
- I started the CD installation and when prompted, I've connected the USB stick. Well, the stick couldn't be detected, and the installation couldn't continue.
- Then, I used the Windows7 drivers and managed to install the device (device manager, sees the device normally). But, the CD still couldn't continue the installation of extra software.
- Ok, no linksys software - no big deal. I would use the Windosw wireless management program. NO! The card seems not be present, and the only wireless connections I get, is by the onboard 802.11n card of the laptop (don't ask why I bought an extra 802.11n card).
- Nothing happens by disabling the onboard 802.11n card and trying all over again.
- If I go to the connection and sharing center and select "change setting of adapter", well, my expensive and cisco-super-duper card, isn't there, and I can only find the Atheros ARB93 Wireless card and the local (wired) adapter.
So, to sum up, 64bit driver seems to be installed correctly on the device manager (as proposed on other threads) but the adapter is not present on the system. How cool is that?
I just got a WPC600N wireless card working with XP Service Pack 3.Do NOT install the software, just slide the card in.Windows will ask for the drivers, point it to the CD or where you downloaded them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 with the WUSB600N (v.2). Here is how I got it to work. The driver support is not a .exe. You will have to install it yourself...but it's not a big deal.Download the Windows 7 driver for your OS version from the Linksys Support page.Save it to the desktop and then unzip it to the desktop so you can find it easier.Once unzipped you will see 3 folders: Mac, Win7 32 and Win7 64. Choose accordingly. What I did was install it through the "Device Manager". (Right click "My Computer", choose "Manage", then Device Manager",or use the "Search Bar under the Start Menu...whatever. Once you are in the Device Manager...
1. Make sure your WUSB600N is inserted in your computer.
2. Navigate down to "Network Adapters" If you see your WUSB600N adapter...great! Your halfway home!
3. Right click on the "Linksys WUSB600N Adapter.
4. Choose the option to " Update Driver Software"
5. Choose "Browse My Computer for Software"
6. Navigate to the desktop and choose the folder that contains the name of your Windows 7 platform.
7. It should update but, HOLD ON! We are not done yet!!!
In order for it to start transmitting in that shiny new 5GHZ band, you must go into "Network and Sharing Center". Once there, look on the left hand side of the main window and you will see "Change adapter settings"Go there. You should see here that your existing adapter is still working (enabled) and your new Linksys WUSB600N has a big fat red "X" under it (disabled).Right click on your existing adapter and choose, "DISABLE".Then, right click on the WUSB600N adapter and choose "ENABLE".The last thing you should have to do is choose the network you want to connect to (for me it was the 5GHZ one) ..and Viola!!
Whenever I try to install the drivers for the adapter normally, Windows 7x64 gives me a message that the device name "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter" already exists and is in use, preventing me from installing the wireless driver properly. In order to get around it, I changed all "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter" fields into "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter B" in the netr28ux.inf file to make the driver install under a different name.I tried everything I can to remove all evidence of linksys drivers from my computer, uninstalling and removing driverstore with pnputil.exe, but I cannot seem to find the originating files to uninstall. For now the way I edited the netr28ux.inf file works, but I'd rather be able to install the driver as intended.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI purchased the AE1000 wireless adapter for use with my Linksys WRT54G router. I first tried to install by loading the CD, which went so far as the "Insert your adapter into a USB port" screen. The Windows "processing" circle spun for about twenty minutes, then I was prompted to "insert the wireless adapter" once more. Rinse, repeat. I absolutely cannot get past this step. I scoured the web for an answer and turned up little. I uninstalled my antivirus and firewall software, made certain that files associated with my prior adapter were removed, tried varying USB ports (all 2.0) on my desktop, and had no success. Today, I exchanged the adapter for a replacement, and I'm encountering all of the same difficulties.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a AE2500 adapter recently and attempted to install the Cisco Connect software. It gets to the point of connecting the device to the wireless, then crashes. I noticed that as I plugged the device in, it was recognised and activated without running the software at all; at the time of the software trying to connect the device, it's already connected.Just in case it was a matter of an old version of the driver and Cisco Connect software, I went online to the website and downloaded both the most recent driver and the latest version of Cisco Connect. The Cisco Connect crashed just like the version on the CD, and the driver said it was already the latest version and wouldn't install. So I tried the direct chat option. I spoke to two people. One of them lead me to give them a lot of information, then began asking me about my router... and promptly forgot about the adapter. They even had me on the path to resetting and installing software for the router I'm connected to, which isn't mine. Then the chat session crashed. why the Cisco Connect program keeps repeatedly crashing, and how I can stop it from doing so. As it stands, I think the adapter is overloading the memory on my computer and causing blue screens; I've been getting them ever since I connected the adapter. I think it might have something to do with my computer automatically detecting and activating the device when it's plugged in, but I'm not sure.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI get the following error when running the setup executable downloaded from this site:
Error description: Adapter can't be Found
Model name: AE1200/AE2500
Operating system: Windows 7 SP 1
Software version: 2.1.0.6
Motherboard is an asus p7p55
I have tried all 8 usb ports on the back of my computer and the 2 case ports. Non of them detect the adapter when running the setup executable. I have no other usb devices connected. Windows 7 was installed on this machine at the begining of this month. I have attempted to install the AE2500 on another windows 7 pc and it installed with no problems. I suspect the problem is the motherboard.
I have tried installing this device on Windows 7 64bit machine. The install seems to go fine and the device works at 2.4G.
But I purchased this unit to be able to test a clients 5GHz system. There does not seem to be any place to switch from 2.4G to 5.0G.
All Installed my AE1000 this evening, after two go`s got it to work BUT the Cisco installer comes up with "Our customer support team can assist Your Linksys Adapter was not successfully setup." but it is working .. I never got the screen with the four "bubbles" (as per the instructions here on the Cisco website)

I cant install drivers for Windovs XP both 32-64 Professional. Original CD tells me for x64 OS is not supported, also, when trying to install only drivers it just can't find it. For x32 same problem - can't install drivers. I've got Intel DP45SG.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install a WMP54G PCI Version 4.1 in my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 computer. I ran the setup cd before installing the card, then took out the disk. After installing the card and powering the computer, the Available Wireless Network screen didn't appear. I also didn't get the Network Monitor icon on the taskbar. Network Monitor appears in the start menu, but can't be started. Device Manager says the card is working properly and there are no conflicts.
I uninstalled the software, removed the card, and repeated the installation process with the same end result. The card light blinks like it is receiving data. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G2 router. Both my desktop (W7) and my laptop (Vista) connect just fine. How can I get my W2K computer on the network?
