View 2 RepliesI bought this adapter (WUSB11) not knowing there were two different kind of wireless networks. We have a wireless-G router and NOT a wireless-B. I do not want to open the boxes to try the adapters. Will the wireless-B adapters be compatible with the wireless-G router?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a bit of an issue. A friend of mine has recently gotten windows 7 installed into his desktop. When he tried to install the network adapter (wusb11 version 2.8), it installed. However, when we searched for it in the device manager, it did not appear. does Version 2.8 only cover up to Windows XP or is there software to make it work for Windows 7?

Model : TL-WDR3600
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.17 Build 120508 Rel.45884n
ISP :
I've got two WDR3600
the first one is the main router:
- connected to ISP modem
- DHCP on
- 2.4Ghz radio to serve WiFi clients security WPA-PSK
- 5GHz radio to link to the second WDR3600
protocol 802.11n only
the second WDR3600 is WDS of the main router:
- DHCP off
- 2.4GHz radio to serve WiFi clients security WPA-PSK
- 5GHz radio to link to the first WDR3600
protocol 802.11n only
All is working fine, however WDS connection works only with security off. WPA-PSK is not selectable, cannot test WPA2, no radius server available, WEP not supported due to incompatibilty with 802.11n protocol. Is this the expected behaviour? How to get WDS working with WPA-PSK encryption? Could this be due to the firmware or s it a limitation of Atheros chipset?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear N600 (WNDR3400) router, it supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. My laptop is a Thinkpad T410s with a 11b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II.i have enabled both of the wireless networks on the router, and given them different SSIDs. I have updated my wireless drivers to the absolute newest ones. My issue is that my laptop cannot even see the 5 GHz SSID. I was under the impression that any N enabled device would be able to communicate on the 5 GHz network.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFactory default settings of my WRT54GS encryption are Disabled. When I try to enable WPA Personal encryption (>Wireless, Wireless Security), it reverts back to Disabled as soon as I make the selection. >Administration, >Wireless, >Encryption Function is Disabled. When I had this router set up at another location with another ISP, this was never an issue. How do I get the encryption function to be enabled?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am in a situation where I share internet access with roommates. We have a Gateway which is conected to the provider and which delivers ethernet and WiFi signal.
In order to isolate myself from my roomates and to protect my network connection, both wired and WiFi, I would like to plug in the Ethernet cable I get from the Gateway to my router, and then configure my router's firewall and WiFi enctryption to maximize my safety.
However, I am having some problems. I have already configured the router as "router" and not "Gateway" and I am trying to assign it an IP address different from the default one, which is the one the gateway has, and a ranger of DHCP IP's, also different from those of the Gateway. In other words, 192.1681.N.1 for the router and start from there.
Cannot connect to network with WUSB11. A few days ago I installed driver version 4.0 on a Windows 7.0 OS. I was able to connect. Then I had to change the modem to a Motorola nvgs10. The wireless adapter recognizes the modem as it appears in my available networks from the systray. However it will not connect.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7-64 bit. The AE1000 works great so far, in the one day I've had it, and it appears to start itself and connect when turning the computer on (unlike other people on here that I've seen). BUT, it's all pointless if I can't put my computer into standby. The adapter kicks it right back out as soon as I try to sleep the computer.
I've checked the device settings and "allow the device to wake the computer" is unchecked (in fact, it's grayed out). I rarely turn off the computer; I much prefer to just put it in standby. I don't want to have to unplug the adapter every time I do that.
I recently re-installed Windows on my PC, and I had the Wireless-G PCI Adapter installed before I done the re-installation.Now I've re-installed Windows, the adapter doesn't work. Do I have to re-do the whole process again? Also, I didn't actually install it myself, so any detailed step-by-step tutorial?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI picked up a AE3000 for an older laptop, but it will not connect to any network. It is on an older (01') dell laptop running XP SP3. I have tried using the disk and downloading the latest drivers on-line but no luck. It picks up all the networks around me and mine, but it says trying to connect and just can't. I tried it on another laptop and everything works fine. Is there an issue with this adapter and the original USB ports or XP in general? I have checked and rechecked the passcodes, I have deleted all of the profiles and started from the beginning again. I removed my anti-virus program as well as the last effort. Nothing I do seems to make a difference though. This is just used to access the internet on a laptop that is dedicated to a telescope.
