Go to Control Panel.
Click on Network and Sharing Center.
Click on Wireless Network. Connection. (your nickname for router should be listed underneath).
Click on Wireless Properties.
Click on the Security tab up top.
Click on the checkbox where it says “Show characters” and it should be spelled out for you.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just started using my D-Link 1310 Router after quite a few years of it laying around. I managed to get as far as connecting my D820 and my Desktop in a basic Network. I have Windows XP Home on both the Desktop and Laptop. The next step I want to accomplish is making the Laptop wireless with my apartment. When I first had the Router, I of course had Technical Support and my Warranty with Dell was still active, so I was walked through the process and took notes. The only file I made note of for this step was installing the driver (US) WLAN Card Rev.A12, but there must be something else that enables the WiFi catcher because I don't have any icon in the System Tray and no way to access it.
I also remember it being necessary to Bridge the Modem and Router, (I believe we did it from the Verizon site). Though I was told recently that Bridging is not used anymore, now they do a thing called "Double Netting"?

I know the general difference between a router and a switch, but after considerable reading I'm unable to determine if I could just use a switch for my pretty simple specific application.
Here are the two devices I need to setup on my network (connections would be wired, both devices in close proximity): (1) computer running windows2k with 100mbps ethernet card (has software firewall installed) (1) blue ray player for streaming netflix videos
Because I don't have any computers on the network communicating with each other, based on what I've read it seems possible to just connect a switch to my cable modem instead of using a router.

It's not overheated as many people reported and performance is also great (wifi as well as gigabit ports). I tested all functions (NAT, Advanced Wireless Settings, Port Forwarding, Access Restrictions...) - all working great, but I am little stuck on the easiest one - configure it temporarily as regular gigabit switch with an IP address: I put my WAN cable and LAN cables in the 1-4 ethernet ports. NAT, DHCP and Firewall are disabled in the router. I have DHCP server in my network that is assigning IP addresses based on MAC address. In "Setup" > "Basic Setup" > "Router IP" I would like to set up automatic configuration - DHCP, but it is not possible, so I just type the same IP address that It should get from the DHCP server (in this case 10.109.249.42). Does all 1-4 ethernet ports have the same MAC address (in this case 00:25:9C:4D:16:86)? Everything is working fine, my computer's IP addresses are succesfully assigned (as well as wifi devices) from DHCP server in my network, but I feel like WRT320N's address is not assigned - the problem is I can't connect to router's administration under http://10.109.249.42. There is no IP restrictions for remote management.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have 2 cisco aironet 1121G access points. Both of which I believe had an image fail during an upgrade from autonomous mode to lightweight mode. I have tried to reset these access points as directed from Cisco's instructions. I have done a reset (amber light on the middle) and a factory restore (red light in the middle) They go through the steps to restore to factory default, however, after what I believe is an attempt to pull a dhcp address before defaulting into 10.0.0.1 ip address, the access point restarts. This is happening to both of them. After they reset and go through the series of memory tests, I am able to get all three solid green lights, they stay lit for just 15 seconds (rather than 5 minutes so that i can load a new image) I am not sure why they are behaving this way. I have tried as many different possibilities resetting with the mode button. There is no console port on this model of access points so i am unable to manage it otherwise.
