So i have a bit of an odd question and i think i already know the answer but i want to be sure. I would like to set up RDP for 3 desktops at my house to be accessed over a vpn when not home. Currently i am running a VPN on a linksys WRT54g router with dd-wrt. I would like to know what all needs to be done to limit the RDP connections to my lan and VPN connection only? IE I would like to block RDP access over the normal wan connection completely.
Limit his bandwidth. but he will only be staying till the end of summer. The new roomie then might be a torrent monkey.Completely shield my other computers from his sight, so to speak. Like I said he's not a hacker but the new roomie might be.
I'd like the router (linksys WRT54G v3 runner latest linksys fw) and the rest of my network (main PC and media server) to be resistant to at least a script kiddie, and hopefully against a intermediate hacker.I'm currently using wifi with WAP2 personal as the router security.
I have a 20MB internet connection, with a 100GB cap. My mother works at home, with some employees. Adding home and work, 8 people use the internet all the time. Lots of Youtube videos, streaming netflix, iTunes downloading, and so on.I wanted something to:
1) Manage this cap. It's over too soon, and we're left with a poor internet connection until the end of the month - like 500kb.
2) Something to manage two internet connections.
I was thinking about a dedicated router - I currently use a WRT54G V8, which is nice, but it has some issues handling the traffic when the internet is in its full glory. I heard about pfSense, and some searches on Google tell me it's possible to do both options using it.
My home LAN supports 3 Chinese students who spend many hours each day watching movies through either Baidu or QQ. Both these operations seem offer streaming video but in a P-2-P mode. As a result typical daily uploads are running at greater than 6GB. My ISP daily upload limit is 1750 MB; after that I am throttled to 25% of the service I am paying for.I have tried and failed to explain to the students the impact this is having on me. I would like therefore to be able to prevent P2P uploads by suitable settings on my router. Is this possible?

I have a Linksys WRT54G2 wireless router that is used in an office setting. We have, of course, set a password to access (wireless) the internet and local file sharing network from a laptop. Occasionally, however, we have guests that want to access the internet. Is it possible to give the guest a temporary password that is different than the main one? Also, is it possible to limit the guest to only the internet and not the local file sharing network?
We are expanding our wireless infrastructure by adding further access points AIR-AP1242AG-E-K9.We use four WLC 4402 running version 6.0.188.0 as a fail over pair.What is the maximum limit the WLC can handle ?What is the recommended limit one WLC can handle ?We can divide the load on the controllers but in case of a failover one WLC will manage all access points.
I have a 2921, and I have 4 network segments. In segment 172.16.0.0./27 I wand to "pair" somehow connections. I mean IP 172.16.0.x has to have MAC aaaa.bbbb.cccc and so on, and not accept connections otherwise.How can I do that?
I have NM 5.5.9195.0 and WRT120N Linksys router. Â I have an Ipod using WIFI to connect to the network which I would like to restrict times for. Â Using the access restriction page in the manage/setup of the router seems to not work well. Â The system does recognize the MAC address of the Ipod but setting times to allow or deny gives me odd results. Â The allow button actually denies use for one thing. Â Secondly, the deny time ends, but the Ipod still cannot connect sometimes. Â It is like the system gets stuck in deny. Â I have tested using a random 5 minute deny time period, yet the Ipod is denied all times. Â The system is consistent in denying the Ipod (actually using the allow button) but not on the times.
Within the Internet Access Policy section of the browser based utility, is it possible to limit access for a specific device (PC) to LAN only (not allow any traffic to external internet)? Â I see that you can block internet access for a specific machine, however I didn't know if this was inclusive of LAN as well.If not, is there another way to achieve this via the E3000 or should I be looking for a solution on the specific PC itself?Â
Is it possible to configure a limit on monthly traffic over a 3G access on a Cisco 800 Series? Â The scenario is that a customer has a Cisco 800 3G routers with a 3G card from a Service Provider, that offers a rate for X Mbytes per month and that when those monthly X Mbps are exceeded, a differente rate (much more expensive) is applied for the excess traffic that month. The customer would like to have the router NOT to active the 3G access when the X Mbytes (on that month) are exceeded. Maybe this is possible to implement using a TCL script and ip accounting?

After getting hacked I want to limit terminal server/ remote desktop to only my computer. I set a Linksys WRT54G router up as an access point connected to a D-Link DI624 router. When I set up the Linksys, I connected it directly to my computer and changed the IP address to 192.168.1.2 and disabled the DHCP. I then disconnected the Linksys from the computer, connected it with an ethernet cable from a LAN port on the Linksys to a LAN port on the D-Link and connected the D-Link to my computer. Both routers work perfectly but when I try to access the Linksys settings from my web browser it will not let me. I don't even get the login screen. When I run a diagnostic on the problem I get the following message:Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the (192.168.1.2) device or resource is not responding?
My company has a peer to peer network of 10 personal computers without a server. Operating systems from Windows XP to Vista. I've recently installed a Cisco RV120W Wireless-N VPN Firewall. It's configured in DHCP Server Mode with printers/copiers that have static IPs below the DHCP range.  I'm having a problem with certain stations being used for personal networking, shopping, etc. during business hours. Consequently I would like to limit internet access on these stations. However, some internet access is required because of online database software that's an integral part of our business. I've been reading in the Administration Guide about URL Blocking. Would it be possible to give static IPs to certain stations and then limit their internet access to 1 or 2 specific websites?  FYI, I've read about the Trusted Domains and Blocked Keywords but cannot quite understand how to parley this into the solution I need.
I am planning to buy a router for my hotel and I would like to know is it possible to limit the bandwidth limit to the guests? And the admin computer can utilize the maximum speed? it it possible to create a login page paper when some one enters my wifi connection?
I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network.My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems.The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.  I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.  The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.Â
need to know the OSPF best design. I have a customer currently running their OSPF only in two area. Area 0 is provider reside and area 1 reside 700 hundred over of router including HQ router and remote branch router connecting to metro-E 10Mbps networks. Is this design have any weakness? Area 1 about 800 hundred router reside in, the HQ model is cisco router 7200 and remote end is cisco router 1841.Let's say they want a solution, for 3G remote router connect back to the HQ using Lease line with a fixed IP. Using DMVPN and OSPF communicating back to HQ. What should we aware when designing and implementing for the OSPF best practice. They have 700 hundred over remote branch need to terminate back to their HQ. I read cisco recommend an area should not be more than 50 router and per-area no more than 28 area.
WRT54G FW V8.00When enable an access restriction policy that blocks websites by keyword (facebook, twitter, etc) the policy works for a short time (< 2 hours) and then all traffic will be stopped. I can't even log into router. Power down and up is only way to re-enable the router
I picked up a WRT54G 3.1, installed Tomato 1.28, and went through the instructions here to setup WDS: [URL]. As soon as I hit SAVE, I can no longer access the router, wired, wirelessly, or any other way shape or form. I'm sure i didn't change the IP address on the router (thus changing the admin local URL), I've tried going with HTTPS but was pretty certain that wasn't the issue anyway.Right now, I've got a chunk of blue and grey plastic on my desk, and no extended network. My plan was to use this to extend the Time Capsule network so I can plug my XBOX into the WRT54G in another room. In any event, if it were only network config I was dealing with, but how in the heck can I connect to the Tomato admin on the WRT54G now?
I have a wrt54g Linksys router, and recently whenever I type 192.168.1.1 into the internet in order to access the settings/homepage, I get " internet cannot display this webpage"
running linksys wrt54g wireless router to two towers and 1 laptop----had short power outage after which i lost connection to router only on one tower---other tower and laptop were unaffected----had green indicator lights for positions 1 and 2 hard wire connected towers before outage---now only position 2----looking for reasons why I lost number 1 and thus connectivity to the router----have tried powering down router etc---but have not reset it---looking for more info first
My wifi router, Linksys WRT54G v3.1 has been working fine till now. Suddenly my laptop stopped receiving wifi signal. I am unable to access the set up page via 192.168.1.1 either from my laptop or from my desktop that is connected to the modem via the router. I reset the router as well but no luck.
I don´t really have the RJ45 cable, how to configure it as an access point wirelessly? I mean,just by entering the main menu with the default ip address.
I just got a new Sharp Aquos Television and I wanted to try to find the SSID so that I could pick up a connection with my TV. When I went to command prompt and typed ipconfig to get the default gateway, the gateway ip took me to what appears to be my modem's config page and not the Linksys. how I can get to my WRT54G config page.
I have Modem and Linksys router I could able to connect to internet through Modem(Direct connection). But when I connected the router I could not get internet access.
