I just got a new Sharp Aquos Television and I wanted to try to find the SSID so that I could pick up a connection with my TV. When I went to command prompt and typed ipconfig to get the default gateway, the gateway ip took me to what appears to be my modem's config page and not the Linksys. how I can get to my WRT54G config page.

running linksys wrt54g wireless router to two towers and 1 laptop----had short power outage after which i lost connection to router only on one tower---other tower and laptop were unaffected----had green indicator lights for positions 1 and 2 hard wire connected towers before outage---now only position 2----looking for reasons why I lost number 1 and thus connectivity to the router----have tried powering down router etc---but have not reset it---looking for more info first

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT54G router that I have not used for many years, but now I need to use it again. I have connected it between my modem and PC, and I am able to get an internet connection on the PC, but I am unable to connect to the router's configuration page. I have tried resetting the router numerous times (holding the reset button 5 seconds, 10 seconds, even longer) to reset the IP address to the default 192.168.1.1 address, but still cannot access the page. The power LED is on and the WLAN and Internet LEDs are on, and the LED for the port my PC is connected to is on. The hardware version of the router is v3. I tried downloading the latest firmware, but without being anble to communicate with the router at the IP address I cannot update the firmware. How can I go about connectiong to the router's setup page? When using ipconfig, the Default Gateway appears to still point to my ISP's IP address instead of the router's.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I had DSL, my WRT54G was my DHCP master for my home network. When I got AT&T U-Verse, their "gateway" became the DHCP master and also the wireless access point. But the signal was not strong enough where I wanted to use it, so I hooked up the WRT54G again. I discovered that if I connected the U-Verse gateway to the "Internet" port on the WRT54G Linksys, then my home network was split in two, which I did not want. The WRT54G access point is physically somewhat distant from my wired computer, so I wanted to keep the U-Verse gateway as the DHCP master. (The U-Verse gateway is a router with four "computer" ports but no "Internet" port.)
I followed instructions on the Linksys web site, and using my wi-fi connected computer I re-programmed the WRT54G to be "Disabled" as a DHCP server. Then I powered down and physically connected the U-Verse gateway to a "Computer" port on the WRT54G. This solved my problem: my distant wi-fi computer now has a good signal, and both computers "see" each other.
However, now I seem to have lost access to the WRT54G setup "web page." Is it possible to access the innards of the WRT54G when its DHCP service is disabled? Or would I have to reset the device to factory configuration and start all over if I wanted to make any tweaks?
I've tried all IP's that could be... 192.168.1.1 ,etc. , etc.Of course I am behind a router but even though I tried the same with connecting directly, it showed my gateway to be 78.56.191.254 which didn't work at all ( but was ping-able ).I restarted router and computer several times as well as switched form router to direct connection which brought no luck as well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently (~month ago) switched to a new computer after my old one (which I had configured the router on previously with no problems) died.Since then, I have been unable to access my router's config page (entering in the ip address simply results in a blank page with no prompt for username/password). Switching browsers (I've tried Firefox 5 and IE 8) does not solve the problem, nor does disabling AdBlockPlus/NoScript on Firefox. Any way to access my router so I can begin forwarding ports again?

Menus are missing as are option labels, etc. The last time I accessed the router (about a year ago) I didn't have this problem.

I recently "uninstalled" DD-WRT from my router and tried to install the actual firmware for the router, so I went to this page [URL] WRT54G and select version 5. My router is really version 5.1 but I read on this forum that this router works with version 5 so I downloaded it and installed it.
However, this is how my admin page looks like,
And I can't do anything at all. Is there a fix for this? Is there an actual version 5.1 firmware? Or must I switch to a different, proper router?
I have a Linxsys WRT54G. Once every week or two, it seems to "forget" its name, and revert to the default name. When I try to access it with my laptop or phone, "Multivac" is gone, and "Linxsys_XXXXXXX" (where XXXX are random numbers and letters) has taken its place. When I go to the setup at 192.168.1.1, the "Router Name" on the first "Basic Setup" page is still "Multivac," but the "Network Name" on the second "Wireless" page has reverted to the default. If I change it back to Multivac, everything is fine for a week or three until it "forgets" again.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to change my password and all the settings on my WRT54G V8 router today because I forgot the password, and I can't seem to navigate the Basic Setup page. I can log in (most of the time) after resetting the router, but whenever I try to click on a different tab (like "Wireless", or "Security") it comes up with the page saying "This Page Cannot Be Displayed." I'd like to be able to put a password on it (which I have successfully done before on this router) because I live in a college dorm and would like to keep my internet from being bogged down by other people using it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI posted before about my problem in forwarding certain ports in a LAN-to-WAN cascaded router setup, and I finally gave up looking for a solution, and went for a LAN-to-LAN. On the internet there is many articles to be found on how to accomplish the setup, but none of them is complete, and as such, I think I really screwed up someplace. My setup: ISP modem/router (192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0) DHCP enabled, and DHCP address range 3-100 NAT configured Static IP address for a Synology NAS connected to the E4200 SSID id_1
Then the E4200 Internet connection type: I set to Static IP IP 192.168.1.2 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 0.0.0.0 (to disable the WAN)
Then, the network setup: Router IP: 192.168.1.2 gave me the error that WAN and LAN IPs were identical. I played around quite some time but always got an “illegal value” error. Then finally I put the IP to 192.168.0.1 (IP I had in LAN-to-WAN) and this was accepted. And subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 The SSID I left unchanged from what it was, id_2 (also gives me the advantage that I know to which router I am connected)
I rebooted the E4200, and I was connected. But … I am unable to connect to the E4200 configuration page, and even Cisco Connect cannot establish the connection.
WRT120N router: After several hours on the phone with Technical support I got nowhere. Guy had me putting in "admin" in the user name then the PW. I kept getting the 401 authorization required message. After all that I reset my router and used the disk to setup again. After that I went again to the 192.168.1.1 and got the request for authorization, entered admin in the PW and it does nothing, just reloads the request and browser keeps connecting. I have WIN 7 HP, use Firefox 5.0 mostly, but tried on IE8 as well and it does the same thing. I am attempting to open a port.

The router will not allow me to access the router page, ( I called them and walked them through it). I reset the linksys router, by holding the reset button in for 45 seconds. Then I access the router page by going to 192.268.1.1 Windows gives me a popup to log in, What I find on the internet for a default login is the user name is blank and the password is admin. OR the both the user name and password is admin. However it still will not let me into the router page.
I am wondering if the login popup is something with the windows settings. As when I had the router here at my house, I think It just went to the webpage of the router and thats where it asked me for the user name and password. I do not recall the popup login window before the router page. Is there something to turn off to set it so that windows does not give a popup to login and goes to the webpage to login?
Even using the static address I cannot connect to the unit's set up page.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy question is regarding gaining access to my Linksys wireless router configuration page. I recently turned my Linksys WRT54GL wireless router into an access point and since I have done so I am no longer able to access the configuration page for my router.
The problem that I am encountering is not one of connectivity, but rather entry. Prior to turning my wireless router into an access point I was able to connect to the router by means of my browser (192.168.1.1). I am still able to connect to the router, but whenever I type in a user name and password the router just simply does not recognize the information. I have tried resetting the router multiple times, but I am still denied access to my router despite having the correct user name and password. I have version 1.1 of the Linksys WRT54GL wireless router and have the latest firmware.
Since the secondary router WRT300N uses the same default IP 192.168.1.1 as the primary installed router EA4500, any attempt to log onto the set up page results in diversion to the Cisco Connect Cloud for the primary router.
Is there a way to access the set up page for the secondary WRT300N, bypassing the main router intervention via the Cloud software?
I have updated the WRT160n firmware and, since then, I couldn't access the setup page anymore. I could still use the router as a switch, but couldn't access the setup page and configure it as a router.

I can connect to it just fine with my laptop however... so I changed it to 192.168.254.1 as per some internet instructions. Still can't connect via my desktop... Tried ipconfig /flushdns to no avail. Cleared the internet cache Upgraded the firmware (via the laptop) rebooted the computer rebooted the router... reset the router... After rebooting the router I can type in the username and password to access the router, but it never connects....

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy internet is T1 by Verizon. My mom's company Siemens pays for our internet because she works from home as medical tech support on the phone. Okay so the T1 had to be laid out to our house underground I think because where we live, other brands of internet aren't available. The T1 goes from the box outside into our basement and hooks up to a Cisco 1721 modem. From the 1721 the internet goes out to a wireless router that is sitting right next to it. This wireless router is a Linksys WRT160N V2. We have several cables coming out of the WRT160N V2 to go to the first floor for hardwired connections, but one cable goes to the attic and connects to a second wireless router. The second wireless router is a Linksys E2000. We have several cables coming out of the E2000 that go to the 2nd floor to serve as hardwired connections.Okay so let me explain where things went wrong.
After a storm our power went out. Eventually the power came back on, but every now and then our internet would shut off for like half a day then turn right back on, so our internet was getting really really spotty. The [b]AL[/b] light on the Cisco 1721 would come on every time the internet went out. It was so bad that my mom had to get an aircard from verizon to get internet. So after two weeks of spotty service and arguing with verizon trying to get them to come fix the problem, they said try resetting your wireless routers because they might have "bad data" in the lines causing spotty connection. So we reset the wireless routers by holding down the reset buttons on the back. Well.. this reset all of the settings for the routers which Cisco facilitated set up, and now our wireless routers are out of warranty date so they can't set the wireless routers back up. However, we have copies of the online wireless router set up page, so we thought maybe we could just set them up ourselves.Well the problem is... We don't know how to connect to the wireless setup pages.. I read something on the internet about setting up wireless networks and to type 192.168.1.1 into our browser(Mozilla Firefox) and that would bring us to the wireless setup page. But the page does NOT ever come up.
Another way to find the IP address of our wireless routers would be to try going to the cmd and typing in ipconfig and using the Default Gateway IP address for the browser to connect to the setup page but that doesn't work out either.... Right now I unhooked the Linksys WRT160N V2 and hardlined the Cisco 1721 to the Linksys E2000 to a PC on the second floor because I figured it wouldn't work out if we had two wireless routers running at the same time. Currently the browser is taking me no where at all. It just says "Connecting..." but nothing is loading up at all.I tried hardlining from the Cisco 1721 to my mom's laptop, which is her work computer, and I got no response at all. I figured it might just be her work computer that was messing up and not allowing her to hardline into the 1721 so I tried hardlining the Cisco 1721 straight to the PC desktop on the second floor(we have no other laptops other than my mom's work laptop) and nothing went through. Then my dad says the Cisco 1721 has been configured so it doesn't direct connect, meaning that it has to go through a wireless router.
